I would much rather have the FF IV and VI remake then any of the others, no offense to any of the ff7 fans, but after playing ff6, i just didnt find 7 that appealing, i played about 1/2 way through, maybe i didnt give it a big enough chance, i just thought 6 was amazing and best in the series, even if it didnt have the great rydia in it lol. yes im a fanboy of rydia.

FF7 was a great RPG in the 90s, and is still a great RPG for the spirit of the 90s. If they were to remake it now, it would be the spirit of Square-Enix 2000+ which is all flash, no substance. I doubt they would do it successfully without whoring out all their characters, the storyline, and the entire game itself.

I would honestly not want Square-Enix to rerelease FF7 on PS3 (which they won't).
Why? Just look at Advent Children. Not that I hated it, it was an all right movie, but it just didn't feel like FF7. They focused all their resources into making flashy CGI animation and not enough on the story. I felt like when the characters made their appearance, it was more about showing off what the character would look like in realistic CGI graphics and less on who that character was.
I really hate how they're turning FF7 into some sort of crap anime. If they tried to remake it as a PS3 game, it would focus a hell of a lot more on the graphics than the presentation of the story.
I mean, not that it would matter if they ended up releasing such a thing. I just wouldn't buy it. FF7 never had to be pretty for me to play it, and it still doesn't have to be (However, I'm probably one of the few people who actually like FF7's graphics :smile

.My concern over a remake is that I know Square would remove the wonkiness that made FF7 what it is. Advent Children lacked humor completely (except when Reno and Rude stole the scene... seriously, the entire movie should have been about THEM) and they made all the characters super serious and shit. FF7 had a serious story, but it was ridiculously lighthearted. If it was remade, I can guarantee that:
the sado-masochist black mage sex scene would be gone
those homosexual wrestlers would be gone
Cloud would wear a black suit instead of a purple one
Cloud won't have sex with Tifa at the end of the second disc, instead he'd brood with angst in a dark corner
That fat Shinra boss guy wouldn't be hit by a truck, instead he'd get Omnislashed and die dramatically
In order to please feminists, Cid wouldn't verbally abuse his assistant
The scene with recruiting Vincent wouldn't be one of the most awkward scenes ever (hey guys, I come from a coffin WAIT LET ME JOIN YOU)
Barret wouldn't make a comment about PIZZA BEING THE ROOT OF ALL EVIL
Barret wouldn't be wearing a sailor suit on that ship
You would only date Aeris at the Golden Saucer (dating Barret was hilarious)
You wouldn't be able to steal Tifa's orthopedic panties
The poorly translated yet hilarious jokes (like Reno stepping on the flowers or THIS MAN ARE SICK) would be removed

Remaking the game will just destroy its original, poorly translated charm.

rumor has it that Sony is going to releice FFVII in the Playstation Store in about a year, it won't be a remake, but a copy you can buy off of the internet and play on either your PS3 or PSP
