"Melolune" (formerly "The Blue Star") [*New Demo and Video*]

Thanks!  I wouldn't mind living there either, hehe :)

Hey, happy birthday to us!!  (well, tomorrow, haha)... I've been so busy this month that I kind of didn't realize it was already the middle of April.

If I recall correctly...

When Aero gets taken by that bird... and you go to the hut to talk about it and set out to rescue Aero. I had put Dominic in the top party position using the CMS a little bit beforehand, so there were two Dominic's. I suggest  turning the hero's sprite invisible and eventing both heroes in the room to fix it.

Happy birthday! (To sharks too!)

I promised that I'll make a better fan-recording of Traces. . . I lied.
And made a fan-arrangement instead. :'> A fan media to hang on the wall non the less, I suppose!

Hope you like it! I really like the song, so doing it was really fun as well. I think it's quite calming to listen to.

It's the least I could do as a thanks. Have a fun birthday!

@Reives: Aw thank-you Reives, you must've spent a lot of time on this, and it sounds wonderful!  The way the harp and strings are blended really gives a special and calming feel.  I can't wait to finish more of my game so that you can see who Liele is, and why "Traces" is her theme song.  Again, this is so so cool, I will definitely add it to my original post :)

@Rubicant: Thank-you for letting me know about this!  It didn't occur to me that you could switch characters around (I think when I implemented the CT system, I just assumed it didn't let you do that for some reason, I never actually tried it out).  I guess now that means I either have to go back and find all the events that manipulate the player sprite, or make sure the permanent CMS I end up using doesn't allow the player to switch the characters around at that point in the game.  Thanks for finding this bug!

Glad you like it. I had a lot of fun making it, so it was a cool experience anyhow. And aye with bringing in Liele; she's famous before even showing up.

The music for this game is fantastic, and I'm the type of person who plays a game mainly for its music, and then its storyline. Been a violinist since I was about 5, or 6, so naturally, I love music :p

I'm interested in what program you use to create the music?

I played the demo and really liked it! But I like the updated 'Leebleook' in the new screenshots better. :3 I'll definitely play the full game when it comes out!

@Mesmerize: Thank-you, I'm happy you enjoyed the music.  I'm also the kind of person who tends to like rpgs based on music and story (which is why I liked Chrono Trigger and Suikoden so much).  That's cool that you play violin, it's such a beautiful instrument!

To answer your question, the main program I've been using for composing is Sonar 6.  For my samples I use a mix of soft and hard synths (Edirol Orchestral, and my Korg Triton workstation being the main suppliers).  And although you can do most stuff in Sonar, sometimes I'll adjust volumes and effects in Soundforge (or Audacity if my boss needs something in .ogg).

@alaiin: Thanks for playing the demo!  I'm really glad you liked it.  The new Leebles will definitely be in the next release :)

Hm, I haven't decided yet... I think what I might do is release a second section, which will include the 3-4 hours of gameplay directly proceeding the 1st demo.  My goal with the 2nd section is to draw the player into the meat of the story.  There's a big turning point after getting to Debonet which really launches the player into things...

Beyond that however, I'm still not sure because it's going to be a really long game... probably at least 30 hours :)  How did you decide to format your game in chapters?

:P I haven't played the demo yet, it's 94%... O.O  LOAD!  But it looks like everyone lioves it!  99%... so, I'll take a swing at it.  It sounds like the music is really good, and it sounds like you have a good voice.  Even if the maps end up clashing, I don't think it will ruin it or anyt-  IT'S LOADED!  OKBYEGOTTAGOPLAYTHEDEMOI'LLREVIEWAGAINWHENIT'SLOADEDKBYE!

I played it, I'm in the swamp, and I'm stuxors.  I'll play later, But I think it's fantastic so far.  And, like everyone else, I think the music is fantastic.  But the swamp rain seems kinda unnecessary.  That's All I have to report at this time, SIR!  Other than that Aero is REALLY weak.  That's all.

@blue_lake_1: Ah, that's great you got so far!  I'm happy you enjoyed the game and music, thanks for checking it out :)  As a side note, your first post totally made me crack up (the part where you interrupted yourself and started typing in caps because it finished loading, hehe :)

@sharksweetheart & blue_lake_1: You know, you guys are right.  Aero shouldn't be so weak.  I think I left her at lvl 1 so that the Mother Falcar would be more of a challenge in terms of keeping Aero alive throughout the battle.  Perhaps the player should be able to purchase (or find) a really strong weapon that is unique to her... or maybe I'll just bump her up to lvl 2 or 3 when she joins the party at the nest.  Thanks for the feedback, I'll mess around with it for a bit :)

It's looking good! Hahaha, milk tea. Damn you, making me want to spend money I don't have. :)

Keep up the good work.

@Ceru: Thanks!  Haha... do you like milk tea, too?  I'm so addicted to it :P  I drink it instead of coffee for my caffeine fix.

@Boonzeet: Thank-you for the feedback, I'll try to make sure the night maps look nice.  I'm probably going to have to adjust the colors when I go back and add the particle effects (right now the Vamdog picture only has cosmetic lighting).
