Ethereal Dreams

@threesword: I will agree with Rya's face picture not being the best (we already have plans for a new one) but I thought the others were fine. (In paticular, Phylips was my favorite) And if it's the pointy chins that bug you, don't expect those to change any time soon. That's a style quirk of Makios. (And the current music is just temporary and will be changing in the next demo ^^)

From Game said:
Ryaena: Papa?
Darin: Rya?
Celine: She's... so cute.

My reaction: Okay it must be how Darin views Rya when he's drunk...

When the face still showed:Holy Snap that is her face...but why was it cute?

Morgan's nose is a little big and the eyes are misplaced
Celine-good-I'm not sure but my instincs tell me something is wrong in that picture@_@

EDIT: I JUST FOUND OUT!! Her nose is a little long.
Darin-pretty good:thumb: I like his beard
Phylip-excellent(work of an artist)

Again, sorry for my rude comments and don't take them offensivly...-_- orz=a bowing person

I might fix it during my free time [Rya's face].

EDIT:Her left cheek is a little jagged.
I.E. your right cheek is straight yet the left cheek is too curvy
You might want to move the left eye a little right
I think that's it^_^

MAKIO-KUTA'S POST

2nd and third pictures are good. They show the emotion well. However, the first picture show that Rya could be sad, or angry. The eyebrows on the left eye point up (meaning sadness) the right eye's eyebrow is slanted down (meaning angry) The body and the clothing lines look great and ahem you may think I'm a perv but listen. THe breast size change thorught the screenshots O_o The first pic is her being flat chested and the second and third show her *ahem* more developed.
I give the body shots a 3.5/5 keep up the work
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The enemy pictures...Okay, The right most one's (the female) the upper most boot should be slanted more above
And it looks like the middle one has been struck by the shortness mistake. The right arm or my right looks like she is about to touch the sword, but is too short. I may suggest to move that end of the sword to her hands and grip the handle to show her in a more "prouncing" stance

We were well aware of how bad Rya's is, and like I said there, we have plans to make a new one (she's just...stubborn...and doesn't like to turn out well)

And as far as Celine and Morgan.. they're NPCs. Something being *slightly* off isn't worth fixing.

As long as you didn't think Darin or Phylips were bad, I'm a happy camper.

*has lots of those books* n.n'

I see what you mean about some of the things said about Ryaena's conversation pictures. Eyebrows are especially easy to fix. I didn't bother changing them between emotions. *a lazy bum*

Ryaena's face picture is getting a major makeover in a little while (as is her battler). And I'll look into some other things here and there. Though lately...it's been all about the tilesets for me.

Hmm...thanks for the crits. XD Most of the time when I ask people to be more specific, they don't ever reply. (and when I say that I mean mostly in other places, not so much on this forum) But you did! I was surprised! XD So thanks.

Did a lot of scripting this weekend. Probably sitting at around 60-70% scripts completition for the entire project. n.n Here's some screenshots on what went down.

First, finally got the new title screen in order. Here's a look:
http://i115.photobucket.com/albums/n288 ... ts/sc6.png[/IMG]
It's animated to scroll up from the bottom and then fade in the logo and options.

Also played with the battle a bit. Not quite finished with this yet. But here's a look so far:
http://i115.photobucket.com/albums/n288 ... ts/sc5.png[/IMG]
HP, SP bars, icon stats and command options, and the little combo gauge in the corner. The gauge fills alright, but we've yet to code in what it actually does. n.n (That selection arrow for commands isn't final, just a filler.)
Darin's spear looks a little off (covering his hands) because we're playing with setting it up to have different weapons when you change equipment. This works now, we just need to get the images set up right.

The next line of action was to get the reserve party in. Here's a look of where they go on the menu:
http://i115.photobucket.com/albums/n288 ... ts/sc1.png[/IMG]
By hitting right, you can select and move party members around from the active party and from the reserve. Still some glitches when you have less than 4 in the active party, but it's shaping up nicely. Selecting skills, stats, and equip also allows you to pick from your active party or reserve. (the reserve icons are subject to change; Makio isn't 100% happy with them yet.)

Next, was Makio's evil request to show all stats in the equip menus and stores. In the end, it worked out fine.
This is a look at the new equip menu:
http://i115.photobucket.com/albums/n288 ... ts/sc2.png[/IMG]
The stats are shown to the left and show the changes changing weapons will make. Also displays the talents before and after, something a lot of people were suggesting.
Next is the changes we made to the store. First it prompts you towards what kind of things you'd like to buy. Here's how that looks:
http://i115.photobucket.com/albums/n288 ... ts/sc3.png[/IMG]
When the store doesn't sell anything in one catagory, that catagory is dulled and selecting it is disabled.
When you select weapon, you get this:
http://i115.photobucket.com/albums/n288 ... ts/sc4.png[/IMG]
Highlighting a weapon will show how the stats affect the person who can use it to the right. Talents and all. n.n
Armour isn't finished yet, so there's no screenshot at this time. And items looks much like the typical item menu
Also we've been revamping NCPs and tilesets the last little while, and progressing both database and resource wise. We're still in the green for our demo v2.0 being finished before August.
It will have all these and more features implemented when we do release it.

Anyway, once we get the music for the title screen, we hope to release a demo of it so people can see how it looks animated.

Thanks to everyone who's played the demo and left feedback and/or spent the time reading this update.

Damn. You guys are pretty good. I gotta' say, I am still impressed with this project and would love to see it finished one day. I like the customized feel you guys have going on... it's very rare to see rmxp games break from the "let'salluseRTP" mold. Anyways, you've got a supporter in me!

(As a side note, Makio, I'm totally going to take you guys down. Just you wait hehe.... ^_^)

I started playing the demo, although I didn't get very far. I have no problems with it though, so far, and I really like the art and systems. The only thing you might need to spruce up a little are the maps, some are really large and empty-ish. Well, needlessly empty. Anyways...awesome game you've got going here. ^^

Thanks. n.n Glad to hear you like the style and the systems.
About the maps, the tilesets are still under construction for the most part, so yeah...some of the maps suffer from that. Hopefully that little issue will come to pass when I finish the tilesets up. (darn things take forever)

Again, thanks for the comment. n.n

Ah, still. One of the better projects within the community, seeing as how I didn't turn it off after or during the introduction. I actually plan on completing the demo, I'm just really busy/ADHD.

P.S - Hey fellow canuck. ;]

As someone who makes tilesets and is currently making like, three I know how painstaking it is to make them from nothing but a blank canvas. Especially ones with enough variation so that your map isn't blank or overly monotinous. So, a tip of the hat goes to the tileset maker! Keep it up!

As for the art. I don't know whats the big deall TBH. It looks fine to me .I dunno , maybe its because Ithink this is just a hobby ..(isn' it?) but If people spend this much effort complaining about original art and graphics , people will just stop making them. *shrugs* I guess its just me .

I meant to say this in my other post but didn't have time, but the main reason I like this game is because its not all doom and gloom from the get go. I mean I understand the plot may get dark in areas, it has to, but I lose interest quickly when I have to sit there and read the main character's mental rant about the shortcomings o f his life for 20 minutes. (Usually slow cliche squaresoft music, and dimmed , desaturated graphics follow).

The characters have great personalities and I like how they clash. It's like, you don't want anything bad to happen to them, but you know its gonna eventually lol

Anyways, I'm gonna stop ranting now ^_^ good luck with the game!

I really don't think it's cliche at all, I mean, the game starts with a guy getting drunk with some prostitutes. I don't know, I haven't seen that ever though. The characters are quite well done too, so even if the story did turn out to be mildly cliche, I believe that the characters would be able to carry the story on. Like Romancing Walker, the story got really weak in that game for the get-go, but that's one of the only RPGmaker games I played the whole way through, basically because the character design was so well done, and I was interested in seeing what happened to them.

Sorry, I didn't mean this game was cliche. lol, I meant other games, and I'm sure Showkaizer meant the same.
That's the reason why I like this game, very original.

:)

Ahh...where to start. XD
@JakeyZombie and ShowKaizer: Glad our characters strike you as different and entertaining. Character development is a big drive to the story.
@JakeyZombie: Yay! Canadian!
@ShowKaizer: It makes me really happy that your interested in our game. Honestly, I really look up to your pixel work...so getting compliments on my maps...Ah! I don't know how to put it in words. n.n I hope they continue to get only better. And thanks for your words about artwork. I agree, I don't know why people make a big deal about it. n.n So I draw people with pointy chins? Sora has big feet. *shruggs*
and @FotT: Thanks always for your support.

And to everyone, another thanks! I hope the team continues to churn out good stuff and that we never let anyone down! (I hope I touched on everything...n.n if not, racheal can pick up my slack)

Edit: Role model...that's the silly word I couldn't remember...look up to you like a role model. *smashes head into convinient pillar*

I liked the demo. The dialogue was great and the battle song was catchy. Also, the whole "Talents" system caught my eye. Keep going with it, I like it.

I loved the demo! :)
I thought the dialogue was really funny, Darin is a great character. The songs were very catchy and enjoyable, heck I'm listening to that boss theme right now! :P

Thanks very much.
The music is, as we've said, going to change.

Glad our dialouge is good. n.n Keep getting more popular Darin! You can do it! lol

thanks again n.n
