I dislike the whole black/white thing. Personally, I think they should just slap the subject out of the world. To give you an example...
Here in Brazil, the president wants to give rights to the black on the country. What happened? The white got "deleted" from the society. Blacks get free stuff (such as university), and whites work hard to get there.
I think everything should be like, "Who comes first wins.", not "Who is excluded from the society comes first, and leave the others out until they are excluded and we get to rescue them".
So, again... no such race should have previleges, no matter if Indian, White, Black, or whatever.
(P.S. Brazil isn't all black, only 4x% is, just before you say anything.)

Oh for fucks sakes, life is rarely affected by race nowadays. Is a class issue. Are there more minorities in lower classes? Undoubtedly, but that is not the White Man putting you down for being black.

These debates are always bullshit put forward by people from both sides who cannot be bothered to actually work, instead blaming it on the Blacks or the Whites.

Someone give this man a medal he's just confirmed what I said all along.

Either way, I think the very main problem in this debate is that fact that everone seems to generalize everything down to half of the american citizens "against" the other half of the american citizens. STOP IT. It's wrong, it's not debating, it makes no sense and it pulls everything out of proportion.

I disagree with holloway in every way, still it's a good point (except for the last line which is so true and I agree on). Life is affected by race bigtime, but not the way everyone seems to put it. I think that there are situations in which white people are having the advantage, but equally as much situations in which it is all the other way around.
Just let alone the fact that there were internet-polls during those america pre-election things where you could vote whether you would agree with a president being black, a jew, a white man, a nazi, a black man or a woman (can select multiple options) shows us that PEOPLE CARE. They still do. I think everones a little bit racist, but peopel have to stop, especially those who aren't white, that black people are having less changes because they are black. It's not true.

- The áctual reason that black people seem to go less educated and less wealthy into their lives is just because they do.

Now THAT IS something that happened before yesterday. However nowadays, black people seem to (view those SAT scores) increase there avarage intelligence (please don't debate on what is intelligence) and reaching out for the scores white people got ten years ago due to the fact that they did have enough money and ten years ago you still couldn't get a cab if you were black.

But unlike the great groupes of poor black people, it are in fact the rich white people who are in the minority. Not because they are white, but because history and family made them rich, contra the black people who didn't: in the past (because they where black, but also because - please don't look at the U.S.A. - they didn't need it the way white people did - just trust me on that one - again don't look at the U.S.A.)

The world is changing, people are, on one hand more accepting, on the other hand more pushing away. We can get ourselves everything we want - with certain limits - you just need to stop saying: Is it cuz i'm black? (black) or Don't you think it is  certain that I am niggah enough to be your employee (white) / I will get it, no wait my daddy will (white). Just consider yourself purple and do something with what you've got inside, not what you have on the outside.

Actually here is how it is:  Black, white, asian, mexican, what the hell ever....if you work hard enough you can achieve  anything.  People of minority need to stop bitching, and people in majority need to stop bitching too.  If you don't get a job, too bad.  Go apply somewhere else and keep trying, if you're tenacious enough about it you WILL eventually get a job.  Keep that job and save up money and who CARES how long it takes.  Go to college and get a degree in whatever you want and then continue on with your life.  If you do that, who cares what else is going on, you have achieved your goal!  I know, because that is what I'm doing right now!

Maybe there is "white privilege", maybe there isn't. What I do know is, in  today's society, a white person and any other minority of the same social status have the same opportunities in life and have an equal chance of success or failing. This isn't 1930. Minorities have a stronger chance of getting jobs, especially within the government. Minorities have things such as scholarships because they are minorities. But the fact is, a poor white person has it just as hard as a poor black person. If there is any difference, blame the culture created by different racial groups themselves.

People of all races need to stop complaining. Whites and blacks have equal chances in nearly every area in life. To say otherwise or play the "race card" is just laziness based on delusion.

I don't want to try and be the mediator, but it seems like this is pretty much the overall message: White privilege might or might not exist. And if it does it is balanced by the other race's privileges. (Therefore what you see as white privilege could easily be seen as another racial privilege) This is pretty much a one sided argument, although there are a selected few who believe there to be some sort of privilege for a certain race. However, this seems to be more aggravating than helpful to debate about. -_- Now, I'm starting to get a headache from this thread. :/

Well I'm white and pretty much all I got from being white is my fucking blue eyes and absolutely nothing else. To tell you the truth in my country black people get some sort of advantage in colleges, cuz everyone is worried to be called racist and then black people get privileges in colleges just becuz of that. I didn't get any of these privileges so you can pretty much suck up on that one.
