Awesome Bro

Well I only have one screenshot to show, of a game I'm not sure if I want to progress with, not because I don't like the concept/idea I have, but because I start too many projects at once, and atleast one of them always gets scrapped;

As you can see, it's just some dude stood infront of a building, nothing special but I thought I'd share it with you.
The yellow bar is just a placeholder till I figure out what to put there.
(Started work on the game about a month back)

Its a good map Nikki no doubt I just hope you plan on putting more people in there. Because its so baren. And in the first screen I'm not to sure whats going on with the stone pillars at the bottom but they have no tops! :eek:

But its good sthit nonetheless.

The tops of the towers are done with events so you can walk behind them.

Reives, those videos are pretty amazing. Very ambitious. In the intro, the guy that changes into a tiger might use some work, his movement is a bit wonky (the straight diagonal coming down the ramp, and the jump). Other than that my only complaint is that Youtube looks like shit.

fox5, nice tree. Just thought I'd point that out.

Nice screens, Davey. The only thing, on the first screen the character looks a bit strange, with his eyebrows almost attached to his eyes...

Those are his eyelids...the eyebrows are higher up.

Speaking of which, I think you should get rid of the facemaker picture. It's pixellated and only succeeds at making the scene look crowded.

Here's the first cutscene of my game..

A few things wrong with your screen, LunarEclipse:
1. The text box is obscuring the sprite. Try moving it to the top of the screen where there's nothing really going on.
2. Why are there butterflies out at night? And don't say they're moths, moths aren't blue!
3. Why are there too campfires right next to a house made entirely of flammable materials. Also why are they next to the water. Also why are they sitting in tall grass. Also why are they campfires at all.
4. Why is the doorway to the house not a doorway at all? Is it a door? It doesn't look like a door.
5. The dialogue itself is pretty laughable. It can be forgiven that he's thinking aloud, but the line itself is bad. Why does he need to say that he heard a noise? It would be a lot better if he just said "What was that noise?". But even that's sortof blah.

A few things corrected with the screen, luminier:
1. Text box moved to the top of the screen
2. Butterflies will be deleted or recolored to look like moths.
3. I was trying to add lighting effects, but I decided to remove them.
4. That is the inside of the house's floor, there is no door.
5. Dialogue changed to "What was that noise?"
There is an ogre nearby that basically starts the story -----

I suggest using one of the doorway tiles available in the RTP, instead of just using the floor tile. It's definitely accomplishing the effect you wanted.

one of them? idk whatever shape doorway you want.

@jbrist
the character doesn't really mesh well with the background. he's some sort of big pixelly man and the background isn't really pixelated. idk that might have been what you were going for but it looks off to me. also the lack of color/detail makes it very boring!!! i assume it's a WIP but you didn't really say that so

Yeah the people are meant to be more pixelated than the environments, and the original plan was to be in black and white, using dot matrix styled colouring (To distinguish lights from darks etc.), however, if when I have more spare time, I can somehow colour it all and make it look GOOD, then I'll use colour.

Also, the characterset is just the template, I'll obviously be spriting onto it.

Thanks. There is more:

Throughout Lewa you can find multiple camps, set up by the Arcane Order. Some of them are crowded by life, others completely abandoned. These camps were used by the Arch Mages their followers and preaches to lure new members. Take a look in one of the tents, and who knows. You might entangle yourself into a commitment spanning a lifetime, or you might provoke your new enemy. Because the Arcane Order is not looking for trouble in the more civilized area's of neutral Lewa, the camps are usually a bit out of route, in the midst of fields and forest and certainly not around towns. Don't be scared of the Imps, Wolves and other enemies who might be raiding a camp, while you're in it...

lakeiy1.png

Next to mountains, fields, forests, villages and beaches, gigantic lakes can also be found on Alva. This lake for example can be found on Dublith Country. At first it might look like it's just water, but after closer inspection you might find some mysterious properties. Ask yourself: why are these lakes full of growing plants, and how come you don't see any animals. Quite away from the sea, how did the water came to this isolated place. Unravel the secrets of Lew, to get to be a real Lewan, or to socialize with your co-civilians. It's all multi-culti these days, ain't it? With the Trading Router leading to Dublith and other civilized places on Dublith Country, this lake is visited often. Perhaps you spot some traders who tell you bizarre stories on your journey to the unknown...

villagefr3.png

On this image you can see one of the little villages. Lewa is on Alva's timeline quite young and not all area's is just plain city blocks. Instead, you will find more proof of the existence of a farmer's lifestyle then in any other area, for example this peaceful village - although that's what the villagers want you to think - were words like stress and pressure don't appear in the dictionaries. Buy yourself some food to pep you up, or new weapons, which are used by farmers to farm, or you might find your quest of a lifetime, or just one that will earn you some nickels...

Things you can do with the RTP.

The mapping is super gorgeous. Clever trick to pick one graphic and repeat it in different variations for multiple tiles.

But the beach is a lil' weird, with the water shape.

I want your maps o.o

The torches on the walls seem to come out of nowhere. If it's supposed to be attached to the wall, you'll need a more convincing graphical edit.

@Meâ„¢
Marry me, Meâ„¢. @_@

Anyway, I found the fading left menu to be a bit weird. It makes it looks like 'options' and 'logout' are not part of the menu :(

Other than that the maps are well made.

@Twin Matrix
I don't know what to say but it's really great. Love the atmosphere you got there :)

@Twin Matrix
We thank you :). Sometimes the water at the sea shore temps to be a bit weird, I agree. As a whole it usually looks quite fine though.

@Hima
Hihi, designing the HUD took me some time, and we encountered quite some problems. As for the menu, I think that we don't really want people to log-out. So you make it less attractive to do so :P However, moving the cursor down will then bind the items with the menu again, but I get what you mean...
