The program is looking great. Do you need help with anything? Any wish list of things you've been needing to add? If not, do you have an updated to-do list? I'd love to be of assistance in any way possible.
 
Good job so far.  It's quite an undertaking, and I imagine that quite a bit from your project will be useful beyond an FF6 starter kit, like for example a standalone Esper system that could be built upon by other scripters, or the battle system itself which is the epitome of side-view battle IMO.  Vehicle control for Mode7 is in hot demand as well.  Will your battle system also feature a bug by which Evade is a useless stat because MBlock is used instead? ;)

My two cents, the window system in FF6 was very distinctive.  The individual windows did not have their own gradients; rather, the gradient was drawn across the entire screen when windows existed everywhere, and only across the message window when that was the only one.  The window background is tiled, and the most impressive feat that you could do with it is to mimic the window system by which players could change all eight of the colors which produced the background.  The full-screen gradient is most interesting to me though.  It requires re-writing the Window class (which you may have already done for all I know of skipping 15 pages of this thread) and drawing gradients on top of the window background only, which are drawn for the entire screen but confined to a viewport.  Such a feature to add onto a Window class rewrite would be such a graphical improvement over RMXP's default that I'd want to use it in any project, regardless of Final Fantasy affiliation :D

Thanks for the comments. I will keep things like the Psycho Cyan bug only for fun (and as an option) but the code won't be buggy for real :tongue:
About the windows, I don't have a rewritten Window class simply because I'm too lazy to make one right now. I should get to work on it soon.
I was able to mimic the full screen gradient effect simply by adding a dummy window on the background and setting every other windows back_opacity to 0. Quite a dirty method, I know. The current version of the SDK uses the RGSS2 Window class, which is a bit different than the RGSS1 class.
Anyway, it won't be a problem with my own Window class.

Now, about the next demo, I'm afraid I'll have to postpone the release date. I'm experiencing weird crashes; no RGSS errors but real crashes.
I'll have to find the source of these crashes, which isn't going to be funny.
Besides that, everything is going fine! I'm working on the SwordTech Rename screen and the Input Customization screen. I also have a good amount of new screenshots which should be available soon.

Awww that sucks. I hope you get it fixed. I'm dying to see the airship and battle systems x.x.


By the way, would it be possible to take out the OGG looping for other projects? Say a Fangame of mine (see sig)

Any new information available as far as your progress with the next demo?
 
I'm sorry about the character sets I said I'd rip. My parents are out of town and I'm at a friends house so I have no way to rip them. My parents should be back by.... August 12th. But I do have some character sets ripped. Not all of them, but some.

To change the text, look into the Sprite_Info class in the script editor. You will find these 2 strings in there.

Dude all this waiting is killing me. is it still crashing? please please please upload a new demo. lol i really am getting obsessed with seeing how you doing with this project aint i. Seriously low you are doing a wkd job my friend
 
When should we expect an update by any chance? I have grown very anxious since I have started on FFEssence once again, and it's killing me to ask this question x.x.

Being anxious sucks >_<.
 
Yeah I know, it sucks hard. I'm still having this crash but at least, I know that it crashes only when I get out of a battle and try to open a menu. I don't know what's the cause but I hope to find it soon. I'm working really really hard on it!

I'll keep you informed.
 
Hey Dargor. I had a idea. Why dont you let a couple of us have access to what you got so far and we may be able to find what is causing the crash? I'm pretty good at finding out why things go wrong
