Can't say I'm kidding, I like both Slipknot and Killswitch Engage, besides, you didn't name any bad points about Killswitch Engage, you can't diss Howard Jones' voice, cause it's bloody awesome, and if you do, you need a good ol' slap with a wet fish, and the riffs are really cool and fun to play !

And the only thing I can say bad about Slipknot, is they have too many members, I mean Shaun (The clown) just stands there with a Baseball bat hitting a steel drum !...

I hated Killswitch's cover of Holy Diver, and that should be all the reason necessary. Holy Diver was an amazing song until Killswitch Engage raped it.
And I don't really like Howard Jone's voice, it's too "I try too hard to be metal".

But he doesn't try to be metal, cause his voice sounds more opera or soul than anything, but his screams are spot on.

And I actually prefer their cover of Holy Diver, I thought the original by Dio, well, the entire sound sounded too high pitched. Besides, you shouldn't rate someone over a cover song, cause that's not their material, you should listen to something original to really give 'em some C&C.

By the way, does anyone else here shred on the guitar? Like shred no country or any of that.

The fastest I ever did without screwing up is 2npb at 160bpm. I am not entirely ready for very fast shredding, but I can go pretty fast. I am going to buy some DVD lessons here pretty quick, because I think there is a problem with my technique. Any good suggestions?

Proof of newer metal sucking:

Dragonforce - They suck click through a straw(which is impossible, unless you have a really big straw). Herman Li can't even play ttfaf up to speed.

Slipknot: Oh, let's scream our heads off and play the same riff over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over until our listeners go insane! That'll make us popular!

Killswitch engage DOES suck. And yes, most of slipknots songs play the same riff over and over, but some of their songs don't. and dragonforce, they suck live, but through fire and flames was pretty fun on guitar hero. :haha:

How they got famous is a riddle IMO . Dragonforce and Slipknot are easely some of the worst bands I've heared and Killswitch engage .. well I heared 1 song , didn't liked it and never listened again .

I think its funny how you like bands like Underoath but you don't like Metallica. Then again, I suppose someone could like me and not like my father. Underoath is a bit too whiny for me.

Edit: Just listened to "I died." Pretty decent. especially the vocals. The drummer needs to get on the ball though. And the guitarist isn't as amazing as you said he was. He needs to work on his finger strength. Also, the vocalist really shouldn't go low like that. He should find a vocal instructor. Melissa Cross is my favorite. She is one instructor that doesn't go against screaming/growling and can teach ways of screaming/growling without damaging/hurting you vocal chords. Lots of potential to work with though.

Yes, because someone's inability to produce music at this level of quality means they cannot criticise anyone that can. In fact, this also means that you cannot compliment music unless you would be able to reproduce it yourself.
