@ J Street - I dunno really J - I just create whatever and wherever :) technology is crucial in the story, its the driving force of the games society, but stylewise, in level design it's still very fantasy. I can see why you would say steampunk from the three new screens though! That battleback was just a randoms selection momentarily I choose beasue I never see it used. The in game screen is from an underground hideout.

@ MasterMind - Awesome, Cheers man. So is that all picture based still, or did you use the windowskin in the end? It looks image based but to be sure!

@ Far - Thanks, this is my first attempt at a game with any of the rpg maker incarnations, other than playing about here and there, but I'm doing the best I can with it!

I ended up making it windowskin based. Came out easier that way. I'm heading out to go grab a shiny new Wii, but when I get back, I'll pm you the fully complete main menu.

Will you wait untill you have every single system working?
From what I tested, it could be posted right a way, but waiting a bit, never harmed anybody.
 
Well, I wasnt going to release it without a battle system developed, but I'm in the process of doing that at the moment. Alot more of the story has been done but there are still early parts of the game I need to go back and polish up on first too. I didn't really want the deafult menu in the demo but thanks to mastermind I think that will be okay, and there is a little original music that I wanted to get created first too.

@ Afro Samurai - It didn't used to do that, I don't knpw hwat made it doing that all of a sudden, but it's not the end of the world to leave it as that.

@ Sieghart - Yes sure I will be releasing a demo, I 'm just having a very busy stage at the moment with my final few months of university and I am also suffering from severe laziness... yes, laziness. I was trying to push it out before the cut off for the academy awards so I stood a chance... if I didn't have university I most likely would have managed it, but as it is, that's unlikely. When it is out, it won't be like a tech demo, I'm hoping to have it as a solid demo fully representing the first stage of what will be the final game.
 
Calibre, I've fixed the menu bug. The problem was that when the third character was added, it was actually looking for the fourth. That's why it worked for 1, 2, and 4 party members. The solution was extremely simple. I've also modified the STATISTICS window, making it how you wanted. Finally, I've fixed the name/level squishing. I'll upload a screenie later. 1:40 am here, and I have school at 9.
 
Thankyou Mastermind, much appreciated. You can get back to working on "Shadow of Humanity" now and pursue a demo for yourself!

btw You should reduce the "link logo" in your sig so it doesn't scroll! Like 600 x 150, becasue most of the time when I scrool down a page I just see the world/globe thing and not the actual logo!
 
As I'm going to have to [attempt] to put this project into the shelves for a month or so, I thought I'd let everyone know what I had been up to as of late, when I found the time.

SO, developer log or whatever:

Developing the next and second full village in the game, Sierro Falls. I won't mention why or what it is all about, other than that it's a resort town for the rich in the world of Neqa'ael.

Creating the battle system - This is it pretty much done now and what I'm gonna go with, I'm happy with how it works, plus all the fairly original look to it all. I just used scripts from here, and it may just have a small edit to display facesets instead of names. The arrows are a blitz system, a substitute idea for the skill shot feature I originally intended to somehow have scripted.

Finalised the menu with mastermind and solved some graphical issues, this is the final version.

Gone back and added a good ol' spit polish to the first half of the game, adding new animations, rewriting dialogue, recreeating the cosmetic fog and ambience of the locations as well as adding in a battle tutorial - now that I have a battle system. Here's an example of the newer atmosphere. Hopefully it will benefit the people that have always said my maps will be too dark to navigate.

Now, I have a battle system functioning, it makes releasing a demo a far more likely possibility within the near future, it's just an annoyance a busy eriod has come for me at this time.

i got one question...
if i am now mistaken the burning effect screenie you have there is a script right? where did you get the script of that burning house in your screenshot
i remember someone posted at .net but i dont know where to find it now
so where did you get that script?
