you'd let your kids go to school with Gary Suraci?

A civics lesson:
What the Bible says (and what you find icky) really doesn't matter when crafting laws or hiring principals. Since the 1st amendment prohibits laws "respecting an establishment of religion," one cannot legitimately base a case for a governmental decision on the Bible, the Qu'ran, or the Kama Sutra (though that might lead to some interesting laws).

And basing decisions on what you find icky is kind of silly. I believe that hunting is despicable, does that mean I should keep my kids from attending a school run by a hunter (assuming he isn't propagandizing on behalf of the NRA)? Besides, how about if you take into account the opinions of the 20 percent of us who either follow no religion at all or one that's not run by homophobes? Or the majority of the population that doesn't give a flying fuck about homosexuality one way or the other?
Hallelujah! Amen!

It's sad how many times a day someone needs to remind someone of that ':|

If you look at the KKK site, they offer printable PDFs to say that if you die, your kids will not be cared for by Homosexuals or Black people. The KKK are f*cked up, and I wouldn't be surprised if a few people here agreed with their views, I just cant stand people who hate people who can't help what they are or think, they are narrowminded sh*ts...

This may be necropost, bu, meh
There are three things I would like to point out:

1. I don't remember who asked this, but someone asked "Where in the Bible does it say that being gay is a sin?" I think it was on one of the slabs Moses dropped (History of the World. If you haven't seen it, you should, it's so lol)

2. A little more serious, someone else said"You shouldn't hate someone because of their beliefs." Well, the only reason you can hate someone is because of their beliefs. O_o That may seem shocking to some of you, but it's true! Unless someone can tell me another reason to hate someone...(and don't pull that "hate because of actions" crap on me... they believe that their actions are correct, or justified, or whatever, so it's the same thing...:p)

3. Someone else said(i really should start writing names down): "Anyone under 18 is stupid." Wow. I happen to be 15, (you don't seem to be the brightest person, so I'll point out that that is under 18...) and I think that kids are usually a lot smarter than their parents. Think about how many 10 year old kill each other or rape people or lie and cheat.(well, they do lie and cheat, but its their parents fault! :p) The point is, the world would be a lot better if everyone had the values of a kindergatener!! The golden rule is the only rule you need!!!!
AND HOW DOES ANY OF THIS DISCUSSION OF GAY/BIBLE/SEX HAVE ANYTHING TO DO WITH SOME PRINCIPAL GUY/GIRL AND YOUR KIDS?

Actually, sorry no.
I don't hate anyone for beliefs and think that's a stupid comment. I hate people for their attitudes and actions - which may or may not be influenced or influence their belief system. Some people believe one thing, and act another because they're pricks.
Take me for example. I believe that violence is a solution to a problem... but that doesn't mean I preach it or even act on it. I may get into fights, but I'm trying to talk out of the fight or just leave. I believe that the death penalty can be justified - but that don't mean I'll pull the switch or call for it. I believe Genna Saruci has every right to do what she wants, and that doesn't mean I'll stand up for it or even question people saying they won't - but I will. See the difference there, it's called being human. No one every believes and does the same thing, and often we do things we don't believe in.

Besides. The bigots have the values of a kindergarten kid. Don't be different or you'll get laughed at.

I asked where it is in the bible. I found no answer and am still waiting. :thumb:
And an odd update, if you search for Gary Saruci or Genna Saruci this thread is the only google point to pop up O_o

K,
for your number 1: I don't hate anyone because of their beliefs. I disagree with a lot of them, but i don't hate them for them. I dislike people who are rude to me, obnoxiously loud. I hate like 99.9999% of the people i know, and it's nothing to do with beliefs. Mostly i hate people for being stupid, slow etc. That isn't a belief (No, i don't mean like unintelligent. I mean more when people act stupid or do stupid things). You think being black is a belief? Racists dislike other races. Your skin colour has nothing to do with your beliefs. Etc, etc.

2: (First of all, I agree that it's dumb to say under 18s are stupid. A lot of under 18's are indeed more knowledgeable than their parents.)
Look up stupid in the dictionary, I'm pretty sure the definition has nothing to do with having loose morals. (That means not having a problem with killing, lying etc). Just because you think kids are smarter than their parents doesn't mean that it's true. And the person was probably talking more about common sense than about knowledge etc, and nearly all younger people have fuck all common sense (at least compared to older people)

I asked where it is in the bible. I found no answer and am still waiting.

Do not lie with a man as one lies with a woman; that is detestable.
Leviticus 18:22

Of course it also says that you can't have sex with a woman while she's on her period (18:19), trim your beard (19:27) or have tatoos (19:28), among countless other rules that we simply ignore today. So yeah--it's THERE and anyone who says otherwise just isn't doing their research, but just because it is present doesn't mean that it really holds all any weight.

(First of all, I agree that it's dumb to say under 18s are stupid. A lot of under 18's are indeed more knowledgeable than their parents.)

I'm also going to have to SERIOUSLY DISAGREE with this but that is not for this topic.

Thats what you think. You'll never be as experienced as your parents, sorry. Not physically possible, given your age.

Elias and Solid bro, I don't think kids are smarter than their parents, just that a lot of them are more knowledgable on various matters. Later in that post I said
Just because you think kids are smarter than their parents doesn't mean that it's true.
so i agree with you, you sorta misunderstood or something...

@ Red Dawn: The only things I can think of that a kid'd be more knowledgeable about than their parents are:
- Fashion
- (Maybe) Technology
- Trends
- (Maybe) some Textbook facts (since a schoolkid'd have more in their short-term memory than an adult long out of school)
- Jargon (wait, that's a trend ... so is fashion)

You wake up one morning in your adulthood and you realize how stupid you were as a kid, but as a kid/teen, you'll never admit it until you get to that point. Fact of life.

On topic, not @ Red Dawn: It doesn't matter what your religious affiliations are about homosexuality. What if your religion isn't theirs? Why push your beliefs on people you don't know and will probably never meet? Why is it so important to shove your opinions down everyones' throats?

Isn't Heaven better less crowded, anyway? (har har)

Well for me it'd be
Maths (My mum can't do fractions, powers, all she can do is basic +-*/, she can't with big numbers)
Science (She's clueless)
Anything powered by electricity (Can't work things out as she goes along, has to read manual etc, plus she's a technophobe.)
Um I would say possibly for general knowledge but I don't know for sure. I know a lot of random crap, but so does she, so.

I don't know a damn thing about fashion, except that i like black or dark blue t-shirts, dark jeans, and black jackets. Dunno about popular crap or whatever. My mum does.

I don't know any trends. There aren't really any, except for like little kids with trading cards or those hardcore spinning tops... Blade somethings... Anyway, my mum probably does. But I dunno.

So there. For me it's like the opposite of what you said. I am smarter through better logical problem solving and knowledge of major matters. (Hard to understand, I know, I'm in a rush!)

God stop arguing this as a main part of your post. Your parents are much more experienced, ethically responsible, and pretty much just more successful than you, by sheer definition (less your parents are crack addict burnouts, then you win!). You may be more able than them in strict academics, but that's because you are constantly learning and relearning this shit, they haven't had to deal with it for probably 20 years, so they know the necessary basics that they use from day to day like the back of their hand, and phase out the unimportant stuff. Not to mention, even saying 'I am smarter than my parents' is disrespectful to the people that have given you everything.

Anyways, more on topic... Wait how could I even be on topic? Godamnit, why do I have to say my piece and then tell people to get back on topic? Here: say your piece, but at least say something about the topic in your post.

Genna Suraci is a cool person, and I'm sure that she is doing just as fabulous a job as he had done before. Because your integrity and intelligence are not completely dependent on your particular moral value set, much as some particularly opinionated people would believe. And also pay attention to Solid_Bro's post, he makes a good point about the bible's take on homosexuality. Much as you might say trimming your beard is a far cry from gay sex, is it really, or are you just speaking out of your ingrained morals that circular logic'd their way out of that bible quote?

Unfortunately, even when backed up with your own evidence, arguing with someone who relies on bible quotes won't work. I tried it once, and the reply I got was "those were all from Moses' time, Jesus came to relieve them from those rules and to bring his own."

It's kinda sad that now this woman will have trouble with both girls and boys. If you've ever been to school :)p) you know what it's like, when there's a slight rumour of something that almost certainly didn't happen about a male teacher and a female student, everyone's weary of him. No doubt the same will happen here, but since she used to be a he, it'll be the girls and the boys against her, if you understand what I mean (which you probably don't because I tend to ramble a lot and forget what I was even saying in the first place).

I've never honestly had ever heard in all my 20ish years of education hear rumors about teachers and students to any length outside of "Mr. Bowings has a crush on Susy", when all Mr. Bowings did was give Susy's B+ paper an A-.
Usually it's quite the reverse.

And besides. "Slight rumor". That's not even a rumor yet. It's barely just gossip. Though, yeah I guess it could happen. I really don't see how since there is no word even on if Gary Saruci was gay before the sex change. Remember, not all sex changes are done by people attracted to the same sex.
