Hey some news on the dev^^ ( been a little while:p)

We're working on the Menu ( yes we showed how it looks, now we had to make it :p).
and I did the options to select your language at the beginning of the game.
1st step: the translation data are stored through scripts ( easy for me to test )
2st step: the translation data will be stored through text files. with nothing in the scripts. To ease translation into other languages. (French and english provided by default)

And we still need dedicated spriters to join our cause!!!
 
(IMO) what ur trying to do is gonna take a lot of work, and as a big fan of sidescrolling Castlevania games, i hope you pull it off sooner rather than later.... leading me to this suggestion:  maybe consider using some sprites that are already 'out there' in order to hasten progress.  Not to say that you shouldn't have some original work, especially some original bosses would be nice... but there are some spritesheets out there that would be very usefull for this project (though some of them might require a bit of editing).

Wooh sorry for the lake of updates! A month without news...
The project is still on obviously, and restarting UNiversity has occured during this last month:p

But I got Very good news to bring! We now got 1.5 Spriters, why 1.5? because one is fully working with us, and the other one is in a kind of partnership.

Other good news!
I've to do a Final Year project, as it's my 3rd and final year, in my course. And I asked to work on Castlevania:MR. (woot my initials xD, coincidence). As it's fangame and working in team i can't work directly on it.
But!!!
I can focus on specific part of the game, and work on them on my own, as an external project. So what i decided is to work on the physics engine which is still incomplete. I have to give a Draft Specification of the engine by next week to my supervisor.
But so far:
- Gravity
- friction
- bounce
- rigid bodies collision
- Joint - Pivot thingy, think of Inverse Kinematics.

are the main features of the 2D physics we want in game.
So I'll build a new project from scratch with only the game physics.

This looks (soooo) SO awesome..

But one question (is bugging) bugs me..

If you and (you're) your team created everything, will this be released as free?
Or are there any charges? Its like a real castlevania... (I mean it looks very official and not fan-made to me.)

EDIT: Lol, I'm practicing grammar xD
 
Trebor777 has already helped create one of the best kits avilable, NetplayPlus. I'm pretty sure he has enough satisfaction from that to want to keep these systems to himself.

Back on topic, the game looks wonderfull. Graphically amazing, I take it they are RIPS? I've never personally played any Castlevania games, but this does look very good and has a pretty interesting story. I wish you good luck with it.
 
I would like to help but the time and it's foreign language so it might take a while for an english release ;-;
I hope you guys could finish it :)
 
I am impressed. The only thing that reminded me it was still VX and not a real castlevania game was the VX knight icon!

Yes, it will be released as a free game. Because, it's a Fan-game and i don't have the Casltevania License  :lol:

Its like a real castlevania...
Because we love this serie, and we want our game look like a real Casltevania ;)

I take it they are RIPS?
There are 0 Rips. Only Custom. Only the sprite of Jonhatan Morris, and it will change very soon.

why don't you make a completly different character .I mean the hero have the same situation like Alu and I don't think it really interesting.
How many chars in your game ?

I only can help you for faceset .It's only thing i can do

Hum true it sounds like Alucard backgrounds but it's actually quite different^^ in the details...
Only 1 playable character... we're not Konami, sorry.

The game is going to take a while, I need to finish the physics engine 1st, which should be done by the end of march.

I must say that the project is at a very slow pace at the moment. We're in the state of writing detailed storyline, for each places/chapters/levels/whatever you call it. SO we now what's going on. And know what to design. Soon, Arctrooper should have some stuff to work on the 1st Boss^^.
We're fine on the Artwork side^^ but thank you for the offer.
 
Castlevania Symphony of the Night was the best game ever made. Since you compared your game to it I'm expecting greatness. I hope you didn't bite off more than you can chew with that comment. I'll be watching you.

It can't be as good as a real castlevania... we're amateurs dude! xD
We'll do our best!

Just to tell you, Wizard is a big fan of Symphony of the Night, It might even be his favourite game! (at least it is on PSX)
