Which is the best Final Fantasy Game?

Petros, if you have a negative outlook on all the games, then you can sod off. This thread is about which is the best final fantasy game, not which sucks the least.

Also, its VERY EASY to point out what's wrong with something, petty. You seem to have serious homophobic and masterbatory issues, you might wanna deal. If you were playing ff8 thinking squall should take a sidebar to masterbait, you might be playing these games with the wrong expectations.

FFIX- I dunno why this one appealed to me as much as it did. This is the only Final Fantasy game that I revisited more than once ( I usually play a FF game once and that's it) I liked how it was just so darn unique and different... I liked the sotryline, characters (even if they were all midgets) and overall the gameplay. Fun in a bun if you ask me!

FFVII- Insert cliche "I love FF7" rant here... The first time around I didn't finish the game (my second disc froze if I remember correctly).. but about a year or two ago I rebought the game and played it again. Great storyline, a bit outdated and almost overated, FF7, however, still leaves me with that smile whenever I remember playing it.

FFX/FFX-2- To be completely honest on this one, I do understand why so many people had something against BOTH these titles. (There were times when Tidus' constant whining pissed me off) What I liked however, is that the story drives both games (more in X than X-2 tho'..). And call me a softie, but seeing the love kind of grow between Tidus and Yunawas touching. Even more so in the end of X-2.

FFV- I never finished the game because my friend took back her anthology disc.. from what I can barely remember of this game is that it was fun... 'nuff said.

I loved VI. So many of the characters had such deep struggles and memories, and I loved how you had to go the extra mile to see the whole picture with many of them. Shadow especially was interesting to dissect.

I wish they'd built off Ultros a bit more though. He was annoying as hell, but for some reason I started to miss him near the end of the game.

You could always visit him in the Collessium. ^_^

Well...for the Final Fantasies I've played (Japanese numbering):

FF1: good

FF2: crap. Battle system was very flawed. Everyone learning the same attacks? You could easily beat it only using attack and cure.

FF4: good

FF6: good

FF7: crap. Same exact flaw as FF2. characters and villians all the same as FF6 except watered down and replaced with angst. Honestly...it seems like this one is only popular because it was their first.

FF8: junction system....nuff said on this crap

FF9: good

FFX: when you have an arrow pointing you where to go and you can not backtract till the very end...you have forgotten what makes RPGs immersive: exploration

FFX2: I actually want the characters to take the situation seriously. I do not want, "they have our item and we must get it back....oh look a hot spring. Let's get in and talk about our breast size". And SE claims this game sets a positive outlook on women? Seems more like a perverted fan service to me.

Decent list of someone's opinions on the Final Fantasy games. I found this list a long time ago so it's likely many of you have already seen it lol.
I find that list to be terrible myself. FFVII as the worst FF ever because it's futuristic and over-rated? FFT (the original for psx) as the second worst FF spin-off ever? Onion Knight as the best male character ever created for a FF game? FFX-2 as the second most over-rated FF game? FFX-2 the game that most deserves a sequel? Shoud I take that list seriously? xD

Well, it does pretty well in saying my thoughts for the most part.
FF7 and 8 were the worst by far, simply because they weren't really fantasy. They were both horribly overrated simply because, being on the PS1, many new FF players played them first.

The order in which I played each game, and for how long, follows:
1. FF: MQ; I've finished it entirely many times
2. FF4; Got to Zeromus, found myself 20 levels too weak, never got around to finishing.
3. FF9; beat it. Twice. Played so much Tetra Master that I can tell you exactly how everything works, given enough time.
4. FF1; Beat it. Once. Don't particularly care to again, simply due to difficulty.
5. FF7; Briefly, long enough to realize that it sucks and it isn't a final fantasy game.
6. FF8; I think I saw the introduction cinematic before deciding to leave that one to my brother. Yuck.
7. FF10; Didn't play it much, too busy playing FF9 at the time.
8. Tactics; Actually goes somewhere else in there, but I can't remember where; Still playing, trying to get ridiculously overpowered characters, all maxed out on jobs. This will take a while, as you can imagine.

Fantasy: A creation of the imaginative faculty whether expressed or merely conceived. Imaginative fiction featuring strange settings and grotesque characters.

Yes they were fantasies. Just not to your liking which is what you should've said... Even though you admit to not even playing Final Fantasy 8 <_<.

I thought I'd be different Prexus, don't be a prat and get all defensive. I could just say the same as everyone, Good, Bad, Boring, Shit, e.t.c. But y'know I thought I'd say what wasn't good about them. I'm a huge FF Fan, otherwise I wouldn't have played them all. I love FF games. I said what I didn't like about them because to say what I did would be boring, the same as everyone else.

Sorry for the double post but having read this. I need to ask you in defence of Final Fantasy VII, how can you really say it's not a Final Fantasy game when you've barely played a Final Fantasy game.

edit button.

ff7 not a fantasy.. how awkward.

oh yeah, i always use materais and see chocobos and giant mosnters attacking a city.

Better yet, I had a car but in a medival setting and then switched to a present setting, it was a great day and so real.

I loved the crater I saw. Seph was there. He was trying to kill cloud by turning in to Jeneva or w/e. Yeah, it had a barrier at first but got knocked out by a lazer beam or w/e.

Not to mention the flying ships and yes the black materia.

What a great life i had.

Tactics-It was amazing the battle system was fun the job system was well done the battles were difficult which made it challlenging and fun and the story and charcters where well done. To bad square dumped that ivalice and made the hell that ivalice is now with bunny girls and loser charcters like marche and ritz and a crappy battle system where no one died........
6-it was good
9-Its fun and a diffrent take on FF

Final Fantasy: Was quite good. Good enough to bring Square back into the software market.
Final Fantasy II: I didn't play it much, because it was so alike FF1.
Final Fantasy III: I only played the fan translation rom. It never came out translated. Shame. One of the best Final Fantasy games.
Final Fantasy IV: Very good. First FF on the SNES.
Final Fantasy V: Only played the fan translation rom. Very good music. But the story line wasn't very flexible. Only had 4 characters. Best part was the job system.
Final Fantasy VI: Ahead of it's time (Apparently). Amazing vehicle system. Many characters, but I thought they had too many ideas for characters. The Yeti and Mog didn't really fit in aswell as Locke and the others.
Final Fantasy VII: I can't understand why some people hate this. Materia, Limit and battle system were amazing. The story line had an emotional effect over me. I had sympathy over Sephiroth.
Final Fantasy VIII: I didn't like it. The party following you around everywhere wasn't too great. The only good part (In my opinion) was the map detail.
Final Fantasy IX: Very good. Had amazing graphics. The first Final Fantasy game I've ever played. I can't wait for the pc version. Loved Vivi.
Final Fantasy X: I didn't play this, but my brother said it was quite good, especially teh battle system.
Final Fantasy X-2: My brother said it ruined X. He didn't speak of it after that.
Final Fantasy MQ: Final Fantasy for the 4 year old. I hear there's a Game Boy version as bad as the Snes.
Final Fantasy Tactics: I never played it, but it look awesome. Looked even better after you played Tactics Advance. Speaking of which:-
Final Fantasy Tactics Advance: Quite good. Good story line. A bit childish though. Nice FF GBA alternitive.

Edit: Whats with the VIII hating? Sure the whole "lol, same nursery" idea was irritating, but the gameplay was solid, a brillianty score, the graphics were jaw dropping and the rest of the plot was very good as it called on a huge amount of old theologies and political ideologies.

Of course, if you are usedto the typical FF fare, you may have missed a huge chunk of the story.

YES YES YES AND MOTHERF***IN HELLS YES! You, Myo, are awsome.

But yeah, basically what Myo said, but add in that Squall was paticularly...erm...loner-ish, and very cold, until he suddenly BURSTS with emotion towards the end.
