I really liked this tutorial. While it is cluttered a bit, but that doesn't mean it sucks. I really liked the bells and jingles. In addition, those town images you posted make me jealous. D: But good job, nevertheless. :thumb:

really there's so many unnecessary things, but i guess it's about tastes so if someone finds it really good, well then he/she should use it.
By the way, old maps are not good, or bad, they are old and people will judge them according to their tastes, I really like the screeny Granas posted, that map looked so much cleaner, even if you try to map a jungle or forest, if the player gets lost just by looking into the map then you're really not very good at mapping.

I like your work on the maps, Arramon. However, I've noticed something odd--your towns have chipset pieces that aren't in the chipset for the towns (such as the large trees in your forest town.)

Am I missing something, or is this because I use the free version?

No, it's because he has compiled his own tileset or used one compiled by someone else. You take pieces from all different sets and make a new one in something like paint or photoshop.

i have read the tuturial and tried making a map and here is what i came up:

the first pic is the original map (from ragnarok online) and the next one is the one i converted to rmxp err what do you think? (too much grass?)
