One question about the features;  Is there going to be marriage?  If so, will you support same-sex marriage such as Ragnarok Online (Where you have to get permission first), I am not asking the same sex part because I am...  err...  but just because it came across my mind.
 
Marriage? The trouble with marriage in an online game is it's a little bit... permanent. It could cause problems, especially with parents wondering what the hell their kids are doing. And then of course, if two people get married for the novelty of it, and then decide they hate each other, they might stop playing the game, and of course a divorce system would be needed. It just seems a novelty to me, not something which would actually be worthwhile. :/

But if we ever did have such a system, then sex would play no part in it. Marriage is between two people, no matter what sex they are it shouldn't matter in the slightest.

Yea, sorry if the question seemed unusual...  I had just gotten married on Maple Story (why, I have no god damn clue) and had whitnessed a mariage on Ragnarok, so just questioning!
 
Very minor update, but I got rid of the fog on the Alpha map, which got the FPS from 14 up to 38. Makes me wonder if there's trouble with the fog system. :/

A fog is not necessary at all however, except in the Desert and the Myre, where it is for a mini-game type effect (sandstorms and hallucinations from the myre-fog).

Anyway.

In a lame attempt to get people to register on the forums, I'll be sending out the first issue of the Incendi Herald (a newsletter for Vengeance) soon, and I'll include an activation code for some free gifts, only available through the newsletter, which is only available via the forums. http://forums.vengeance-rpg.com :p
 
Evidently someone attacked the wiki, deleting some pages. I've been able to track down their IP address, which I've been able to link to a hotmail address. They aren't registered on the forums though.

No problem, since they don't see to realise Wiki's have a built-in history-restoring system.

Hehe, nah they're not worth the trouble. Though if anyone was so say... go to the wiki, click recent changes, and scroll down to whoever deleted the pages, they'd find their IP address, which when searched on google will give you his e-mail address. But I didn't tell you that. :p

Sent the money for the server last night, got the program this morning. I'll have to wait 'till I get home to set it up, though I've done the database and script stuff and all that. Gotta install some other stuff as well with it.

So the game can potentially be online any time soon. Watch this space*!

*NB: Figure of speech. This space will not implode or anything, though now that I think about it that would be kinda cool. Mmm. Exploding space.
 
K, well, I do not like the idea of commercial XP/VX games, nor do I like the idea of Online RPGs, so let that mean something when I say that this looks pretty good. :)

Thanks. I guess I share Despain's idea of "if you can make money, do so"; but in the terms that getting money will help the game in the long run - money pays for upkeep of servers, better web hosting, better everything really. I mean some systems I have planned, would be a lot better with outside help, which money would pay for. I'm rambling again aren't I. Somebody shoot me :(

Hmm, hope nobody notices this hidden bump to keep this on the first page. :p Nah, only joking. Or am I... *x-files music plays*

It's based on Avalon from the King Arthur legends. Hence it includes areas such as the Holy Court of Camelot, and a character called Arthur.

I wont be able to do too much work on the game for the next few weeks. I have exams now, (that time of the year again). Maths Pure Core 1 & 2 on Thursday; History (three exams one after the other) the Monday after half term (2nd June), then a 15 hour ICT exam resit (of which I sat 4 1/2 hours of last time and got the highest grade in the school... not good when that's a C!)...

All A-level exams. Grr. In fact that's not enough R's...

That's too bad. I'm shocked also to see the topic fell back to the bottom of the page. But I really do look forward to this, even though it looks like it'll be another's while away. :)

The maths exams are this morning, 'till about 12 GMT. Then... next exams are 2nd June, for History. So between revising, there's still free time in the few weeks before that exam, at least.
 
I've been trying to work out a better way of calculating the combat level of the player.

It was this:

1/2(HP+MP) + (FAITH/10) - 9

(Rounded down)

So the max level, with 99 HP, 99 MP, 99 Faith, was 99. The starting level was 1.

I wanted to incorporate the classes somewhere in there, so I worked it out to:


lvl = 1/2[( 1/2(HP+MP) + (FAITH/10) - 9 + clv - 12)]

(I think, typing from memory).

Where:

clv = (class1 + class2 + class3 + class4 + class5) / (amount of classes * 4)

By a miraculous coincidence, if we take:

HP = 99, MP = 99, Faith = 99, all classes have max = 7, and amount of classes = 5,

We get:

Starter Level: 3
Max Level: 126

Remind you of anything? Hmm, not good. But a coincidence nonetheless...

Of course that would change with the amount of classes available.

It works out as:

+1 level = 2 HP or MP
+1 level = 1 class level
+1 level = ~20 Faith
