Vagrant Euphoria: Revised

Ok guys, here it is. I have been saying it for weeks, and its finally here. The first rough design of Vance. Its not the quality of a Final Fantasy designer in terms of the art, but I like this design very much. Tell me what you guys think. It will be on the first page.

You see, you guys havent quite grasped the true point of this game. If this game does what I am dreaming it will, it will completely revolutionize rmxp games as we know it. In terms of graphics, mapping, battle system sophistication. Every aspect. The true power of RMXP has barely even been touched. I plan to change that. Look at these screens.

How are we seeing these characters? Because that image was put into 2D form, and you look at it in paint. Image, taking two months, and replicated a sprite of that quality. Two months solely on one charset that is of the same caliber as the image that you're looking at? That is what I'm talking about. RMXP can handle that, and there shear power of sprites like that, could revolutionize the entire system. Imagine, a complex battle system that uses 3D animations rather then sprites, and created not from scripting, but with events. Imagine a 3D system within RMXP, a simple system 3D system based on a teleport system and 3D camera, done with events. The power that RMXP has is almost limitless and it has barely been touched. If all goes right, I'm going to show the true power RMXP holds.

Someone was going to use a 3D battle system once. They even made a demo. Unfortunatly it had terrible lag.

You gotta think of Lag and performance too.
RMXP was made for the casual 2D thinking about it. Even thogh there is possibilities for a 3D game.

It would be much Easier to make a 3D game in something like "Gamemaker" Yeah, google it looool.

Unless it's something you wish to feel proud and feel the achievment of the first 3D RMXP game.

But yeah, think of the player's point of view too. They don't want terrible lag, and it wold dissapoint them if it does.

( if you did make it ana amazing game like FFXII then I would bow to your feet lol ) I wish you good luck on this project =D

EDIT: reading through it, it sounds like im flaming, im not lol. Text without a feeling. The reader can change what the text means just by reading it in a different tone!! Crazy huh?

I think I am going to switch to sprites. But, as I said, the quality of the sprites will be the same if not better then the quality that you see in those screenshots. But, less squary. Let me see if I can find a picture that show you better of what I mean. Making a game with sprite quality of FFXII, is very much possible.

And I have actually taken the lag into consideration. It is actually a constant consideration. I can't make a thorough desicion until I actually test it to see how bad it is. I mean, it might not be noticable, or the game might not even be playable. It is something that I'm going to have to test, and afterwards work with.

EDIT: Here, this screen shows the quality of what I am talking about. Picture 2D sprites, that look like this...

HUGEASSPICTURE

Are you sure RMXP can handle that?

Of course. All they are are sprites. The same as any other but bigger and with much more definition and quality. Just because they look better, doesn't mean they aren't sprites.

As long as you don't give up it should work alright, although again my experience is that "2.5d", as I call it, can appear quite choppy and lifeless. Golden Sun tried to use imitated-3D for its battle system, and while certainly impressive for the GBA it had a strange ugliness I couldn't shake off.

It's all about animation, I guess. If your animation is good there should be no problem.

I hope this works well for you man. About to test out this battle system...

The battle system.
The current battle system is temp. am I right? It's for ideas and etc.
Well, To be honest... It's fricken amazing! The odd bug like when the enemy follows you it can get yo in a corner and then it spazzes out loool. But it's ace! What does CTRL do? The screen went into like a "Pause" mode which seemed intriguing. I pressed A and an attack menu appeared =D So I attacked joyfully. Thogh after attacking for abit, the dog seemed to teleport behind the tree and not move.
Here is the screen:

That was amazing. This is going to be revuloutionary if it gets completed! Mark my words.

@OdioOmnios: When it comes to animation, I haven't ever actually tried. But you better believe that even if it is horrendous I won't stop until I perfect it.

@Grey_hok: Actually that is not the battle system this game is using at all. You can find info about the battle system on the first post under Active Chain System. This is just a system I was creating in my spare time a few months ago. I played FFXII, I liked the battle system, and I decided to try and recreate it.

That's what I like to hear with projects like this. People tend to be hampered by doubt rather than actual inability.

Hence the large amount of cancelled projects.

It's determination and commitment that makes or breaks a project, not neccesarily talent.

Thank you for the support OdioOmnus. I don't claim to be the most amazing game creater on this forum. I do however have a dream of what I want this game to be, and I'm extremely determined to see them through, no matter how long it takes.

Hey guys, I have some news on a schedule for this month. This weekend I will begin writing the script for the game. I already have most of it written in my head, and this weekend I am going to begin writing. After that, I am going to begin Environment and Map Designing. This will take a good month or so, so I am guessing that sometime in January or February, I will start of Character and Weapon Design. I will be finishing the script before I start mapping though, so for who ever wants to read it, just send a PM. There will be some major spoilers though, it's the entire game. Later guys, Roxas.

Hey guys. I just wanted to keep you guys up to date. I am going to start writing up the script tomorrow. I already have pretty much the entire storyline in my head, I just need to put it down on paper. Tomorrow night I will post what I have finished, for those who might want to read it. Goodnight guys, Roxas.

Hey guys, little news flash about the graphics. I have been playing around with the spriting, and while what I have does look very very nice, it still doesnt have the feeling that I want to create, it doesn't have the 3D feeling. I will keep on trying, see if I can do better. But, I think in the end I am just going to go back to the 3D render sprites like I originally planned. Not that, that is bad. But, It will take longer to perfect my skills. Just thought I would let you know. Btw, the script is coming along. Later everyone, Roxas.

Hey guys. I haven't had very much time to work on the script so far, but I have done some work. I have about 3 or 4 pages finished on the beginning of that game. If I can figure out how to use the show/hide command, then I will post it up tonight. If not I will put it up tomorrow. I really want to know what you guys think, so when I post it please give me some creative criticism. Now, don't read this if you don't want to ruin the game, because throughout this collective script there will be massive spoilers, its the entire story. Night guys, Roxas. Check up on the first post to see if its up

EDIT: Okay, first four pages of the script are up and under show/hide boxes. Should have about twenty or thirty pages, hopefully, by the end of the week. Night guys, Roxas.

Hey everyone. Today I didn't work on the script and I decided to switch over to working on the graphics. I have started working on the full Vance render, and its coming along, although its no FFX graphics. But, its still nice. I will post it up in the first page under screenshots and once in this post. Night everyone, Roxas.

Hey guys, I know there hasn't been much progress this week. But, I have had to study for midterms, so I either haven't had time or have been very exhausted. Next week I have more exams, but expect some serious work to be done over Winter Break. Later guys, Roxas.
