Thanks for the feedback, the status text will certainly be centered if I can't find an easier way to display it, I've been thinking of using icons to represent things certain states, but I can't find a way to organize it well without really limiting how useful it is.

I'm currently debating on the command window, I'm thinking of either making it look nicer and keeping it textual, or changing how it's look to something more graphical, OR changing how you input commands altogether.

Currently working on enemy HP/SP bars over them in battle, since they will be regening HP/SP just like the player during combat naturally. :)
 
I don't know if any decision was made regarding whether projects and screenshots from other game makers were allowed in this forum (this forum meaning Project Discussion). I'd personally like if you posted screenshots in GC (because the forum was created for a reason), but as long as you say "this isn't RMXP" it's fine w/ me.
 
Nice map, but the mouse cursor looks odd. Never use a dot for a cursor, use an arrow, hand or somthing with a point. It would be hard to get used to using a dot (it's counter-intuitive).

Well I'd say it depends on what they are going for. They certainly don't seem like normal jail cells.
 
Shameless screenshot post again! Although this time I'm looking for some feedback on the state idea (the icons for active states will continue to pile along, with a max of 11 states visible).

Enemies (like you) regain HP and SP based on individual "rates" of recovery, with each "tick" being about 1 second. You can temporarily increase/decrease any of those rates with skills too. Being in "Defend" triples your recovery rate. Enemy HP/SP can be seen right above them, and the max recovery rate can be frighteningly fast!

(Menu's are still WIP)

I really like your battle system, it makes me want to play your game. And I hardly ever have the urge to play any PC game. :)
 
The icons working for me would really depend on how easy they are to rember. Do you have a list of stats and their icons? but they look good! :)
 
The icons will be the same as the skill that's used, and I'll make standard ones for enemy attacks, so a Poison style would have it's own icon (although the strength wouldn't be shown) and an HP Regen down another, etc.

I'll try hard to make it as intuitive as possible, icons are dangerous to go with, but I found the text ugly AND limiting. (Even moreso than icons.)
 
Did you try it with a border or a faded edge? It looks nice, but the line where her hair ends and the message box start might be improvable if you can make some kind of alias effect or maybe a border. Then again, a border might make it look worse!

Either way it looks fine as is now. Do you use your mouse to draw the lines for your artwork?

@JD: Im guessing you posted that specifically for comments on the message system, but I just noticed your trees dont have shadows.O_o
 
GameRage, when are you going to send the betas out?

Yeyinde, umm...what the hell is it. That just looks like a pic of the RMXP database.
 
GameRage - I really like your stuff, a beta would be amazing, I'd definately be interested in playing that. It makes such a difference when people create customs, your designs and locations look fab!

Heavens I love your sprites GameRage, they always look so darned professional!

And you always put in that extra mile on maps to make them look more believable.

@Anaryu:Yeah I'm thinking I may try out a border, but I kinda' want to make it blend with the message box too.... and yeah I do all my art with a ouse on MSPaint... (I feel poor lol)
