I want to say that the random placement of booze is somewhat a reflection on the owner's displeasure that somebody ordered so much alcohol in the first place, but you do have a point. I don't like how uniform it looks when I only put the sauce on the counter, though. The sofa is skewed for the sheer impracticality of it all... >_>

But I'm liking the way carpeting looks when you do that; it's totally ingenius, and you're rad for telling me about that. I also got the idea to fill the space that the green shelf was in with what will eventually be properly colored into a cat statue. And possibly a running gag. Eeee. <3

And yes, Gan-gan really does have no face. I think it's really cute, so I have him onscreen when I test maps and junk. (I subconciously modeled him after The Question?!) I just half-assed where the shadows would be, though...

No wonder it's such a nice sewer...

I'm working on getting some lighting over the torches...
"janitorial ninjas" ... wow...

Raiju- What's so painful about that font? I don't see anything wrong with it at all. It's just different. It's readable which is all that really matters.

Raiju are you high? You can barely notice the lighting effect. It's not distractive at all. :P It doesn't seem to be masking anything on the map, you can see everything distinctively clear.

I'd agree, even though this is the third time we are discussing that screenshot! I am a fanof overlays anyway, but it by no means can excuse bad mapping behind it. Adrenaline Rushs map has nice mapping and a pleasent overlay in my eyes, though I would like to see a new screen!

Raiju, don't take it too personally! I think he was joking, not trying to be offensive.

Personally, I think the lighting looks nice, and I would love to see it animated. ^^;; I mean, granted, it's really bright in the top corner, but you can still see where you are going.

Please said I of what you think of it :thumb:

It looks very decent. However, a few things that could be improved: One, some parts of the street seem a little bare (like the upper right corner). You could probably make a building bigger to take up more space in the empty street. I also notice that some of the buildings seem to be placed randomly. Usually cities are arranged in some sort of block format (I guess that's what you'd call it; I can't think of a better way to explain...). Also, some houses have some really odd shapes, that, while unique, make them a little... awkward. I'm not sure if anyone else feels the same; I could just be weird.
It's a good map, though. I like the amount of depth it has. Usually people make flat towns with not even half the amount of difference in elevation that you gave it. :)

It's readable, but not easily readable. I have to spend time deciphering the letters rather than just automatically parsing the text. That makes it painful to read. It's okay for small amounts of text, but if you had to read a lot of it, it would get really old really fast.

I am certainly not high, thank you for being offensive. I find the lighting overlay to be the very first thing I see on the map. Not the player, which should be the center of attention, nor the path I should be taking, but that distracting, ugly, bright ray.

You have to spend time deciphering the letters? O_o

There easily readable to me.

Lol J... XD Well, it was even fluently readable to me, and due to my German habits, I'm not used to English words like 'janitors'... ^_^ But I have to say, I'm with Raiju on this one, because - though this part of text is readable - a font like this makes reading hard no matter what, especially on a longer time period (as in hours). It's not exactly suited for the main font in an RPG...

For example J, look at the words janitorial and ninjas in Arc's screenshot. Those words, while readable, require more effect because the j's don't hang below the other letters, the n's are highly bubbly, etc.

If you think about it, a letter is really nothing but a drawing. And the more you modify a drawing, the harder it can become to recognize the original. And the easier it is to make a mistake.

Take Windings for example; each picture represents a letter; but because there is no visual way to tell which is related to which without a translation chart, it's "unreadable."

The c's in that font look almost capitalized, and I had to carefully re-read janitorial to be sure it was spelled correctly... not because it's a hard word to spell really, but because it has enough letters that mix together with that font that make it a bit questionable with just a single glance.

I use a stylized font for names in CA, and even in the intro, but there was no question in my mind I was not going to use that font for the game; it was readable, but it required enough effort that it would really wouldn't be worth inflicting on people, especially with the amount of text I use.

In the screenshot in question, look how much more easy it is on your eyes to read the "Canadian Knights" down in the lower right corner of that window; your mind recognizes the words because it seeks the whitespaces, and quickly pieces the words together from each side working inward; it's like that "if you can read this" thing populating everyone's signatures recently. Your mind doesn't carefully mull over each letter at amazing speeds, it takes the easy route and identify's them as chunks, only going into detail if it can't find an "easy match."

Maybe it's me and years of volunteering to help grade handwritten papers, but I found no problem in reading his font at all. It's a quirkier Comic Sans MS basically and that's a pretty standard font. If Arc decided on changing it, I'd hope he'd find a font with the same sort of personality, rather than go for a Verdana clone.
