What is the best PSone RPG ever?

My favorite's always going to be Threads of Fate... GREAT replayability (beating it with both characters unlocked a secret ending, and beating it with both twice had another ending) and it was very original and impressive when it was released (about 6 years ago)... And the music rocked. :D

Bearing in mind that I don't think Europe get most of the lesser known rpg's, I'm saying:

1. FFIX - I just felt the game world int his one drew me in more than any other rpg, ever.

2. FFVII - Ok, don't think theres any need to discuss this one

3. Breath of Fire 3 - BOF4 was poorer, I hated Breath of Fire V, why they couldn't stick to what made it good I don't know.

4.Jade Cocoon - Don't get me wrong, the story and locations were crap, but the level of customisation in the monsters you could breed kept me occupied for ages. The PS2 incarnation was shocking in comparison, you couldn't even merge the visual identity of your creations which was clearly the main selling point of the first. Heres hoping for a full blown PS3 with all the PS1 elements plus a fullblown story to match.

Yes, Dragon Warrior VII is actually my favourite game of any console. I don't play video games as much as a lot of you, so me saying that I've put about 300 hours into it may not seem like much. But only Star Ocean 3 has given me 300 hours as well. FFVII lasted me 40 hours. I beat it and and sold it for 10 bucks. I was just glad to get rid of it.

Actually i think FF IX is by far the best...it has the greatest story, maybe music, graphics, best chocobo quests and gameplay, though the villain sucks.

Well...Castlevania: SotN is partially and RPG, and that was a freakin' great game. Other that that I would have to say Breath of Fire 3.

Other Greats would include: FFT, Persona 2: Eternal Punishment, BoF4, Valkyrie Profile, Tales of Eternia, Chrono Cross, DQ7, Suikoden, and Suikoden 2 (to make a top 10)...FF7-9 and Xenogears were all good games, don't get me wrong, but weren't good enough IMO to warrant a second playthrough.

FF9 wasn't worth a second playthrough?, you must be kidding. I loved that game so much, I started like new files to beat it over again and to get the things I didn't get in the previous games.

I'd say Final Fantasy Tactics had the largest impression on me, although I never completed it. There were others I liked... such as Xenogears, Legacy of Kain, and Final Fantasy IX. The last one was much better for the first two-thirds of the game, it kinda puttered out after that.

Out of all these, FFT is the only one I'd really put the effort in to start from scratch.
