It's novel. Actually, it's like a mystery/adventure/light novel but with actual gameplay.
Issue is that I don't get that much fun from it. It's fun, but... meh. I'm impressed, but I'm not interested.
Risk of Rain.
SO HARD.
Incredible adventures of vanhelsing. Again.
I like the genre. I tried hardest mode and I'm like nah. I do melee, and hardest difficulty + melee ain't fun.
Winter voice.
God damn, if only you moved faster this would be much more fun. Not bad as it is. Very provoking. Thoughtful.

Evoland. Fun until you realize it sucks. Nostalgia trip wears off, yo.
Recettear - item shop. BLARGH. It's fun. Strawberry would prolly like it a lot, actually. But... idk. I grow tedious of its mechanics. Isn't my favorite battle system (not much is besides RPGs and loot-based arpgs tbh)

Finally finished Ar tonelico 2. Playtime 52 hours. The last 20 hours I just button smashed my way through conversations. Rolling my eyes during unnecessary flashbacks. Dialog was terrible and repetitive. "I love you because...blah blah blah...and that's why I love you". The game itself is plagued with bugs and inconsistencies. The 3D environments don't move at the same angles as the sprites which are 8-directional; Idk what they were thinking.
It's a ps2 game, but you need an HD set up to even read the battle display and menu items. They didn't bother adjusting the menu tabs for english text, hell they could have used icons to replace kanji. But instead they broke up words into 2 lines like

It's not just the localization issues, the game just couldn't find a balance between battles, crafting, story progression, and the character visual novel parts. The sad thing is I spend hours crafting, but I wasn't spending it hunting and gathering or puzzling over item management like in other games. It was just walking in and out of areas to trigger the scenes to get the crafting recipes and then button smashing through the resulting text where they have to name their creations. All the consumable items are jokes anyways, but it's sorta required to get the talk topics needed to advance the side stories. I feel like there could have been a more elegant to go about all that.
