KPhoenix's Artwork [Vehicle fin]

@Calibre Thanks Calibre I was worried for a second that it didn't look like anything but a wierd banana *sigh of relief*

@Grandor Hiya Grandie-Kun! ^^ Always glad to see you around. Thanks for the compliment! I did try with the latest piece to keep it vibrant but keep it all the same color tone, pastel greens and blues. I may try to do another pic from my game, this time of Katra and Rowen, or even Merrik and Lady Isolde.

I can't imagine salt water would do much good to someone's hair, so I find it a bit strange of a setting to be honest. Pretty hard to recognise the fabrics for me also and the poses of the mermaids(?) a quite static. I'm also wondering why the dress is spread over the floor like that while all the hair is pointing upwards. Not as if I have the dire need to see what's underneath it or something, but I find it rather strange it drops down like that.

Ah TCOFA! I always like to hear your thoughts ^^ always one to make a person think about something in depth.

-Salt water and Hair; well I figured since the merpersons aren't human the structure of their bodies and hair differ. I.E. I did think to make the merpeople's body on whole more fish like. (Not half human body and half fish scales) Thier body is more like a shark, in that it is cartiledge like enabling them to go to deeper depths and not be flattened by the high pressure of the ocean. So since their skin/body is different, their hair is obviously a different structure than the humans, and able to survive the salt.
Also, the setting is inside the palace of Atlantia, which is surrounded by a shield (the shield has different settings, it can act like an osmosis membrane and filter out salt from the water, OR filter out just the oxygen particles and leave behind the hydrogen and turn the water's liquid form to a gaseous form.) So it's not really salt water INSIDE the palace or city, but fresh water, and if needed, say if the more human like travelers needed it air.
Also Atlantians have nanites that enable them to live under high pressure, because of a force field they generate around their bodies. As a result Atlantians are a bit stronger than their human counterparts because they are used to high pressure, but a planets surface is less pressere...I'm going to go TOO in depth -_-; It'll all be explained in my game though!

But Atlantians and Merperson's are BOTH mammals and still need air to breathe occasionally so they can't stay underwater for prolonged periods of time.

(lot of story for my story, I've thought a lot of things out)

-Fabric is not the same density nor feel as hair. It's a little heavier, (you can't see the bottom, the dress continues off the page as it were, it'd be more detailed and ladened down with pearls and jewelry)

-Mermaid poses static; hrm..I guess I could always have them..different. I thought there was a lot of movement though -_- can't win 'em all! I'll try to do something more next time, to make the people less staticy...(A word?)

Thanks for the C&C!

@KP: Holy crap XD thats alot of detail for the Atlantians and its simply awesome:D

@tcofa: what did you mean by the characters being static? When i see it i see quite alot of motion with the way they are reacting with the water. It would be great for a brief explanation and would help me loads with my own drawings.

Ah, well thought the more human looking girl actually was human (under some "breathe underwaterspel"l or something)

Explains it all.

The static was mostly aimed at the arms. I think you should "loosen them up", it's like they're first time barbers, nervous and all (but if that's what you were going for, INCREDIBLE job =)), the right one also has less shapes in it's hips than it's shoulders.

@TCOFA; I'll work on making my chara's not so stiff next time thanks for pointing it out ^-^; (Although the green haired mermaid IS nervous, look at how she's holding the brush, ouch!)

@Anglachel; thankies you!

Here's a newer piece, I did for the Art contest ^^
was a little hard starting back with pencils, forgot almost how to shade.
Tis called Battle Royale. I had put a ton of detail in it to tell a story, or at least I tried.

I like to challenge myself and see if I can do something without erasing or changing mistakes into something else, sometimes it works sometimes it doesn't

I am trying a bit more to work on my anatomy, I struggle with it mightily. Thanks for pointing it out I've kept it in mind for my next two pieces

I wasn't planning on posting these here since I've already put them in my thread...but I wanted to show that I'm improving my anatomy thanks to people pointing them out ^^

Nyah-hah! I'm glad I found this thread! I have already told you that I love your style and I want you to keep working on your anatomy(oh, the hypocrisy!). I'm not sure if it's the use of various colors, or the exotic clothing, but something about your stuff is just... well, good. Improving your drawing skills can only help your project's aesthetics and that is very, very good. :thumb:

recent 2 are pretty cool =D

these are digital, or traditional?
I've used digital for the two most resent. I use a wacom tablet and paitshop pro.

First one looks a bit heavy on the eye makeup. :P And she needs toes. The shapes are all excellent, better than I could do. Not that that means anything :p

Sorry for late reply,
@Djzalzer; Thanks ^^;perhaps she's heavy on the eyemakeup cause she likes eye makeup much? I was trying to copy a popular eveningwear makeup application I've seen as of late.

@Venetia; Mucho Gracias! I do try to develop my own style or at least lean towards Shojo manga style, or even the earlier 80's type animes (bubblegum crises and Robotech/Macross anyone?)

newest piece! I noticed I am doing a lot of blues and greens, so I wanted to do a brown/orangey hued pic. Dunno what inspired me to try a pregnant lady, but I wanted to do a picture that somone could see and make up a story to.

well this one is good. I like the way the woman looks like... like a medieval version of storm, I guess. I even think she's sad or thinking about something...
That's an interesting sword design.

Thanks, and what she's sad or thinking about is up to the viewer ^^

Funny that she reminds you of Storm...I guess her light blonde hair kinda looks white >.<

Er...haven't updated here for a while. Well, a while for me ^^

Here's some newer stuff!!

Both of these were inspired by a skewed reflection of reality. (the reflections are not right in some way)
Female Space Lieutenant
http://i113.photobucket.com/albums/n225/Kiearaphoenix/spacelieutenant2.png[/img]

Black and Red
http://i113.photobucket.com/albums/n225/Kiearaphoenix/blackandred.png[/img]
actually this was a battler request by Danny2000 that made me inspired to do a reverse in Red and Black
may not stay up....we'll see^^;

Dark Space Prince/Pirate
Inspired once again by the Leiji Matsumoto sp? Watching The Harlock Saga and the like I wanted to do
a character that'd fit in that realm, but with my bishonen (prettyboy) Shojo Manga (girl comics) style
http://i113.photobucket.com/albums/n225/Kiearaphoenix/DarkPrince.png[/img]
Also been trying to make new brushes, so that's the gold circle thingys in the background, kinda like a
compass/chart. He actually has a story. His eye, well the artifical one covered by his eyepatch, is a computer that
displays a hologram map to an unknown lost planet ^^;
