Theme: Suspense
Here's a brief sample of the piece I'm playing around with. Any suggestions. It's still in VERY early development.

Okay guys, work for both Zeak and I has really piled on and thus I myself am going to have to drop out for this one, I will try and join in the next one but I am away from the 21st to the 28th as my girlfriend is over from Finland during those dates and I don't plan on wasting any of the precious time I have with her by fighting with FL studio (how the hell you manage to make anything listen to-able with that I don't know [the learning curve IS steep]).

bah it's the last day, so this'll have to suffice.. :]
also the percussion is fl studio defaults and presets,
intro and ending are by vst plugin helix by audjoo
everything else is from colossus by east west quantum leap

it's just.. too vague..
anyway, the theme ends today, so if you're going to do something with it,
you could probably fade out the pad, and let the other instruments
emerge, and get to the big bang.. :D

even though christmas break will be there these coming two weeks,
i suggest we still pick a theme, for when people want to do something
i asked kain, who will be participating, and he said: sexy dance music.

basically laid-back breakbeat electro, with bonus points for vocals :3
you could look on the internet for vocals, royalty free
if you're not interested in vocals, which are a real challenge, i suggest just some other electro
this could also be really laid back, like air for example
but also really raw and core-y, like for example shameboy and, in a lesser form, daft punk
instruments NOT TO INCLUDE:
- piano
- strings
- choirs
if you're unfamiliar with techno and electro, try googling oscillator and arpeggiator :3

Tomas - I don't quite know why the loop I posted drags the pads and strings on for a second at the end. (I completely forgot about the deadline) My piece never quite sounded very suspenseful, just ominous and dark - If I stop procrastinating I might get around to finishing and posting.
Also... yeah, sexy dance sounds good I'm already working on it (wasn't really inspired by suspense to be honest).

tomas-i like the ambient chill to it. the percussive drops sound cool. the background guitar sf doesnt match very well imo, sounds kind of automated. the building layers are cool as shit though. piano was a nice touch. It kind of seemed to drag on a tad, though, and the suspense kind of died out. overall, I liked the flow, very much. what soundfonts were you using (didnt sound like a native vst imo)

yeah the suspense died out, though it makes for a good loop now, esp with the intro and ending which flawlessly joined.
The sounds i used were from 3 sources, intro and ending being a helix preset (helix vst by audjoo (pm me if you want it))
The percussion was standard fl, i believe the vintage drum set
all the other instruments were by the Colossus vst, almost all tweaked to match togetherr (Colussus vst by East West Quantum Leap)

Here's my unfinished attempt at a "sexy" house song. This song uses various loops from unknown sound packs (drum loops x2, 1x Bass loop) and several sfx from unknown soundpacks also. NB: I organize all instruments and effects and loops on my HD in accordance to genre and instrument type, rather than by source, so it is often impossible to tell where they came from. I wanted to create a laid-back chill-house sound that was remniscient of 70's groove music for that "sexy" sound. What do you think?
