FF7 ps3

I wouldn't really say FFVII doesn't deserve a remake. I would say not now. As in, it's only 10 years old. It doesn't need a remake in this time. Maybe the 20th anniversary, but the 10th is too young.

Well ... You know, on second thought, Squeenix can spend its money on whatever it wants to. I don't care :P

But I'd prefer just more installments on different worlds with different characters, and *NOT* in Ivalice. I mean, Ivalice is probably my least favorite FF world (geography-wise, magic-wise, history-wise, etc.) and they've re-visited it more often than any other. Gaia (ffvii) is probably second-most revisited (with spin-off games and movie included), followed by probably Spira (FFX).

An FF7 remake would convince me to buy a PS3. I'm already on the bar on getting PS3, just don't have the extra cash for it but I would actually try and get the extra cash in the hopeful event of a remake XD. Of course, thats assuming the game is actually good as the original and hopefully better(more weapons, materia, summons, items, quests).

Hehe..it seems like people who like FF9 don't like FF7 but I like them both! FF9 should not be remade however, the graphics are beautiful as they are.

They can't even get games set in Ivalice correct.  Why should they go to another fantasy world?

I swear, I nearly had a fit when they retconned FFXII into Tactics and Vagrant Story's universe.  If they ever make another sequel to FFXII (well, a sequel to the DS version) then there better be a good explanation of how bright-and-cheery-bunny-girl-anime land turned into bad-ass-dark-ages-Delita-is-downright-awesome land.

My excuse is the same as Celes, the music. Nobuo Uematsu is insane at what he does.
sorry, but damn near every song from the first disc sounds the same. sure the sephiroth theme is awesome, and cosmo canyon, but almost every song on that game sounds exactly like the last.
ff9's cheery baroque/renaissance themed music totally fucking owns the boring, dreary atmosphere of FF7s.

Yeah. I do agree. FFIX's is, IMO, better than VII's. But VI's is better than both of them IMO. I can't really think of the worst, and all though I don't like FFVII to much, I won't say it's the worse music. I'll probably have to go with XII... or... well I can't think of any! Even the side quests are good, like Crystal Chronicles, Tactics, ect.

not sure if this has been mentioned in this thread already but there is supposedly a ff7 "remake" coming to the ps3. However, its going to be a psn title. The graphics wont be on par with todays games i believe, all though it is getting a graphical update.

I think the source was the surfer girl and it was a part of her rumours and shes known for her accuracy. I'm a little dissappointed if this is true as i prefer a full remake rather than an update for psn. But we still have another ten years for the ff7 franchise which is plenty of time for a remake (although im also expecting the story after dirge of cerberus to be finished as Genesis is now back).

EDIT:

lol, why not. Shes yet to be proven wrong ^_^ Shes pretty popular in the gaming news world now because of her rumours but i can understand the blog part of your comment but arent your words: "a girl" a bit harsh? O.o

If I was a male, the "a girl" part would be, indeed, harsh. But still. If Square were to remake FFVII, they will have to wait long after FFXIII. Nomura, Kitase, all them are working on something right now.

I wouldn't mind a remake of ff7. I was never into final fantasy at that point, so by the time I came to play it the visuals made me want to rake my eyes out. It was quite shocking really, even when compared to games of it's time. There was really no need to give all the charaters hooves for hands.

Why?  So we can run around offline going, "Where the fuck am I going?!"

On the topic of music: FF8's ftw.  That's part of the reason why I love it so much.

I agree actually. Vanadiel was an incredible world...but it's hampered by the fact it's set in a MMO. Sure, I wouldn't mind a create-a-character. But other than that, if they made it similar to FFXII, but improved, I'll regain some faith in Square.

I liked FF8's music the most, too.

Oh, and the FF7 remake for PSN isn't really much of a remake, it's just being released on the PSN like many PS1 games have been.

It's not too hard to navigate Vana'diel once you are familiar with it. I mean, there are plenty of ways to create a game in that world. A typical RPG, where you take the role of a Hume and through a series of events, meet up with a Tarutaru, and Elvaan, and a female Hume whom becomes your love interest (lulz). Or an 'of Mana' type side-game, similar to Crystal Chronicles, where you create a character/party to your liking and progress through mission-based storylines and sidequests to reach an eventual goal. Simply because the maps in the Online game are perhaps messy and not very streamlined doesn't mean that the world and dynamics of the world couldn't be applied to another game.

For the most part, Vana`diel is basically an "offline" story placed online, all of the stories from FFXI 1.0, Visions of Ziraat, Chains of Promathia, Treasures of Aht Uhrgan and Wings of The Goddess plays out like "you" are the one and only one progressing the story and its happening in the sequence an offline RPG would.

More games set in Vana`diel would be good honestly, all they'd have to do is throw in some "filler" zones to space the gaps, since most areas are just xp areas.

remaking ff1 or 2 with impressive graphics would be fucking retarded. i hate to put it like that, but it would be a HUGE waste of money and effort. the games had little to NO story at all, and were pretty much just you trolling about the world map trying to figure whats the next city you need to visis,t and how to get there without getting eaten alive by the ridiculously overpowering enemies.

id also like to mention that in the event that they actually remake FF7 on the ps3, theres no way i'd be able to bring myself to play through that fucking game again. even with good graphics, i've just seen the game too much its no longer interesting. i didn't 'get' the obscure storyline the first time. i didn't 'get' it the second time. i didn't 'get' it the third time. i still dont get it. i dont care about sephiroths love afair with the planet enough to watch it in HD.

i swear its like they made the entire game first, then went in and just had 4 different people in 4 different rooms all fill in the dialog for random scenes in the game.

now so many people refer to the snes final fantasys under different numbers because of the different numbers they were released under, but anyways onto the point. Your not referring to the final fantasy 2 based around cecil the dark knight are you?
cuz if you are.....be prepared for me to defend the hell out of that game.

He's likely talking about FFI and FFII - JP.

If not, FFIV has already been remade, which is the American "FFII", it's on the DS by the FFXI team. Now, most people didn't think they could remake FFIII in a such a way it would have 3D graphics and an actual story..I don't see why people doubt Square so much when they prove every time they're not ones to be taken lightly.

Much like the whole:

"There will be no game after FFVII worth playing...the series is dying."

And yet out comes FFVIII..love it or hate it..it was a great realistic game, realistic in the sense it can logically happen in some cases.

Then comes FFIX..again, love it or hate it, it went back to the Amano era basically. So really, if they remake FFI and FFII..not the NA/EU FFII, but the Japanese FFII with..as they say...modern graphics...people would play it, people would love it, people said FFIV shouldn't or couldn't have been remade..and yet it's one of the top selling DS games in Japan.
