Its Indie, anyways, I read through much of the post however I dont believe you mentioned if character creation in much depth. If so, my bad.
Well, from what I recall (I may be wrong), you can design the character's looks (using a Visual Equipment script, I think) and also pick a class. Other than that, you'd have to ask Dan the Man.

Character creation will be using Visual Equipment, or something similar. Choose from several heads, skin tones, hair colours, and clothing styles, etc.

Good news: I'm currently talking to you not from my PC, but from the server. The server (machine) is working and connected to the 'net! (All thanks to Expertsexchange.)

The server (program) has yet to be finished, though I haven't checked the request topic today. But there's now a dedicated machine to test it on when it's ready. This is one of the things that was holding back the game. Wheee!

I'll be honest with you, I kinda brushed this game aside when I first heard about it... Since every single other RMXPMMO has failed miserably (to my knowledge). But now I'm really excited about Vengeance. Good to hear the server is up and running!

Awesome Bro

That scares me...
All thanks to Expertsexchange
Is that Expert sex change
Or Experts Exchange ?

*Cries in corner*

WOO FOR WYATT !

This is coming along nicely :)
I'm just wondering about a few things:

-Will the servers be up 24/7?
-Does the server need to be up in order for you to play? Or can you also play this single player offline?
-How is the lag when there are a lot of people online or gathered on the same screen at once?

Awesome Bro

Xathia, he hasn't tested for that yet, he's having a server capacity test, so we'll see how the lag handles then, and how many people can connect :thumb:

> The server(s) will be up 99.9% of the time.
> A server must be online to play, and thus you must have an Internet connection also.

Daniel has a job

Well, kinda.

I've decided, in order to get the game released, I need to think of this as a serious job. From now on, I am going to work as if this is a job I am getting paid for. So, 2 hours a day of working on the game, with overtime. In other words, I'm going to do a minimum of 2 hours work on the game per day, but can of course go over that. Also, I will try my hardest to make at least one design notes post every 2 days.

What does this change?

Well, nothing really, except I will be more active, and the game will be finished quicker.

Design Notes - 2nd April 2008

This sounds small, but it took forever. I went through the tileset for the exterior maps of the game with a fine toothed comb, taking out any unnecessary bits, duplicated bits, and filling in any blank space with a grid for adding new tiles.

This sounds like a nitpicky thing to do, but there's a good reason. I reckon around 1/3 of the tileset was wasted, with nothing on it. I'd ran out of space, maxing it out at around 32,000 pixels. Well, the newfound space brings more possibilities for new areas, and new details around the world.

This has caused a few problems - but none that cannot be solved.

On a side note, the following has also been done:

- Title credits roll
- Title theme music
- New airship tileset
- New snow tileset details
- Stonehenge-type tileset add-ons done
- Introduction to the game completed

Nice update. It's good to see you're really cracking down on this :)
I wish I could do the same for my game and dedicate a certain amount of time for it each day like a job... but unfortunately I need to pay the bills.

This is very exciting idea you have here. I would at least give it a try. I like MMORPG's a lot and I think having one in RMXP format could be pretty cool since I already love RMXP games XD I remember someone else tried this a long time ago ( like 6 months or more ) but I think they gave up on it which is a shame. Hope you can persevere, you sound very motivated. ; )

Wow, I'm amazed at the detail and thought you put into this. I've play Gods of Time, which is NOWHERE near as good as this. EXCELLENT work, I'm definetly going to buy this game and visit the forums.

Off-Topic: OMG, one of the screenshots has my name! (Daniel)

I think thats his name too buddy...

I'm really psyched for this, I wanna play it so badly, once it's released. I just don't know how to pay for it as I'm from America. And I phail at paying over the Internet.

And it's a proven fact that free versions of anything suck. Ah, well. Awesome job with this. =)

Thanks.

This is something again that I want to *try to* prove wrong with Vengeance.

The free version will still be updated and have much of the same "stuff", only the paid version will have four times *if not more* new releases, and a -much- larger world. Plus, most of the expansion packs ("campaigns") will either be paid only, or half free half paid. (There will still be free campaigns, but not as many).

I really need to remake the first post here, it majorly sucks, you can't even tell what the game is about and a lot of the info is wrong anyway. Meh, I'll get on it.

I know, but I'm just sorta the person who has to have the whole thing anyways. I'm not saying the free version of the game will suck, I'm sorry if it sounded like that. =3

But I'm still looking forward to this and hopefully I can find a way to pay for it. Maybe I can ask my dad.

There will also be competitions where the prize will be a membership.

Like... tournament style things, and such.

I play a lot of games, and yeah the free versions usually suck badly. Like... RuneScape for example (for which I'm shamed to admit I'm a paid member of... it's a good time waster. I find it helps when making Vengeance - RS open in one window, RMXP in the other, on a widescreen monitor it ain't too bad. With Dragonforce in the background, it's good for creativeness, I find.)
