[Full Game] Lucid Awakening

Dude it's a pretty good game! I was hooked on the screen to the part where Damian locks the First Gate. :crazy:The story is pretty complicated and I must say that it is very... very interesting indeed. As I said before I like totally hooked! There are some flaws to the game like your mapping . You have to work on that, and other than the fact that you used RTP battlers when there are about a zillion of other better looking graphics on the internet... the game turned out pretty good! Anyway's since now your free... maybe you could help me with my story line?...
~Just wondering...

EDIT : Oh one Question : How long did it take you to creat this game?

Thank you!

Could you explain a little more about my mapping problems?  It's not constructive criticism if you don't explain it ^_^.

It's hard to find matching battlers and charactersets that also match with the RTP.  Trust me, I tried.

I'm working on 2 projects now...sorry, I'm not available lol.

It took about a year of working on it sort of off and on to get it done.

~Your Welcome

~Bout' your mapping. It isn't "good enough". Not detailed at all. I dunno but maybe I played other games with very High detailed mapping like Master of the Wind or Dark Eternal... that your mapping seem a little undercrowded but maybe that's your style? Anyway's you could add some more detail into your maps (Lighting effects, more furniture, More trees etc...)

http://rmxp.org/forums/index.php?topic=33330.0 Those are very helpful links by Venetia. Check out the Naramaru section, Awesome recreation of RTP battlers.

Unavailable? Alright then... guess my quest in search of writer continues. Good Luck on your projects!

Okay thanks.  Yeah, I know...my mapping is pretty bad, but I just wanted to know specifically what you disliked.  I could never compare to some of these very high quality games, but I can try.  I will probably do better in Lucid Awakening 2 because I've learned a lot, and someone's making me tilesets.

With L.A.2 I'm really going to get everything all together before I start developing.  One mistake I made with Lucid Awakening was that I jumped in cuz I was so excited and just added scripts and stuff along the way.  This time I'm going to figure out what I want, know what I want, and then have what I want before I start.

Thanks for the link, I'll check it out ^_^.

I find this game very entertaining. It is very much like old SNES RPGs, which I personally enjoy a lot.

One thing...when going to the temple to find your brother (right after the "Nocturne" are released): Didn't the angel-ghost say something about a basement? Where is that? I think I must have read it too fast... >.<

Ah, thanks.

EDIT: I'm liking the oldschool style, despite the fact that that means large, bare rooms. It makes the game stylistically nostalgiac, I think...
I did notice one thing that could be improved, though: When you knock on Jasper's door, it is really hard to see the text when he is speaking. You should make the text show up on top rather than in the middle.

Hmmm, interesting. I'm downloading it right now. It looks pretty good, so I'll tell you what I think as soon as I give it a shot. ^_^

*force-feeds Vista Lucid Awakening* I made the mistake of downloading it on my Vista laptop. Oops. This may take a while. XD

@Freakish: Lol I didn't mean to have empty rooms.  Sorry haha...well I guess that's good if you like it ^_^.

@Muse: Lol onoes, Vista doesn't like RPG Maker...or anything for that matter haha

*rather begrudgingly tears self away from LA to leave a comment* Nuu, but I gotta got find the next Gate!

Alright, fine, I'll come and comment. I said I would. XD

I'm really impressed so far! You've thrown in some twists into the story that I really wasn't expecting.

I wasn't expecting Damian to actually accept Silas's deal! (Silas, right? Why can I not remember that guys name...Oh. Probably the great deal of name calling employed in our battle. Heh.) I was expecting Damian to be all, "No, you're evil! I'll never accept your deal!" But I like this better. That'll be very interesting once we get to the Final Gate. <3

Also, I want a Glow plushie. XD

I love the Menu style--very slick. And I especially like the battle system you used. It gives a great feeling of action, although I probably button-mash a little too quickly in some battles.

I did notice a couple of mapping errors in Chiro around the High Priestess's temple, just to the left of the building, and a couple corner errors in one of the early dungeons, as well as a couple grammar slip-ups (Don't mind grammar, though. I'm just a grammar-stickler on the prowl), but nothing horrific. Excellent job!

Rating: Erm...8.7/10

Lol I'm glad you like it.  The story gets pretty complex though haha--I mean, your ally wants to kill your main enemy, but his method of doing so is the same reason you want to kill the main enemy in the first place :P.  But don't worry, it all falls together in the end very nicely IMO.

And yes, I love Glow too ^_^.

I am going to try hard to make LA2 require a lot more strategy in battles.  In case you don't know, there are going to be 3 main characters, and they can change jobs...but the job change system has NEVER been done before, I'm pretty sure.  But yeah, the "Attack, Attack, Attack, Heal" method (as someone else described it) should be improved in the sequel.

Thx for the feedback btw! ^_^

I just finished the game today, and I gotta say, the whole thing was very well made! In the beginning, the story was a little mediocre as was the mapping, but the battles were fun and that's what kept me playing, but as I progressed, I noticed the story getting better and even the mapping, it's almost like I was playing a before and after game.

Also, I loved the last boss fight! But I really.. really..
didn't like the ending, it was sad :\
I was hoping for a sequel somehow that takes place shortly after this one.

Funny you say that, because you're not too far off by saying it's a "before and after" game.  This was my first REAL game (of course I've made like 10 other 5 minute games on all the other RPG Makers), and it was kind of a learning thing for me that ended up [to my surprise] being pretty good.

And don't worry, there is a sequel that takes place not too long after LA1 that I am going to start in a while ^_^.  It's just taking a while for a scripter and spriter and all that (I have them, but it takes a while to do the stuff).

Thanks for the feedback.

Glad to see that everyone loves your game, i havent been on for a while and never got back to playing la1 after i deleted it at last boss O.o, im hoping ill get around to it soon though
Good luck with la2

I've set all crystals to blue in one of the rooms in the Lich's place, but the main crystal still says:
"All the other crystals must follow me."
What am I supposed to do? Btw, sorry that this is a bit of a bump, but I've played it for 7 hours now! I want to see the ending!! ;_; Help?

Haha the ending is awesome IMO.

The thing is that the green and blue colors look VERY similar, so you more than likely have one or two set to green, but it looks like blue.  Look VERY closely, and maybe turn down your brightness or contrast or something.

The reason it's hard to tell is because on my old desktop that I made it with, I guess it wasn't very bright cuz it was fine when I was making it.  Sorry about that -_-.

That actually isn't the last dungeon, btw.  You have one large final dungeon with 4 really hard bosses in it to deal with before you get the the final boss...which is really, really hard haha.  I want to make the player work for the bangin' ending ^_^.

That final boss (big giant red demon thingy at pillar) keeps blasting the hell outta me. I can't even kill one of his hands! D: Do you have any hints on this dude?
