Glad you changed the font :D An small increase in size wouldn't go astray but at least it is readable now. hehe

The story seems dangrously cliche. And I hope you don't make the same mistake as FXII (completely my own opinion) and focus the story on he politics too much over the characters. If you show plenty of character development you should be fine.

Anyway this looks like it will have really fun gameplay and I hope that is the case. Looking forward to the full game! = )

Much of the game is based around characters and little on the politics. Yes they're there, which starts the whole thing in the first place, but there are many reasons to why the war is there, that will be discussed in later episodes.

Basically any game out there you see is cliche in some sense, many RPG's by big name companies are cliche too, just we run out of ideas and have to reuse and revamp old ones. But I am trying to keep Kailis as original as possible. Dragoons hardly have the same meaning behind them as they do in FF games... solely you need a dragon to even become a full dragoon, if you never get one, you'll always stay an initiate. Another reason my game is in Episodes... Is because I wanted to be able to have much deeper characters, deeper storylines, and allow for dramatic cliffhangers and such to lead up the next episode.

I can't wait to release the demo for this episode, I hope to keep you and many others attracted to Kailis and wanting more!

I think the game is very interesting. The story line is good and the plot is consistant. Very descriptive game. The characters are strong, and each seems to have their own underlying story. Very imaginative! The controls are easy and it's challenging. I suck at video games and I love it. Haha, it's a great game, can't wait for it to be finished, I'm excited!
Good job.

Thank you Aria dear,
As all probably noticed, she is a beta tester, she is the voice for Luna, and also my amazing girlfriend. I'm glad to see that that someone noticed how different each character is from each other, I strive hard to make them as interesting and unique as possible. I'm happy to hear the game is challenging and the story and plot hold up well. I can't wait to hear from the other beta testers on their overall critique of the game.
Sincerely,
~Axerax

Went through some beta testing and aside from little bugs here and there I can say this game does make a good impression from the title screen. The game does start out at its quick pace and the graphics don't seem render a feeling like something's missing.
The overall system is quite nice and a good addition with the CMS and a very nifty map and dash/sneak system. (I wish the dash was longer though, oh well!). From the 'content' I can see plenty of work being put on this. If only that frame rate could be 30! Rah!

All In all, It was fun beta testing this game, and it's worth a try. *flex*

Thank you Shizu,
Once our beta testing is all over, I'll take and compile a full evaluation of it from everyone's testing notes, and fix them before releasing the game demo. I'm glad you liked the CMS, I put a lot of work and time into creating the overall design so it would match that of the HUD system.

Plenty of work you are correct! And plenty more. I appreciate all the custom music you have made for this title and I am excited to let others hear the music as well. I'm looking into more anti-lag systems, but until more as made, I'm a bit SOL but from now on, I will continue to make it as lag resistant as possible!

Thank you!

The colors....................I had to read the whole post, and usuallly I don't, wait so that young girl is a dragon? Love the name of the cave, Cool Rush, I have generally nothing to say about this project- wait a sec, that font.....nearly crushed my eyes, but as to seeing you already brought that up, you still get a 10 out 10 in my book.

The girl is a dragoon, not a dragon. If you've ever played Final Fantasy, you can get a general idea, but she get a dragon teammate known as a Wyvra Companion... This granting her to become a full dragoon. The font is a different style of Comic Sans MS, its more comic like that it use to be. I'm glad you are interested and hopefully you'll like the demo when it comes out just as much!
~Axerax

Ah I see, i'd just have to play more ff's it seems, and I thought I had them all (sigh) As for the font, maybe I'll just have to play it to see what you see.

The game is aimed at displaying a deeper more exciting look into the Dragoon class, though the game mentions many other classes it is basically focused around them until later in the game series.

Though you're comment about her being a dragon, gave us at Luna Productions some ideas I'm playing with at the moment, which are not hard to incorporate at all, in fact they go together with the whole background of the characters quite well. So, let that be a little idea of what could happen and may very well happen!!

Hello,
To all whom are curious as to when a game demo will be released, it will be within a few weeks. We are ending beta testing tomorrow and I am going to be working on fixing found bugs and then try to get a demo released for everyone!
So keep an eye out for the next few weeks!

hey... I see at the start that you are going to be sending this into a games company when complete. See, The problem with that is because your art is all RTP (or downloaded) you would have alot of problems with copywrite,

Also, Scripts belong to the people that script them. These are still not the biggest problems, Systems like ABS, ATB, RTB, TBB and others are all under patents, Meaning that you would have to go to the one game company that owns the right to your battle system.

Im sure if you read up on it you will find a site with ways to stop this being the case.... On other problem that I can see is that there is no reason that after you let people download it a company could not just steal your idea.

I will be tell you the truth, I am quite interested by this project but I still believe you would be better to go back to school and get your masters in Game Dev, I would be VERY surprised if a games company take this (or almost any) RMXP game serious.

I do wish you good luck and hope that it does work out for you. If you want to break into the industry go away and think about the mistakes you have made on this game and then make a new game bigger, better and deeper then this one. Then maybe you will have a chance.

Thanks for taking the time to read this and please dont think im flaming.

Sadly I agree but there are certain people that can make it happen, I consider Rmxp a training thing, and the real job starts when I began to make games in C++ but anyway back on topic, hows the spriter hunt going, and could you maybe enlighten me on these....Dragoons? (sigh) I'm supposed to be a FF fan and know about this already.

I've never said I was selling the RMXP game, if I "was" to do it, I would go back through all my various "RTP Styled" Sprites. Quite a few of these sprites were done by me thank you very much, and all of the HUD and Menu was designed by me personally. I am quite offended to hear someone say that I have no talent what-so-ever. I probably have more experience with this program than you, and many other RPG Maker Programs. I've been using them since the days of RM2000.

Now on the other hand, if I was to sell the RMXP game, I would get permission, maybe pay some people obviously, and the fact I am already paying for music, means I'm very aware of my situation. I'm 19, and going to college for the very reason I do this stuff... To make video games. You don't need a masters in video game design, most colleges only have a Bachelors degree in it. Plus I am more of an artist and consider my self a freelance artist and work on my game as a passion hobby. I said I might sell the copyright to my game to a company, you don't think I'm stupid enough to release a game without one do you? I know full well people crack games, the likelihood an RMXP game would be cracked is pretty much screaming this is a really good game if someone went through the trouble of cracking it... If a company did steal it, after it is copyrighted, know full well I am going to be suing them for quite a large sum of money.

My game is supposed to be RTP Styled, I said this when I started the project back in the past, and if you honestly want to see how far gone is, then send me a PM and I'll give you a link to the oldest known, and still functional forum with this game on it, no new updates, all old news. I use very few non-recolored or frankensprited, let alone custom RTP styled Sprites... And when I do, they are already credited.

Please don't judge a book by its cover, don't judge me without knowing me, cause I guess you didn't know I was going to college to learn even more than my own personal experiences about game design.

Gman:
Dragoon is the traditional name for a soldier trained to fight on foot but transport himself on horseback, in use especially during the 17th and early 18th centuries.

Over the years the term Dragoon has "evolved" is the best way to put it. Solldiers have become heavily armored in games, coincidentally from it sounding close to dragon, they generally wore armor resembling a dragon. They also obtained some freak ability, I guess to represent flying like a dragon, to jump extremely high and come down with sword/spear depending on the game. (Take into account, I have not played Legend of the Dragoon, so I don't know if they explain further what they are in that game or not)

I simply have taken the concept a step further, and linked them into having a companionship, understanding, and bond between dragons. Dragoons in my game derive from extensive training using polearms, to resemble the long reach of a dragon, the speed of a dragon, and the piercing bite of a dragon.
Then in addition to the polearm, they obtain an item called a Dragonstone Pendant, this pendant is the link between Kailisian Language and Wyvran Language... when a Wyvra speaks to a dragoon in Wyvran, the pendant allows the dragoon to fully understand what they say, as no other creatures in Kailis other than Wyvra themselves are able to or allowed to understand the ancient Wyvran tongue. Also on one final note, dragoons of Kailis must have a Wyvra Companion to even be considered a full fledged dragoon.

This is to be for the whole selling an RMXP game. I would not sell my RMXP game, just the copyright to the game. RMXP IS a medium to get started, nothing else. I am making a game and have been for quite some time, so I actually have something worth showing to a professor, rather than walking in and just being like "Yeah i can do this and that" and have absolutely nothing to show for it. RMXP is a stepping stone to things like C# and VB. I plan on studying them as well, but I want to finish Kailis first.

As for a spriter, I still don't have one, and I'm frustrated that I can't find one. My girlfriend said she might have found a guy who does the same stuff as me and he would get back to her if he found a spriter willing to help. But still I need one and really hope one finds their way to me soon.

I'm not trying to be mean or anything, I'm quite blunt about things and want to let you know I'm not as stupid as I look. I do have my game planned out, i spent 2 years doing nothing BUT that. So I hope I have the goods to do this, and know that I am going to college for this stuff, let alone I have years of computer art and design experience, so please don't tell me I can't do anything artistic.

@Axerax; Seems like you know your history, or at least researched enough of it to really make a believable class in your game. Which for me is a sign of a real treat for a rich story and rich history.

As for a company not taking you seriously, as Xcumasoft stated, I really don't think it's the case.
1. It never hurts to try
2. Its a portfolio or example of what you can do.
People at other companies have accepted less that RMXP for the reason of being impressed with a person can do with such a basic program that it blows them away (having a likable personality helps too ^^)

In any case you probably know all that and it sounds and looks like you are well on your way to reach your goals.

I agree 100% to what you are saying Kieara, RMXP may be a centerfold for aspiring game designers... But it is the way you utilize the program, people, and resources that ultimately decides how far or short your game will go. I tend to have a likable nature, I don't like getting mad, let alone when people criticize my work... I am very strong willed, determined, and blunt. When it comes to things I don't like or do like, but want changed.

I am, I have explained my game and history behind it to many colleges, I tend to get the same answer. "You are well on your way, most courses are something you must know tons about already, so they shouldn't be a problem... You are passionate and determined to pursue the career field as this and most likely to succeed in it... Most students who walk in here may say they have this and can do that, but you already with just a small game have more than 75% of all the students who take these courses start out with, which is usually nothing, so that says something about you!"

I've gotten all compliments from actual admissions, professors, and faculty at these schools I've applied for. I know how to do this stuff, it just takes time and lots of skills. That is why I am passionate about my game and not nervous to present it to a company, even if they don't take it, another may and it is their loss if they don't! That is how I look at it!
~Axerax~

Thats the positive way to look at things, if you look at it like that you're bound to succeed, Unless Sony, Mircrosoft and Nintendo turn down yuor game.....then it might need a little revising......

Ok... FIRST!

I never at any point said you had no talent what so ever? I dont know where you got that from. I thought by the look of them that they are simply recolored sprites. If you are telling me different I will admit im wrong and apologies.

I said the games company's would not take MOST games serious. I have not played yours so I dont know what they would think, Shizu is working along side the team I run as a helper and I really trust her. She never said anything bad about your game, She only pointed out a few things that could be be easily changed.

I see that you never mentioned about the systems that are copyrighted so I take it you have found away around that, Im happy for you. In that post you accuse me of FLAMING on, I never once said something to put your project down. I am currently studying computer game dev, At Bolton University, England.

I get alot of people saying the same they say about your work to me, Except my work is in UCC (unreal script) from the unreal series!

Like I said in the post you did not seem to like, I do wish you good look. I really hope you reach your goal. I understand if you dont like me...

This is what happens when you get to strong mined people on the topic.

Thanks...

Xcuma when you buy RMXP you gain the right to sell your games even if they use RTP. What's wrng with RTP styled graphics anyway? And I'm sure its not as if Axerax would send his game to Nintendo etc. There are plenty of small time game publishers.

I am quite offended to hear someone say that I have no talent what-so-ever.

lol he didn't say anything like that but it is quite typical for people to see things differently when their project in being 'flamed' (in their eyes).

Axerax its great to see you have a lot of backstory for your dragoons. The idea is also similar to something I was considering using in my game, although of course it would not be the games focus. It reminds me slightly of Eragon. (I'm not saying thats where you got the idea because it's obviously very different.) Still waiting for that demo!

If you truly have a passion for gaming I'm sure you could make it in the industry.

lol I dont wanna make anyone angry,,, Just trying to help but it turned on me!

The most you need to worry with on RMXP for copyright is scripts :P

good luck and sorry it ended up like this

Honestly, you don't need a copyright to any script, people can do so if they wish, but most people who make them will gladly grant you permission to use a script if you ask or pay them any sum of money they so wish.

I'm not mad or anything, and most schools use the unreal engine's, I've used unreal my self, I liked it an all, but it is based for FPS the best. I've also worked with the Neverwinter Nights Engine and as well the Titan Quest Engine. All are great, but if anyone really wants to get into 3D games, start using Maia and 3DMAX, those are what most companies use. Some use even better software.

You just seem to lose your temper really quick if someone criticizes you or says you are wrong about something, coming back at them with a quick and rash comeback. Just watch it or people will start reporting you on the forums.

All of this is offtopic and I really don't like it cluttering up my project thread, it is supposed to be for Comments and Critique... Not complaining and fighting... So I'll ask nicely, to stop, next time I see something I will report you for it.
