Which is the best Final Fantasy Game?

I thought Delita was the only villain to have actually won in any FF? But then I don't know at all if you've actually played FFT.

That's like, the best thing about Tactics; it's moral ambiguity. Delita was a protagonist (he never did directly OPPOSE Ramza) but he came into power like a true politician; deceipt, deception, assassination, charisma, and political intrigue. He came off as a badguy because he didn't have a virtuistic moral outlook on life, but he united an entire warring country and tricked you into defeating the ultimate evil being.

Although the focus of the game was on Ramza as he was the "forgotten" hero. I wish they explained the ending though (after the credits). There was this massive plot twist, and then it just ENDED. It almost felt as if they had 5 more minutes to show and then just completely cut it off right in the middle.

I think the idea though was that, like in the real world, nothing really changed. There'd be opression, uprisings, etc., just by different people and for different reasons. You cant truely conclude a story like that because its just a vicious cycle of taking power and losing power.

that actually makes sense. i was confused because in the end he just kinda asks himself "ramza... what do you have that i dont?" or something like that so i guess he just realized that he's not the visionary he thought he was, just another zit on the ass of the earth.

I CAN NOW SLEEP AT NIGHT

Basically Delita was a conquerer, not a ruler, in a world of conquerors who cant rule. Once he gets his rule, he just turns into the opressor he just finished conquering. He thought things would change with him as ruler, but they didnt and wont until someone altruistic like ramza takes power(which would never happen since people like Ramza dont have desire to rule, just a desire to survive and a desire for a peaceful life). So yeah, that's the cycle.
*I actually havent played the game in a while so I might be wrong a bit and just preaching in general terms*
People like ramza would just continue to rise up against the opressors, weakening them enough for another opressor to take their place. The right man never takes the thrown because the right man has no desire for power.

1. FFX: Unlike (as it seems) everyone else in the entire world, I was very fond of this game. I loved every character, especially Lulu, Yuna and Rikku. I didn't think the "laugh" scene was too annoying. A bit childish perhaps, but I thought it was nice to see them get along. The ending scene was very sad -- the perfect ending to the game. Loved the level up system too. The summoning system rocked. The Magus Sisters rocked. Yuna rocked. The world rocked. The storyline, the enemy, Sin, Bahamut AND that scene in which Yuna sends the spirits to the afterworld by standing on the water and dancing was very touching for me. The intro was amazing, Auron rocks, the theme rocks, entire game rocks.

2. FFX-2: Maybe I have this on the second place because I love the FFX world and characters, but the dress system and level up system is awesome. I have Yuna, Rikku and Paine on level 99 and 100% completion. I love Yuna's moogle dress! The game has two BIG downsides though: the silly music and "Buddy"'s STUPID behavior. I'm playing this game, and suddenly that retard jumps up and says another retarded line. Bah.

3. FFIX: A bit too cheerful for me. Chibi-characters... Meh. The game itself was great though. Vivi owns bigtime.

4. FFVII: I have this on the fourth place because I thought the storyline and characters were better than the other FFs that are remaining. Cloud and Tifa were pretty cool, and so was the Materia system, though it got a bit boring.

5. FFXI: I played the Japanese version, so I can't really rate this one yet, but I love the battle system sooo much. The only reason why this is on the fifth place really, as I had no clue what the characters were saying and Vaan looks pretty awkward.

6. FFVIII: Meh. Squall was "OK". I never played this game beyond the scene in which they crash their airship into the enemy's fortress. I got bored and never played it again.

Ryan in my opinion you hit the nail on the coffin. Easily said in the end he basically became what he intended to finish off. Again he was one of the only "villains" to win but more of a win-lose situation.

Maybe she means the Lunatic Pandora?

Kuja accomplished more than any villain (aside from Kefka) in FF history (out of the games I played mind you). He brainwashed a queen and caused countries to go to war and then once he was done with that, he killed her and focused on the Eidolons, capturing Bahamut on the scene.

Fast forward a bit, he finds out from Garland that he will die soon, so what does he do? He destroys Terra and spreads Mist throughout the World of Gaia, attempting to take the world out with him ("If I'm not allowed to live, why should the rest of the world be?" not an exact quote, but you get the picture). Looks aside, that is an awesome villain.

Oh and Kefka looked like a clown, just throwing that out there. :P

And I can tell from the post you can't be any older than 18 (EDIT: Nevermind, checked his age, I feel old now lol), as you don't really care for anything "old school". Anything before Final Fantasy VII is inferior, or in this case, any story not with the FFVII style is inferior.

And I hate when people refer to Kuja as a "homosexual". He hits on Garnet for crying out loud. Plus, dressing that way doesn't make him a homosexual. Crossdresser? Maybe. But not a homosexual.

Not sure, she told me she stopped playing when one of the character just got up and left the planet (a la Poochie). I find this funny because it's the same way I felt with FFIV, and she loves that game.

Most of what you said there is true, but not all of it, IMO. Some of the 2D FFs are way better than some of the 3D ones, it just depends on what games your comparing.

You are right on Kuja, he does accomplish the most in any FF game, aside from Kefka. He is a great villain. And I thought he looked great, well, in Trance anyway.

And about FFV, that’s the part where I got really bored and stopped playing. But, if you keep playing for something like, half an hour more, it becomes really interesting. And you actually get a party change!

In order of how much I enjoyed them(Japanese numbering):

Final Fantasy 6
Final Fantasy 4
Final Fantasy 5
Final Fantasy Tactics Advance
Final Fantasy Tactics
Final Fantasy 9
Final Fantasy 10
Final Fantasy 2(DoS remake)
Final Fantasy 1(DoS remake)
Final Fantasy 8
Final Fantasy 7
Final Fantasy X-2

Haven't played: Final Fantasy 3.

Tactics Advance was ok, I've never actually completed it though. I'm stuck on the last boss, and I haven't tried for about a year now. The story isn't all that great. It's very predictable anyway. I knew most of what was going to happen before it happened, which, kinda ruined it for me.

Hehe, I spoiled my own game.

Well I would have to say either Tactics or Tactics Advance. Tactics is actually better cause of the awesome battle system and the godly plot.

I lost my RPGing virginity to FF7, know one can forget there first ;)
FF Tactics on the playstation was pretty good as well.

Well it's easy to point out what's great about games, it's not so easy to point out what's horrible in them, maybe with a few exceptions but here's what I HATED about certain games:

I - Lack of speech from the characters was irritating!

II - The Whole Storyline of this game just was a load of BULL!

III - This was interesting but a little dull at times and lacked "magic" that other games had given.

IV - Whilst I loved this game in General for it's plot, one thing I HATED was that you didn't choose your party or did you get to keep anyone beyond Cecil, Rosa, Rydia, Edge and Kain. And I especially HATED the way everyone seemed to die then come back to life constantly! Except Tellah.

V - THE MUSIC DROVE ME TO THE BRINK OF SANITY!!!!!! That Rush theme at the start was enough to put me off the game for six whole months before I started playing again! GRRR!!!!

VI - It was alright, but the thing about games is they need to be multi-tonal in both characters, graphics, and storyline. This was none!

Characters - Lighthearted
Graphics - Dark and gloomy
Storyline - Okay... the main villain is a f*ckin clown!

VII - Overated, I don't actually think so. Bad points, yes it did have. It's graphics, whilst supposely amazing at the time, were actually shit for the time. They could have done so much better to improve those block hands and the stumpyness of the characters, as shown by games released only 6 months later or 8, released only 18 months later, granted graphics do improve over time but there were SNES games that had better graphics than this. Case and point, Donkey Kong Country!

VIII - Did not like the junction system, did not like the trigger system, did not like the junk shops, did not like the no armour, did not like alot of things about this game. However, I HATED the fact that all the characters mysteriously already knew each other, I HATED the fact that Edea wasn't actually the villain and the villain was some random biatch who you didn't meet until the very end who had the cheesiest name in the history of video games. Ultimecia, look at me, I'm so ULTIMATE, I'm grand... Sod off! And I HATED SQUALL! Get a F*CKING GRIP MAN! JUST MASTURBATE ALREADY!

IX - Okay there's actually few things I can dislike about this game because unlike 6, it was very multi-toned. However, I didn't like Zidane's god damned tail! Steiner bugged me at the start, whilst humourous, he was still very irritating. I didn't like the switch back to the style of small chubby-cute characters. But the one thing I HATED was Kuja's Batty-Boy Dress sense, I mean god damn man, what kind of male super-villain prances around in a f*cking purple THONG! Disgusting!

X - Hmmm... Maybe it is easier to say what I liked about X. I HATED SEYMOUR HE WAS SO QUEER! "Oh Yuna... I'm so Gay! Look at me, I talk like Boy George and Julian Clarey's bastard love child!" The Spehere Grid System created very Unbalanced characters unless you used the beginners grid or were pretty good at balancing out characters. TIDUS RAN IN SLOW MOTION! The Villain, whilst a nice twist that Jecht was Sin, it was revealed too early for starters and it was not even Jecht as the main villian, it was Yu-Yevon, so Meh, that was again bollocks! Infact it was worse than Ultemicia! The game was so easy I could play it standing on my head with my hands tied behind my back and my eyeballs gouged from their sockets and I'd still complete it in 12 hours! I'll say one thing I LOVED about it, THE ENDING! Besides being gut-wrentchingly emotional, it also meant my suffering of playing this f*cking abysmal game was now over!

X-2 - Three Sylables sum up this shitness of this game - YU-RI-PA! WHAT THE F***********************CK!!!!!!!!!!!! CHARLIES ANGELS!! GRER RAHAHHAKJSHDKAHSKDHAKSJDHA I HATED THIS GOD DAMN BOLLOCKS SHIT GAME!

XI - Great game once you get into it, but it's lack of real feel storyline and the fact that your character couldn't get involved in the grand-scheme of things too away that feeling of RPGs that "one man can make a difference". It also was really irritating at the start to level up so you could actually go places that were decent and had FF related enemies.

Tactics - This was actually great, I fine example of What 7's graphics could have been made like, albeit a different style, it showed that 3D graphics did not mean characters had to have BLOCK HANDS! The one thing I didn't like about Tactics was that it just was SO different to the other games, it didn't feel like I was playing a REAL Final Fantasy game. Granted there were alot of cameos and easter eggs, but there's alot in my game too, doesn't mean it's made by Square-Enix! Anyway, this difference in the game was caused by varying factors, one of which was it had too many characters which can be simply be because of it's style but I felt it really hampered the main element in storyline creating, Character Development.

Tactics Advance - Just simply did not interest me one bit, was really quite, well Ugh....

Mystic Quest - Shit, but probably better than X-2!

Legends Series - All pretty nice games, although, all pretty strange games and not very well known.

I loved VI. So many of the characters had such deep struggles and memories, and I loved how you had to go the extra mile to see the whole picture with many of them. Shadow especially was interesting to dissect.

I wish they'd built off Ultros a bit more though. He was annoying as hell, but for some reason I started to miss him near the end of the game.
