A DarkSyDaZ Gallery

@ J.D. Slasha- Give me a picture and i sure will give a attempt at it... i need to brush up on my request ordering pictures

@ Aran- don't worry I hated people to as i came up, but i just worked at it and they helped me improve by motivating me

@ High Mage Vivi- I wish I could sprite like you, lol... you can do something that I very well can't...

But um... yeah... so that picture of Roxas looks good while it's in pencil... cause i'm going to finish the Oblivion Keyblade soon and finish up with the inking shortly after that...

Looks like i got a little sprite happy... so i decided to get em, save em', post em', and see how people like em'... I've done several poses and a walking pose to see how the character templates would look in action (since i need the experience)

Without Further ado... The TEMPLATE in ACTION...

Template-Walk.gif

The template walking

Template-Crouch-Front.gif

The crouching (front) sprite...

Template-Crouch-Back.gif

The crouching (back) sprite... (and i added a little animation to it to make it seem fluid... just more practice...)

Template-No.gif

The Template saying NO...

Template-Yes.gif

The template agreeing with something...

Template-Shake-Fist.gif

The Template Shaking it's fist...

I apologize for disturbing the forum with horrible pixels... but i had a boost of self confidence that hit me and told me to do these pixels... Please critique, i need to get better and i know these Sprites have flaws (Especially on the Shaking Fist and the Crouching Front...heh)...

this is work for Samurai Ragnarok... by the by...

Thanx man..could ya do me some art for my game?

The walk and nods are good. Altho the shoulders in the sideview walk could stand to move front to back - like you've got them doing in the front and back views.

Kneeling: I'm not sure why in the front view you've got the feet spreading apart.
Its always a good idea to act stuff out, as well as sketch it, before trying to animate it in sprite form. When I act it out, my front foot stays put and the backone slides further back, and its a natural reaction to put my arm on my knee.

In the back view, you've got his leg getting wider as it gets shorter, giving him the appearance of not having any bones. Instead you'll want to use curves to denote foreshortening (again, sketch it out before spriting it)
And the ears on the back view have overlapping action (delay) that we don't normally see on human heads - in that the ears stay put for a frame, and then drop by two pixels. for the last frame.

Shaking Fist:
I'm not sure why you have him shift weight.... it feels a bit awkward. If you want to go for more intense anger, try spreading both feet out and keeping the weight centered. Again, you'll want to use curves and shading to show forshortening.

Overall they're good and they match your drawing style very well. ^__^

Darksydayz, yer excellent at both art and spriting. You shouldn't say things like your pixelation sucks, cuz they're actually really good ^^

I think i misplaced ROXAS... :(

I've been working on several things at the moment, and i hath done a small comic for my school paper. When it gets formatted and put down then i'll save it and put it up here for the world to see...

But i created this little gem for my friend... it's unfinished...

I really like your art style, Kind of reminds me of mine :$

Although Mine is no way as good ;)

On the crouching, maybe try the front foot sliding forward, and the one in the back sliding backwards? You have them getting bigger/smaller, maybe try them sliding will make it looks better?

As Tana said previously, this version of the template should not be shifting his weight to the right. Always attempt to capture realistic human movements when dealing with a 'people' template. There can be differences, however try to stick with the norm so it won't confuse people.

So what I did of course, is draw him stationary.

The pushing animation should attempt to represent something along the lines of a forced walk. It may be fine as it is if the object he is pushing is fixed (like a wall, as you already said), but rather than limit yourself to only one version, you might as well throw in strained movement.

(I realise this is a very strange example, but please bear with me.)
Here is an animation I found on google of an old janitor pushing a cart. Now while this cart may not be forcefully pushed (as a wall or a rather heavy object would be), it is still in motion because the opposing force (the janitor), is acting upon it by walking.

http://img241.imageshack.us/img241/9641 ... whtno7.gif[/IMG] (Hehehe, look at the old guy go!)

( Animation taken from http://oregoncitygarbageco.com )

The same instance applies to the animation of the pushing template. However seeing that the medium is "heavier", it would require the person to use much more force to move the object (think along the lines of a rounded boulder). But the leg movements, nonetheless, would remain the same.

The crouching position is fine at the moment, with the except of a few things. Rather than increasing the front leg's width when he is bending his knee, keep it consistent by increasing width of the pixels just a little and only change the shading (the left part of his front leg could stand to lose about one row of pixels). This will give the impression that he didn't all of a sudden contract elephantitis.

Oh... and for anyone that doesn't know... i FOUND my ROXAS fanpic and hath Inked him... :)
