Vagrant Euphoria: Revised

Alright guys, here is the news. I have been working, hard, REALLY hard to finish my midterm studying AND work on V.E. at the same time. I have been working on the Vance Render, and it is really starting to come along. I have it all in one color at the moment because I don't know had to put different textures onto different sections, but the actually form is looking nice. Don't believe me, see for yourself. I'm predicting that the graphics will end up somewhere in between FFVII-FFIX, somewhere in the middle of that. Later guys.

Hey guys. Just wanted to let you know, that I am currently working on Vance's head. Its no cake walk, but I think I'm making progress. I have already finished the eye sockets in the head mesh, Im going to do the nose tomorrow, which is will me about two days judging by how much I'm going to have to study. But, when I got some more progress, I will post some images. Night guys, wish me luck on my midterms tomorrow.
 
Looks interesting, I'm going to keep an eye on this one, don't go lettin' us down now.

PS: I know this post is kinda useless, but it helps me stay on track of what projects I'm observing.
 
If you make the basic 3d models of the characters you should be able to go into photoshop and work on them, bringing out a more visually pleasing look.

I love it so far!
 
@Petros: Haha, thats ok Petros, I thrive on pointless comments. It lets me know that not only people are reading, but that they're also interested. Don't worry, I have no plan on letting anyone down.

@Atnas: I'm not very skilled in photoshop, I haven't worked with it very much. I will look into it though, maybe I can crank up the sprites from the renders. Thanks for the great support.

To everyone else, I am still working on the Vance's head. Lemme tell you, heads are difficult. However, I have an image of what I have so far. It shows how the eye sockets are now finished and it also shows a very good tool of Blender, background image. A useful tool that lets you mold your mesh around a background image. The current one is of a frontal view on Cloud's face. Well, back to work everyone, later. Roxas

i was just looking at some of the artwork...
is that original? if so, i think you should really look into art school, you have a lot of talent, and obvious determination for such an ambitious project. good luck with those midterms.
 
Yes, all of the work, art, graphics, are original. Everything in this game is completely original. Thank you for the complement on my artwork, but artist isn't the job for me ^_^. I'm progressing more on the face guys, still working on the nose. Later, Roxas.
 
If you want, when the renders are fully completed, I could make them look a ton better. Reason being, I'm buying a tablet in a couple weeks, and that will boost my retouching by 600%. =3

Ok guys, here's the scoop. Heads, are very very very difficult, lol. Much harder then I originally anticipated. I am still learning how to use Blender, but, my skill isn't incredible yet. But, with time I will eventually become better. I am currently using a Program called FFXViewer, some of you may have heard of it. It loads renders of FFX characters and lets you view them in many different modes. I am going to be using this for many things, and it is actually being a big help. For instance, I just learned the in-game render of Tidus, his nose is just a rectangle, but it has a well detailed texture. This will make things much easier. Well, back to work. Later guys.

Alright guys, I have some news for you. I have finished the front view of Vance's face. I need to do the side views now, but I got to say, you can look at the flat mesh, and see all the features of the face. The eyes, lips, nose, its all there, so I am quite happy. EDIT: Two words you guys. Holy, and shit! This is very, very, VERY difficult, lol. I now just realized that while molding the mesh for the head to shape it correctly, I also moved vertexes that I didn't want to move, so now I not only need to finish molding the mesh, but when I'm done I also need to correctly reposition those moved vertexes. So, I seriously have my work cut out for me, lol. Well, back to some SERIOUS work. Later guys, Roxas.
 
Okay guys, here is the current situation. Vance's face, is probably the hardest thing I have ever tried to make. Seriously, I'm on the verge of just pulling a Cloud and making his face flat, lol. But, I won't give up, I will keep trying to get it just right. Now, what does this mean? This means that I will have to keep on expirementing and trying different methods of getting this done. But, its not simple. It will take a few days. So, there you have it. Winter break just started for me, so I should be able to get much more work done. I will also be working on the script over the next two weeks. Just know, that this render will take priority over the script however. Well, back to the ol' grind. Later, Roxas.
 
Yeah. I think going for VII graphics may be a very good solution to your frustration. However if you want to continue with the way you are i'll still support you 100%.
 
Thanks for the support malick. But, I'm not giving up. I'm not expecting FFXIII graphics for christ sake, but I'm sure as hell not going to settle on a box for my character's face. I am looking at tutorials right now, I'm trying to figure out how to do this, i think I might have found...something. Hey, atleast something is better then nothing. I think the problem is that I'm using cubes and not planes. Who knows. I'm going to give it a show. Wish me luck you guys, Roxas.
 
Hey guys, I have some bad news for everyone. Despite the fact that I have been using Blender now for about a month, I still have pretty much limited knowledge on how to even use it. So, the facts are, making a decent looking model, is going to take, quite a significant period of time. Not due to how long it takes to make them, but because I need to learn how to do everything. And at this rate, that might take some time. I'm not giving up, but, this could some time. Night guys, Roxas.

P.S.
For now, I will be using a low poly squarish mesh for Vance's head. Not great, but hey, its temperary.

Well guys, I have some GREAT news. I did it, I have created a nose and lips for Vance, and I did it the right way. Now all I need to do is shape the main head portion, and give him eyes sockets, and Vance's face is done! Then is just the hands and the basic model will be finished. Now, does that mean my work is done. Nope, my work is still cut out for me. Now, I need to learn how to do UVMapping Textures. Yeah, how long do we think that's gonna take, lol. But hey, atleast we have mad some progress. Later guys, Roxas.
