septimus that sounds dope as hell, like some sort of 70s one-track or whatnot. Only deal id have with it is the track samples, as the point of this thread is to use whats alotted and make the best of it.

The beam synth sounded cool though, and i like the flow of it alot. Just make sure to look over the specifics before starting your track next time! d

im just curious about the amount of loops and loop samples in the thread though.
I'm assuming the drumbeat is a loop, and the guitar sound.. also the vocals are
obviously a loop, and the synth is a .wav sound, self-edited in the piano roll?
(correct me if im wrong here.)

so thats not a bad thing.
(ps if you made the percussion yourself using various sounds, i'd forgive you the use of the guitar loop)

basically laid-back breakbeat electro, with bonus points for vocals :3
you could look on the internet for vocals, royalty free
if you're not interested in vocals, which are a real challenge, i suggest just some other electro
this could also be really laid back, like air for example
but also really raw and core-y, like for example shameboy and, in a lesser form, daft punk
instruments NOT TO INCLUDE:
- piano
- strings
- choirs

if you're unfamiliar with techno and electro, try googling oscillator and arpeggiator :3

The theme will not end until two weeks after the start of the new year, so i'll be expecting some good stuff from all of you!!

Dance with Me (Septimus Remix) by Adrian McCauley

As previously stated i went for a more simplistic sound using basic drums and instruments and limiting myself to several powerful base filters to create a 70's funk/groove sound. I know this was supposed to NOT have a piano... but the song needed something soft and a rhodes piano was the only sound I could find that suited this purpose.

I filtered the Rhodes piano through the Love Filter plugin for that gated warbling/flanging effect and basically looped a series of minor chords, with a variant inflection towards the end of the riff.

Loops used are (apart from vocals) the Slap Bass Guitar, and another guitar riff I edited (from a different source and unrelated to each other). I restructured the percussion and removed the loop (it was a template) and sequenced a new loop with jazz percussion instruments.

I layered a sweeping pad sound effect because the sound moved in a lithe and seductive manner, like clothes falling to the carpet, or sheets been pulled back, or lovers embracing. I added a new guitar sound effect for that 70's porn 'wah-wah-wah" sound, flanged it for a chorus effect and added delay and reverb, and I used this to accompany, off-bar, the 'wah-wah' effect.

I am quite proud of this song. I have never made any music like this before. I don't normally dabble in chill-house and as a rule, stay clear of groove or funk. Move over Jamaroquai - Septimus is in the house!

of course it would've been more awesome if you made all the loops yourself
but hay, can't have everything, right? i see you've done a lot to change the loops
so awesome
good thinking about the metaphoric sexy things, too! ;]
the overall is pretty groovy and funky, and definatly feels solid and sexy.
i grade it with a 9.5 out of ten for the loops and the lack of more raw synths.

fuck yeah i spaced out for a moment :D

dont go walking around all high and mighty though
maybe the next theme will be something you cant handle
also while im at it, we need propositions for the next theme

Okay I've edited my song some more... I've replaced the rhode piano with a 3x OSC sidechained with the kick drum with the FL Peak Controller and added some filtered "swoosh" effects with a deephouse interlude/leadin midway. I think... I will retire this song for now and call it done.

... although I've just realised I've offest the incline of the sidechain cutoff by several bars... but i'm too lazy to fix it because it still works lol.

you are to make a song incorporating or based on a vuvuzela sound
where you get that is your own business, but it has to -at least- sound like one
the song will have to have a minimal length of 1 minute (60 seconds)
try to make it as interesting as you can!

due date is monday the 26th
we'll start a feedback round on tuesday
