FF7 ps3

I figured I'd scroll down pass the "FF7 is lame" bullshit and go on to say that Square is planning on milking FF for whatever they can get out of it until FF13 is released. As for the FF7 bashing honestly, it's been nothing more than a trend since the game became so popular. There's nothing wrong with FF7 that you can't find in a thousand other Japanese RPGs. Now, why remake it? Same reason they remade FF1, 2, 4, 5, 6, and Tactics... to get paid. I don't think 8 or 9 got what was expected of them in terms of sales.

I'd gladly buy it if it were to drop. It's sounds like they've revised the soundtrack nicely. The 3D modeling has improved tremendously, but I'd love to see actual game play. I wouldn't doubt that it would look similar to the FMVs seeing how PS3 upgraded the look of most of its returning blockbuster games (GTA4 in mind). Definitely not a bad looking game and I've been longing to play through it again, so hell this may be a way to do it without having to stare at those strange polygon shaped characters.

I like FF7, I like it better than ff8 (I find ff8 boring) and 10 isn't my taste. 9 makes me turn off because of the characters. 12, I'm finding the money to buy it.

But ff7 remake must've some huge bonuses or something and I'll be sad if they changed some of the storyline to fit Final Fantasy Last Order or something. But still, I want to see something new, and it's a really sad thing I Can't buy ffxiii nor play it x.x

you got some problem with creative, and  entertaining characters?

I think it's more that he finds it unappealing when the entire cast doesn't have some sappy, melodramatic mess of a past. That, of course, being a grat way to describe the backstories of the cats of FFVII.

That's just a tech demo. It was shown directly after the original version I believe, to show how far the technology has come. (FFVII was one of the first games on PS1, so it's fitting that they show a tech demo featuring it during the beginning of the PS3's life).

If any FF deserves remaking, it's VI--but then how would they do Ultros? XD

Nothing needs to be remade, IMO. Why? For better graphics? Who cares? With an FF7 remake then it's safe to assume there'd be no W-Item cheat, and I just couldn't live with that!

They keep showing this tech demo though..it was at the end of a recent Final Fantasy game (trying to remember which one) which was pretty much in the "trailer" sense.

If they do remake FFVII..they better complete the damn thing lol.

I found VII fun because of the free roaming and being able to explore a world that was unique to RPGs at the time. However, with NewGen games restricting itself to a few "pretty" 3D maps for each town, anything entertaining about FFVII is rather stripped. I recall having so much fun wondering around the slums and paying attention to small but quirky details in the background.

For the most part. FFIX was very much what I wanted in an RPG. Quirky and fun characters and a huge world to explore. The characters had their somber moments that defined the game, but at the same time, it wasn't overdone with sorrow and pain. Don't get me wrong, I liked FFVIII, but sometimes I felt that I enjoyed playing as Laguna and his posses more than Squall, as for FFVII, sometimes I just wanted to fast foward the game.

The only thing I liked VII over IX was that I loved the chocobo racing. Heh.

People, don't forget it's also an ANNIVERSARY year for Final Fantasy and they are milking all things Final Fantasy.  Hell, characters/classes from all Final Fantasy related games have been on advertisements of Square-Enix now for some time.  Many of which have no actual connection to new products.

Given what Venetia said - which I didn't even think of - it's a great ploy to show the company's past, present, future in one shot.  The risk taking Square we all know, love, and hate is doing what they do best.  Buzz.

Wel I seven was a great game but a remake is always fun ..
Sadly , theye aren't remaking FF1,2,4,5,6 on ps3 .. that would make money .
Because Those FF weren't bad and NEVER been on such graphics ..
Also FF& and following have lots of fans .

remaking ff1 or 2 with impressive graphics would be fucking retarded. i hate to put it like that, but it would be a HUGE waste of money and effort. the games had little to NO story at all, and were pretty much just you trolling about the world map trying to figure whats the next city you need to visis,t and how to get there without getting eaten alive by the ridiculously overpowering enemies.

id also like to mention that in the event that they actually remake FF7 on the ps3, theres no way i'd be able to bring myself to play through that fucking game again. even with good graphics, i've just seen the game too much its no longer interesting. i didn't 'get' the obscure storyline the first time. i didn't 'get' it the second time. i didn't 'get' it the third time. i still dont get it. i dont care about sephiroths love afair with the planet enough to watch it in HD.

i swear its like they made the entire game first, then went in and just had 4 different people in 4 different rooms all fill in the dialog for random scenes in the game.

I'm sorry, but this just deserved being said twice.

Awesome Bro

Okay, I played some of FF7, and thought it was great, except the damn lego graphics on the characters.
I thought FF8 was the biggest waste of time ever, YAY lets go to school and then kill Ifrit for an EXAM !?!, *Ifrit 1 hits you... "So... do I pass ?"*, and then get into our beasty milk float and *vroom vroom* around a map !, sorry, but it was SO boring.
FF9 - Legend of a game, I thought it was amazing for the time it was out, I never finished it, still getting there, but yeah, it was great.
FFX - One of the best RPG's I've ever played up to date, I absolutely loved it, completed it like 20 times with EVERYTHING done.
FF1+2 = OMFG WHO MADE THIS, A RETARDED CATERPILLAR !?, No thanks, buh bye.
FF3 Remake on DS - I bought this game, and actually enjoyed it although it had the same storyline as like 500 more RPGs, I still enjoyed it though, completed it too, not bad of a game, def. worth the money.
FF12 - Not played for long, except for 10 mins at my friends house, whoever thought of the enemies on this must've been on crack, Rogue Tomato or something daft... I told him to turn it off as soon as I saw that.

My fave ones are FF9 + X, they got me most involved, X by far, but still 9 was great too, 7 wasn't bad either but abit slow, and boring at start.

Roll on any remakes to come, I'm gonna get'cha !

You do realize that this was one of the first PS1 games, right? They didn't have the technology to make fully-fleshed out, high-poly 3D meshes. Back in 1997, these graphics were amazing and top-of-the-line.

The only other note-worthy (separate-screen-battle-based) RPG that debuted around that time was Dragon Quest. The concept of the RPG was revolutionary back then, and FF1 & 2 had more story than most other games released before them. Having more fleshed-out stories was actually brought about by Dragon Quest, and the Final Fantasy team piggybacked off the idea with FFIII (The true FF3, not FFVI).

Back then, the story wasn't hackneyed! It's only hackneyed nowadays because everyone's copied it :P

I liked FFIX the best of all FF games too, however. Wasn't crazy about X. I liked XII better than X.

Anyway this is becoming a 'Which FF do you prefer' thread, so either get back on topic or I'll lock it! (....... Yeah, that warning is for myself as well >_>)

All though a PS1 game, it could have been better. The n64 had better graphics. Plus, I have seen games pre-FFVII on the PS1 look half as decent.

Ignore the overration part. I do agree it's overrated, but it shows some pre-FFVII games. Not on the PS1, but you know...

I'd like an FFVII remake. Not just for the graphics, but the music too. I like some of the songs and would love to hear them with a nice sound quality rather than midis. I don't mean remixes either, just the same songs with a higher sound quality. I particularly liked Ahead on our way song, though the only remix I've heard of it was horrible.

Midgar is pretty awesome too, so I had wished they made more of the game take place there. But if it's going to be a straight remake, that probably won't happen.

It has really been a while since I've played through FF7 (I tried recently, but it's kinda buggy on the PC so I couldn't get Yuffie, and it would quit out on me at times so I stopped). I didn't hate it.

As for FF6 remake, the game itself looks nice, I'd rather not have a 3D remake of it. Especially if the characters are going to look like this:

FF6 has great pixel art. FF7 has bad looking 3D. I'd rather they remake FF7 because of that. FF6 looks great enough as is that it doesn't need the help.

Either way, I don't have a PS3, nor will I buy one anytime soon so I'll just probably get the soundtrack and enjoy that.

Agreed. If they were to remake FFVI, though, I would rather be more like... FF1 and 2. Like less pixely.

I would like the music of FFVII to be remade, too.

Injury

Awesome Bro

screw all of you who think that a remake for this historical play station game would be milking the series. Since the first thoughts/rumors of PS3, everyone who has enjoyed any form of RPG wants FF7 to be remade.

My excuse is the same as Celes, the music. Nobuo Uematsu is insane at what he does. I also would like to see expansion across all aspects of the game, from the Chocobo racing, the sub game, and snowboarding. I can only imagine what the summons will look like in the end. For all you naysayers, go play more pokemon and yu gi mo.

oh, celes. if they ever made a remake of the best snes game ever, I'd be down with it! Imagine 3D Narsche! :D

Beat me up if you will, I'm an avid fan of most the games in the FF franchise.

Everything but X-2, and 9.

Yes, Injury, you are totally right. I mean, why the hell should we have our own opinions?! Individual views are stupid, and must be stomped out. Especially when they pertain to FFVII, the best, and most awesome-est game of all time.  :brow:

Not everyone feels the need to :fap: whenever they lay eyes on Cliud(or Tifa), like you do. There's a difference between being an avid fan of the series(which I consider myself to be), and being a stupid fanboy that has to be a douche to anybody that doesn't love FFVII like a wife. So there.

Honestly, an FFVII remake wouldn't be anything more than a further milking of the license. How many spin-offs of that game already exist? Too many, if you ask me.

If only Square-Enix would focus more on creating new, original, and refreshing games(like 'The World Ends With You'), ijnstead of beating the Final Fantasy dead horse to death. Or they could at least give Dragon Quest the same treatment.

I want an English Dragon Quest IV DS!!
