What is so wrong with homosexuals? I mean really?

I just got harrassed a bit today because me and this girl were walking down the street holding hands and lookign at each other. Heck, even if it was two guys it should not be an issue (I am against public displays of affection hetero or homo). We were walking and these christians (I think witnessess) acost us and try to tell us that we are evil and sinning and to repent. I told them I was an atheist and to go away. That was not really the best thing to say but eventualy we got them to go away.

Honestly, I do not get what people have against us and why they have to shove it down our throats. Also, if you do not like homosexual realtionships, do not frigging have one.

What's wrong with homosexuals? Nothing.

Why do people think there is something wrong? Well...that's more complicated. Homosexuality doesn't fit in with traditional ideas like "Get married (to someone of the opposite sex), have kids." It also doesn't help that governments often use homosexuality as an issue to divide the populace and try and get people to support them.

The past two votes on gay marriage within the American congress have been in Summer 2006 and Summer 2004. Election years. If you believe that's a coincidence, I have a bridge to sell you in Alaska (and you may be able to get Congress to pay for it!). Playing off the homophobia in the Bible and other religious literature, governments can get people of faith so riled up that they ignore things like an incrasingly unpopular and costly war and an ever growing divide between the extremely rich and everyone else.

If someone has a moral objection to homosexuality, that is their right. However, nobody has ever convinced me that it does any real HARM. Certainly not the same kind of harm done by millions of kids living without health insurance or bombs dropped on civilian homes. People have this vague idea that homosexuality somehow hurts straight people...like if we accept it, all of a sudden there will be this random decline in heterosexuals until before you know it, we'll have bestiality and incest and god knows what else. It's all utter bullshit, but people buy it.

I'm sorry that happened to you, but keep your head up. This is the final frontier of civil rights, and if history is any indicator, things will get better.

Whatever thier viewpoint is on the subject, folks should have enough courtesy to not start a ruckus over something that isn't their business.

I personally have no issue whatsoever on homosexuality. I mean I regularly frequent a hair salon (or barber shop for the homophobes) where all its male employees are gay (one being a transsexual). Even the fact that one of them was trying to hit on me early on, I can still walk in and out of there pretty comfortably. The locals themselves don’t really mind at all as well. 5+ years in business, and they’re still going strong.

These conservative bigots are a dying breed. Either you weather out the storm, or find somewhere else more welcoming. Whatever you do, don’t think the world has it out for you.

Actually its not only because of "culture". Its "nature" too. Every living organism is suppose to pretty much reproduce but we have free will so, we can pretty much do w/e we want i guess.

Well, on one hand, I don't have anything against homosexuals. On the other, it's frickin' annoying if some gay guy comes towards you and [insert favourite (???) action here], you know what I mean? At this point, the tolerance ends and the fist comes into play :D (ah grose, not the way you're thinking *lol*)

But I certainly don't have anything against female homosexuals... though most of them are damn hot and it's a shame that they're lesbian... ^_^

Hoenstly, if a gay guy does anythign lewd, you respodn the same way you would if anyone does something lew and uncalled for.
A good friend of mine had the following to say, "If a gay guy ever hit on me, I would say thank you for the compliment, but I"m straight." his reasoning was that gay men are looking for pretty much the same thing women are.
However, I have seen a few gay men get pushy. I generaly disapprove of that. Though, I think men in general tend to be pushy when they should not.

I am totaly for the right to free speech. But when you harrass someone and hide behind free speech it tends to feel rather pointless. I also have nothing against christians. Its just against people who decide to acost you and say stuff like that.
At least it was not what happened in new bedford mass. This guy walks into a gay bar and asks "is this a gay bar?" upon hearing a yes he starts shooting.

Well, the topic in here isn't common sense or something, it's tolerance. People who tolerate homosexuals don't say things like you quoted and don't shoot around in gay bars. People who are write in here ^_^

I am friends with a couple, and they are the coolest people I have ever met in my life. They know how to have fun...and I would much rather hang out with them than my straight friends. Not to mention, they always have hot chicks hangin all over them. It's just a lifestyle, and nobody should look down upon a whole group of people because of what they are. If the "gay bashers" actually took the time to get to know some of the people they hate so damn much...they would see a genuinly nice person with the same moral values, if not higher than them.

1- For this you must understand something about Christians, if your wondering why Christians are against homosexuality. Let me ask you a question. If some one was being mugged, and you were in a position to help, would you? (I use this example because it is something you may never have had happened to you before)
Now, would you help? Of course. Why? Because it is the right thing to do. But why is it right? Because you agree with the idea of helping people? or because you belive it is the right thing to do, even though it may endanger or inconvenience you.
Christian believe homosexuality is wrong because in the bible it says: "Do not practice homosexuality; it is a detestable sin. (Leviticus 18:22)
If this wasn’t there, Christians wouldn't care about it, but it is, so they do. The believe this is the truth, so obviously they are going to be concerned about it. There is much more to be said, but it is a lot of theology (I am a sophomore biblical studies major) if you want to know it, we can correspond via PM's. So that, in a nutshell, is what is wrong with homosexuality. The Bible (which us Christians believe as TRUTH) says it is wrong, so we believe it must be wrong, because God said so.

2- Why must they cram it down your throat?
They don't. And actually they shouldn't. So why do they make a big deal about it? Because, you really are not going to like this, but Christians believe homosexuality is a sin, and all sin corrupts, if homosexuality continues to become more "accepted" then more people will be sinning and less likily to turn to God because Satan will have a greater hold on there lives.

So, that is it in a nutshell. Do I hate you? Absolutely not. Do I, as a Christian hate you? Absolutely not. Will I ever treat you different? Absolutely not.
Christianity is odd, because so many people are missing the truth of Christianity and are mislead due to poor teachering. (This is why I am studying to be a Pastor) And there are not enough true Christians who really get what Christianity is.
Christianity is about love; but, as you have experienced sadly, a lot of people miss this point and get "self righteous"
Again, I would love to PM with you and explain things a little better. I know what I have written may seem ridiculous, and you may think I am a nut job. Think what you will, but the door is opened to you and any one else who wishes to truly understand, rather than know a little bit and make, what everyone hates, a prejudgment on something they don’t understand fully. Which is what you seem to have gone thru ^^

Is anything wrong with the people themselves? No. Should there lifestyle keep others from being there friend, no. Should they be shunned? No. But is homosexuality an OK thing? No.

Amen, AceJP I couldn't have said it better. I for one would like to apologise for any christians that would harass you. Being one I would like to say, condeming others is not what christianity is about. I try to be nice to anyone I meet. Do I wish that homosexuality was not a happenstance in this era? Yes. But once again I like people for who they are. Yes, I belive homosexuality is wrong but I'm not saying God hates all of you. In fact wether you belive it or not, Got Loves you no matter what you do. So in closing, I think homosexuality is wrong. But I don't think anyone should shove it down your throat. If your willing to listen, then I'm willing to tell. If not, thats fine too.

P.S. It really saddens me to know that so many people asociate christians with being an A-hole. It shouldn't be that way...

I've kind of been brought up in an environment with a good attitude to homjosexuality, as my uncles gay. I don't see anything wrong with it whatsoever.

And that's were your interpretation of the Bible is fundementaly wrong. Just because Some people choose to be gay doesn't mean everyone else is going to follow.

It's pretty obvious that if one day we all woke up and everyone in the entire world, that's all 6.1 billion of us, decided to be gay, then there would be a bit of a problem, but if anything more gay people would be a good thing for are vastly over populated world. :P

People don't choose to be gay, they choose not to live miserable lives of sexual represion and denial that they might feel is imposed upon them. Sure, if you're gay, you could always grit your teeth, marry, have kids, be unhappy. Many people have made that choice, down the years, but it's unreasonable to expect people to make it. You can't choose not to be gay. You can choose not to have sex with women, but it won't make you happy.
