Scripts for VX started appearing as soon as it was released overseas. Granted, most were from Japan, where it was already out, but we should still be decently furnished with our pick of scripts by the time it comes over the pond. Well, barring things like a change in scripting engines (although we have many people in the community who are fantastic with C++ and the like, so it might not impede progress much if it happened.)

This does look cool, but RMXP/VX can already create a Zelda engine/any type of abs... with proper scripts/event work. RMXP will still be better imo for abs systems, to be honest we don't know HOW good it'll be, still this looks pretty good but imo RMXP will still be the best for RPG's.
Only time will tell...

Not everyone can script... (I know there's tons of script stuff already but sometimes people just don't want to bother with this stuff... call us lazy sometimes...)

Well, I'm not sure what that's got to do with action games...

you don't have to script to make a good ABS in rmxp in fact i prefer my evented ABS to scripted ones ANY DAY, scripted ones very often feel incredibly clumsy

but that's not the point. WHO THE FUCK CARES ABOUT ACTION RPGS WHEN WE CAN MAKE PLATFORMERS JESUSCHRIST

1) Cool. :thumb: (And no kidding!)
2) I do! Just not nearly as much as the platformers!

It's time to bring back Megaman.

Or perhaps something more original which shares several mechanical similarities.

Let's see if I'm better at it than Capcom is. After playing X4, I'm pretty confident that I am.

It has a side-scroller mode and the Gradius-ish thing shows that it can handle projectiles (as if projectiles can't be done with events anyway.) I think it's safe to assume that Megaman-style gameplay would be pretty elementary.

Which motivates me to mix it up a bit.

yes, very much so.
Just don't make fangames, man.
Original stories are generally so much more awesome anyways, and who wants to use someone else's characters when you could use your own? Plus unique is awesome.

Hot damn, this is awesome. I've at least 4 Original ideas for gameplay and what not with the Platformer, and a whole slew of Action RPG ideas. And if this can support Isometric tiles, Hot damn, A Isometric Action RPG But, something on the website worries me.

Did anyone else notice that AGM will burn trough 300 MB of hard drive space?!??! That's unreasonably huge, even some of the more advanced game makers aren't that big. And what's the difference between this program and Stencyl?

Besides, that, I'm pumped! Can't wait!

Three hundred migs I can handle. I just hope this means that it'll have a lot of freedom to create coming right out the door, not just that the RTP is going to be huge or something stupid like that. If the slew of event commands is decently comprehensive, I think I'll go ahead and try some crazy evented shit; seeing what people could do way back in the 2k days always gets me a little fired up.

I just hope that it is comprehensive, and that VX's reverse-evolution (from an editor standpoint) was a minor hiccup and not the first symptom of a new tendency of Enterbrain's to shoot themselves in the foot while designing these things.

It's not quite as prevalent anymore, but yes. I just think of the 2k/3 era to consider what's possible under my own steam, not to mourn the loss of anything. Besides, the era isn't as over as I used to think! Must be the 16-bit graphics that keep people coming.
