Which is the best Final Fantasy Game?

I don't think the story of FFVII and FFVIII is hard to understand.

Another thing I see, why does everyone "hate" FFVII? I can understand that people think it's overrated, but it seems people who don't like it, didn't really understand the story or didn't play it at all.

It's not that Raz, I just never liked FF7 very much. It was fun the firxt half of the game, but then it started to bore me. Plus, Cloud's one HUGE spike of hair pissed me off. I mean....it defies motherfreakin gravity, man!

Yes, I understand that. I never said everyone who didn't like FFVII is an idiot, what I mean was, everyone who didn't like FFVII so far didn't hae a good reason so far. "I don't like FFVII because Cloud and Sephiroth were gay" some reasons like that aren't a reason in my opinion. By the way, the topic of this thread is, what is the best Final Fantasy game and not which is the worst. ;)

My hierarchy.

X > VI > VII > IV > VIII > V > II > I

I have not yet played III or IX, I don't care about XI, and I certainly want nothing to do with X-2. Tactics was also great, but so, so incredibly frustrating. Tactics Advance was fun for a while (after the boring intro), but when I got the original Final Fantasy Tactics on PlayStation, I realized that Tactics Advance really wasn't worth it. XII was sounding good, but when XIII and Versus XIII were revealed at E3, I stopped caring about XII, so when it comes out, I think I'll wait a little while. :P

There's nothing wrong with X-2. -_-;; I rather liked it. But it wasn't my favorite. 6 is my favorite just cause I really liked the many character's storylines (and Celes' opera was really cool). I also enjoyed 7, mainly because that was the first one I actually played (I only watched my dad play 6). 7 may be overrated, but that still doesn't stop me from liking it. In order, they would go like this:
VI, VII, X, X-2, IX, VIII, V
(I REALLY hated V after a while...)

FF9 and FFT were amazing. FF4, FF6 and FF7 I enjoyed quite a bit as well. 5 and 8 were pretty decent. Oh, and the original game just had plenty of charm.

...Wow, Raziel, you and I seem to like Raziel.

Final Fantasy 4 and 6 are my favorites. I like 7, but it's so overrated that even turning my PS2 on with the thought of the game in my head brings forth the image of a tidal wave of fangirls screaming about Sepiroth or something. It's a game I play in the dark by myself and don't tell anybody about later. Poor FF7 hasn't aged well, though...
I like 9's style so far... its up there with my favorites, as well as FF3. I hated all the other ones, however... (Ok, So 5 wasn't completely horrible, but still...)

I personally am looking forward to playing the FF3 remake in 3D before I make any true judgements about the game because it's not quite the same if it's a fan-translation. Plus I wanna see if the 3D edition will upgrade the game some more.

As it stands:

1. VII
2. IV
3. IX (joint)
3. XI (joint)
4. VIII
5. X
6. Tactics
7. VI
8. I (joint)
8. Crystal Chronicles (joint)
9. III
10. V
11. II
12. Tactics Advance
13. Legends Series
14. Adventure
15. Mystic Quest
16. Piles of Shit attached to a controller
17. X-2

I'm still playing VIII, btw. I'm about to make it to Disc 2, but for some reason, I can't keep my attention on that game for more than 10 or so minutes. I'd rather play Shadow Hearts: Covenant.

well.. let's see.. Um.. in my own wierd way I like all the FF's the same... but let's see if I can at least give them an order...

1.FFX (for it's graphics and music I think outways the game play overall)
2.FFVIII (I love the storyline but the battles get soo boring that I fall asleep wake up 2 hours later and find oh I gained like 15 levels.. ok back to sleep.)
3.FFT (I'm a zodiac lover can't help it)
4.FFVII (you got to love cloud riding that motorcycle type vehicle. LOL)
5.FFIX (eh tied with X-2, storyline is better in my opinion.)
6.FFX-2 (only cause I believe it as a shorter game to work with. BUt I still love the graphics and music the same as FFX.)
7. FF originals (I&II together, the graphics and game play is highly borring but I like the idea of unlocking the the stuff by gaining items and what not.)
8. FFXII (I'm only putting this here cause I only have the demo for it so until I know more it's staying here.)

Yeah I think that sums it up.

FF8's evil that way. It's hard to keep focused on that game. Always has been for me, and I got the game when it first came out. There are moments, however, where that doesn't happen -- mainly just with the fun optional stuff, like finding Odin, facing off against Bahamut... the generic FF stuff.

I thought the script was decent enough, but the gameplay, though somewhat amusing, was easily abusable. The character of Rinoa made me want to shoot myself and the general execution of the plot was incredibly hit-and-miss. Sometimes it was breathtaking, though sometimes... eh.

And the love story in that game was dreadful IMO.

I notice that everyone seems to hate the Junction system and the love story between Discs 2-4. Give me traditional leveling up any day. And I've seen better love stories in Mario games.

Damn straight on all counts.
