theory's Script Art Workshop [CLOSED]

lol there are much better ways to implement an intro movie.
What kind of movie? avi? script animation? map events? I'll set it up for you if you let me know.

I've got a few revolutionary title scripts on the way. I know these are taking a long time but I've been experimenting. They are 100% animated, and 100% unique. Some credit will have to go to my fellow team member, Glitchfinder, because he helps when I get stuck on an idea (which is, well, common. lol).

Gods Ahoy is the first up, finishing the menu now. Should be up tommorow. It's scripted in XP, I'll convert to VX before release. Both versions will be released.

After that we have Sanu Ferrus. Having a bit of fun with this one, it's honestly still on the drawing board, but as I have a continuously growing library of script animations available, it will be interesting.

Witchhunter. I believe I have the perfect solution for this. This may or may not be released before Sanu Ferres, simply because on a scripting level it's much easier to implement a darker theme, which is complementary to this project.

The Gifted Child. This one will be a few more days. I'm waiting to complete the other three before starting another. However, being the only project to provide character art, I already have a few good ideas for it.

Retian: The Gatekeeper. I am proud to be working on this project, honestly. It could really turn out decent as long as the authors can continue to keep an open mind during development.

Placeholder for goldenryu9292: I appreciate your patience. Please make your request.

FF7 Title Screen Remake: I will gladly make this. It is quite simple in implementation, and above that, I believe it will be useful to the community. I will also be making a Golden Sun title. These are not request specific, just to serve a general purpose.

Triple Triad: The Beginning: This thread will be changing purpose soon. Show me some kind of images, screenshots, sketches, or something to demonstrate what you would like, and I will consider your request.

After these requests have been filled, this thread will be changing focus temporarily (the first post will be updated to reflect this.) It will be becoming a script art request thread. Will no longer be limited to title scenes.

Continue to remain patient as I tend to pressing situations out here in the real world. I will fill the requests I have accepted, the ones listed in this thread. Just be patient, and the finished product will be worth the wait. And as previously stated, all scripts will be free for open use as long as the credit remains intact. So if you can't wait for a title screen, feel free to use them as a starting point, not unlike the many moghunter scripts.

i wos looking for more of a map events with maybe a .avi movie b4 that... if i give u details of the title screen now, could u plz make it after all ur current requests....

Just to let you know, this title is a complete edit of the Forgotten Tales preview you have on the first post of this topic.... every image has been edited and none of the original graphics/audio have been used... so i hope i dont get in trouble for using it as a template lol :thumb:

Info in spoiler below!!!!!!!!!!
Name:
Eternal

Subtitle:
The Shade Of Evil

Concept Art(demo title):
(Edited to fit your title dimensions.......) could you please edit and make it flow better with some sort of leaves/objects flying objects to match the theme and visual style. If you could make a new background as the one i have got is a quick job and maybe make the whole dark look flow a little better it would be much appreciated...

Link to demo/basic title concept preview >>>> http://lix.in/-53308c [when it loads just press continue and it will take you to megaupload...] (lix.in protects the link from the bot-deletion after 90 days... which is the reason i didnt directly link it... sorry) :boo:

Style:
Dark theme, all black and white as the game is not based on colour at the start, world gets turned black and white by the enemy (hence the subtite: "The Shade Of Evil") Use the same fonts as the demo plz - "Scythe" for the title and "Weltron Urban" for the subtitle and menu button text.

Download link to "Scythe" font >>> http://www.searchfreefonts.com/free/scythe.htm

Dimensions:
Fit to RMXP (640 x 480 pixels)

Specifications:
Fully animated title screen with scripts and possibly a space for a short .avi movie at the start (company logos etc) and a map/event based intro before the title screen).

Theme:
Similar theme/style as the well-known RMXP game "Dark Eternal". Dark theme. Dark theme with black and white based gameplay as at the start of the game the enemy/villian turns the world to grey. :dead:

sorry for asking for so much........ i think

just giving you heaps of detail...

@mollymozo: It's a nice start. But you've seen nothing yet. If you can be patient, and let me finish my requests, I'd be honored to finish this title screen for you. Seeing your demo gave me several ideas of how to implement a much darker scene. And these scripts are to serve the general public. I'm honored you chose to use it.

@soupnazi - sorry it's taking so long. I got stuck on yours and redid it like 4 times. I'm sticking with the new one. A couple more effects and I'll post it. Won't be long now.

@everyone - look at mollymozo's request. Even without the example, that is how you get my attention. The more information I have, the more I can help you. Some of you did okay, some of you just gave the minimum. Some of you linked to the project thread, and I won't bother to reflect a rating for those. Just know that your finished product will reflect what I had to work with.

I've been up for almost 52 hours. More after sleep, lol.

lol no probs man, i can wait for the others to be finished first

thx for acknowledging mine and i will try to give a slightly more updated and more in-depth demo for you to use...
:bunny:

If you have a game demo (even limited) it will help me understand the concept. I won't steal or expose your work; I didn't get where I am by doing that kind of thing. If you can't share that regardless, I understand.

I'm clocking in now. So hopefully we'll have something fun within a few hours.

yea, although i havent even scripted in anythingi into it yet, iv made a few maps and thought of what will happen so when i get it done. should be in the next few days i will pm u a link and you can make the title accordingly..

another question..... bit off topic tho... but do u on where to find some good animations for my intro....??? because when you see my demo, it will become clear why i need some good animations... not the RTP ones lol

I'm trying not to post until I have a release. I went way too far with this title screen, hence getting stuck on it. I'll be posting it in about 12 hours. The rest will go much faster, as I developed most of the effects I need in this one.

Soupnazi: God's Ahoy title screen is ready. I will convert it to VX for you tommorow. I'll post the XP one tonight. I'd still like to do something different with the menu, but I will be updating this script later. I can't spend any more time on it with so many people in line. Hope you understand. If you want any adjustments made such as color or whatnot let me know and I can take care of those. If you're too dissatisfied with it you can re-request and I'll make something completely different for you.

There's a lot more work than it looks like in this script. It was a learning curve for me, having to animate everything, not to mention its written 100% by hand. There is no other script or even copy/paste content here. Shouldn't be any errors, but if there are, let me know.

Check it out, give me your comments. Try to judge the script more than the graphics themselves. And as always, script is open source. If you want to try your own thing with it, you're encouraged to. Credit is appreciated.

It's 3:30 in the morning and I work all day tommorow. So I'm going to pass out now. More tommorow night.

Um, that's a rar file, not sure I can open those...
Usually when I download RPG maker things I unzip them into "My Documents" and then do a search in my documents to find them, and when I did that, the thing didn't show up.

I didn't open that up.
And is there anyway you could make it a non-rar file? I'm not really comfortable with downloading a program just to open up this one rar file.

Normally, on every windows i have had, WinRar was already on it..... its a real safe program, just download it, lots of stuff is stored in winRAR

Your Gods Ahoy script is pretty awesome. Loving the shark that swims by! With some dedicated artwork applied it would be an amazing title screen, but like you say - judging by the scripting, not the art - it's really impressive.

The only thing I would suggest is editing the back row of waves, so that they travel in the same direction as the front, but at a slower speed. That would better convey the illusion of a moving ship. At the moment, it's as though the sea is flowing in opposite directions. =P

@Soupnazi: Winrar is perfectly safe. It may even be Microsoft endorsed. It's just as common to come across a .rar file as a .zip file, if not more common. And it works in the same way as unzipping. Go download it and check out the awesome work Theory has put into your title!

wow theory, that gods ahoy title screen is amazing!!! one thing i noticed is that the edges of the star transition are a bit pixely but other than that it is awesome... :haha: how the hell do you write that whole script by hand... i can't script anything, and i mean anything lol :haha:

By the way what other animation scripts are you thinking of creating other than title scenes?

lol thanks for all the wonderful comments.
Personally, I thought the paper cutout with shadows style was kind of cute, though it could be better implemented, possibly better served for a different kind of title (not sure, all I know is this is some kind of a serious comedy, apparently.) Once I run through the requests I'll do some generic art packs for these scripts that are a little more thought out.

About the star transition, it didn't hit me until now that I could have acheived that effect using a transition file but setting vague to 0. I originally went with the bitmap method simply for the detail that I plan to use it for rotation at some point. I can go with a higher-resolution image, but that would decrease framerate even worse for slow machines (I tested). I have a smart transition method in the works for this next title scene that should address the framerate and the resolution problem, using black-colored "panels" and pushing them outwards while scaling the "shape" in the center only rather than a 640x480 bitmap. Scaling and rotation take a lot more system requirements than simply displaying and moving.

As for what other animation scripts, I'll be making a library of different effect plugins for scripters to use that include things from simple bounce effects, 2d and 3d ring menus with icon rotation (if a charset is selected), different rotation and graphical effects, etc. There will also be material modification scripts, such as dynamic height and fatness for map events (and player characters) which can enable both variety and unique eating systems I suppose. A more dynamic shader script, some particle and projectile related scripts (with menu implementations), and, my personal favorite, dynamic titles.

Dynamic titles are a concept I've been working on for some time, allowing fancy letter effects like gradients, outlines, font selection, fog letters, and even easily configurable animations.

I am practicing these things because I need them for an upcoming (major) project, and being that project's lead I need a good understanding of all things scripting. This is good practice, and serves a good purpose.

As for writing scripts by hand, after some of the things myself and the rest of Scriptastic have gone through to rewrite almost every script (can't explain this one just yet ;] ), the title scene doesn't even count as a challenge.'

About the waves in that last one: I originally had them going the same direction. I didn't like it. There is a comment on all the speed setting lines. Under setup_waves, change it to rearwaves_sx = -5 to see for yourself.

As for changing the .rar, it's a rather large file and I do have an upload limit. Wait for the VX version and I'll post it in a .zip. That should be later on tonight (or early tommorow morning, for some people.)

Up next, Sanu Ferres. This one will go a good bit faster, as it's not an animated scene. Don't worry, though, new and more creative features are a guarantee in this workshop. I'll post more when I have more to post.

Looks interesting, I really like what you've done.
They are pretty original in my opinion; I cannot wait to see what you've done with mine.
Pretty creative material you have there.
