I've never played Spelunky before... D:

It's most definitely worth a try, seeing how it's free on PC (and probably a dollar or two on XBLA). I'm hopelessly addicted to it.

@Ven

Are you going with two handed or dual wielding? I've tried both and p much hated the latter. Even on my sneaky builds I preferred to run one dagger so I kept blocking potential. Or I ran with a spell in one hand.

jbrist i think if they make a 3rd it might be a multiplayer one where you get to make your own superheroe and pick your powers... would work if they go with the evil ending and also sucker punch is looking for people to make a action multiplayer game for ps3 so i hope

I just created the most crowded and least sustainable settlement on Stronghold ever.

Literally had to buy and sell resources every thirty seconds or so for my spoiled peasants didn't hate me >=|

was still fun.

Two-handed swords. Or possibly use the daedric artifact two-handed hammer, when I get it (just b/c im not hugely a fan of the daedric 2-handed sword--I don't want to kill my bros for it D:).

I don't like duel-wielding either. I like the DYNAMIC of it, but I can't seem to conceptualize the r-click as anything other than to block. When I have something different in either hand, I have to keep reminding myself that I can r-click too ;x

After starting up my ps3 again (thing has been collecting dust the past couple of months) I started with Enslaved (game prices seem to have dropped drastically in my gameshop).

Currently somewhere near the end of chapter 2 (I think it's near the end at least). And holy fuck except for the ultra shitty "can't fail" platforming this game is kinda cool. Love how you "kinda" play like a team.

Yeah, Enslaved is such a great fucking game, it's a shame a lot of people didn't notice that since it flopped quite hard... more people should have bought it! D: It's one of my favourite games of this gen, and I don't even regret buying it full price £40 for it to drop down to half price a week later (A week after release, I got it day one, lol), you're in for a real treat when it comes to visuals later on... there's some epic as fuck scenery and some pretty nice set pieces

Anyways, I'm playing Metal Gear Solid 2 HD on the HD Collection, the controls are so awkward, I can't believe I never noticed this when I played it the first few times on PS2... probably because I didn't even care back then, but god damn the controls guys...

Dungeon Defenders, a fair amount. That game is such a skinner box but what can you do.

Dead Pixels. Amazing little game that shortly after I start playing I begin to arguing with myself about just how much sleep I can afford to miss, so I can play more.

Also like other have said. Spelunky is the shit². Derek Yu seems like really nice and smart guy. great interview done by design3 with him here

Playing Wild Arms 3 on PS2 emu, looks like fun, I don't know why I got pwned too much in the desert, when I'm suppose to find something there to avoid being killed by tough enemies, in Gallow's chapter.

Gave Cities XL 2012 a try, since it's only $10 this weekend.

It's interesting; definitely a solid city-building engine, and there are a lot of good ideas here, but it really suffers from a few key points ...

1.) The interface is laughable. The fonts at use (in the Steam version, anyway) are obviously not what the designers intended ... Cut-offs and strange placements of text are all over the place. It's mostly legible, but only mostly ... Which is not a good thing.

2.) No "story" or "campaign" mode ... Everything is Free-Build/Sandbox. Which is good for some people, especially those who are fond of the older SimCity games. But I'm only interested if there's some extra "guiding" thing that gives me a sense of progression. Things happening that I don't expect, or completing mission requirements ... I crave that sort of thing in a city-sim, and this game doesn't have it.

3.) EXTREME micro-management, without advisors. Even though there's a simple tutorial, the learning curve is steep. It takes a while to figure out why things aren't going well for some businesses or houses, or why people are frustrated or not moving to your city. The potential is huge once you figure it out, but sometimes you THINK you know what you're doing and then it ends up bankrupting you (why are a few, simple bus lines more expensive than what ALL of my industry, manufacturing, offices, and farms earn, combined??)

4.) No undo button. Oops, I accidentally zoned an expensive hospital that drained 1/2 my early bank account. Let me demolish it. --What? It costs money to demolish it, before it's even fully built, AND I don't get my money back?? Holy shit D:

5.) Takes a -LONG- time to get your treasury going. You start with $200,000-500,000 on each map. Sounds massive. But everything is expensive, so before you know it, you're down to $90,000. Then people start flipping out that they want Executive housing. So you add it, but the Executives want Leisure buildings. Boom, down to $30,000.
But no worries -- You'll make your money back with all these happy folks, right?
Oh, wait, you're only making $7k every ~3minutes. Which is barely enough to build a medium-length avenue. Which means you'll have to sit there and wait for over an hour before you can make any further large expansions D:

I mean it's a cute game, probably worth $10, but it's a real shame they didn't put more effort into balance and UI after making such a nice engine.

I've read that this iteration of Cities XL came with modding tools, so maybe the company is expecting fan modders to fix all that for you.

That outcome is sadly becoming more common with games these days.

Well the modders have actually done some interesting things with it, but nothing involving fixes for the things I mentioned. Like they can add building types and modify economy things ... Oh well. Atleast I didn't sink much money into it.

Just finished Metal Gear Solid 2 on the HD Collection, it's my third time finishing it now, gonna' move on to Metal Gear Solid 3 tomorrow I think and spend my days off playing through it.

Right now though I've flicked over to my 3DS and I'm playing Tales of the Abyss finally... I'm actually disappointed, this game is boring so far, only 3 hours in though, but damn it's so boring, when does it get better?!

Think I might just jump onto my Vita and play Gravity Rush instead...

Have you grown up yet, Jay-Jay? It sucks hard at the beginning, but gets better when the characters age like 7 years. ^^;

Or are you talking about Tales of the Abyss (since ToG isn't on 3DS)?

Jason

Awesome Bro

Yes, yes I am, fuck knows how I got the name mixed up, gonna' edit that :haha:

There we go, Tales of the Abyss lol... although I wish I had Tales of Graces F since I'm getting the day one limited edition by preordering it :D

But yeah, this game sucks big black balls and man wang at the same time right now... it's SOOOOO boring D:

LOL.

I personally think Tales of the Abyss is the weakest Tales of game in the series. I didn't really like anyone in there except for Jade and Guy.

I think it starts off uber slow because you only get Tear and stupid Luke for awhile (who I hate).

;_;

Jason

Awesome Bro

Yeah, Luke and Tear are really annoying characters...

I've turned it off now anyway, maybe I'll try again some time in the future... or not.

oh how wrong you are by this. Tales of the abyss is like one of the best in the series! only one is better and that was graces f. plus for tales of the abyss the 3ds version kinda sucks... idk why just doesnt seem to fit the handheld right :x and tear and luke are awesome!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! way better then llyoed(worst main character in tales history) and collette(worst female in tales history)

Please, do not do this to me.

I said personally, which means it is my opinion.

I don't want to start anything.

Anyways.

The Tales of series are much better to me if you're playing with a friend. Star and I play them all the time. We haven't beaten Tales of Graces F yet, because we don't want it to end. ;_;

Jason

Awesome Bro

Well either way, I'm agreeing with Strawberry here, Tales of the Abyss is so terrible at the moment that I've put it on indefinite hiatus because it was just SOOOOOOO boring...
