^The platforms seem too dark/lacking contrast compared to the charsets and roots, almost like when they're not in the active layer in the editor. May be intended though.
That use of RTP tree branches is actually really creative; I'm pretty impressed with the idea. c:

Their placement seems awfully messy, though. I think that map would easily look a lot prettier if you had a couple less floating root-platforms.

I think most of the mess is resulted from the overlapping ones - because their colour tones/shadings are the same, hence there isn't a vertical dimensional effect. It should be good once there are no overlapping, or make a separate "higher" version. Prior is obviously more efficient.

Edit:
I suddenly got an idea from staring at that; thanks. c:

It'd be cool if you just had a few of them, and made them into charactersets (so you can tint them easier or recolor for better depth) and have them float around XD

set them to move at the slowest rate, I think it'd look really cool, but idk, it feels like it needs movement.

Yeah, I was thinking something like that too. But it may be better with pictures instead of charsets, that way you have more control over them, and can even give it a zoom out/crescend effect by a slight, fast zoom.

Random shot from my long running project with an evented CBS in RM2k3. The faint lines are part of the battle animation finishing.
Yes I'll be slanting the eye shots in the status area... eventually.
Also note the number of blue tube things change depending on party size, so the "window" doesn't look so empty if the player has few party members. Here it lacks one. ... (for once I am working on an RPG with max 4 party members rather than 3.)

The light blue lines are CTB bars, red means it's going down. (Meaning you have a limited time to choose an action despite other bars not increasing during a turn/action.)

@006:
The sprites themselves are rips and minor edits to animate, background is from a site I can't remember - but is basically from ToP, but system elements like the window background and so on are custom.

In what way are the "VP" and "AP" bad? Is it because of the different sized letters?

@Xaixis:
It seems Imageshack have been starting to add random unrelated links underneath hosted images now. I always use the (somewhat hidden now) "direct link" to avoid any of their annoying crap they're doing now. D:

@Reives: True true, meh, I was thinking of giving it that "float" animation, where it just bobs up and down, it'd be easier with charactersets, but I have a personal preference to pictures anyways XD

Alright awesome ^_^ I was NOT looking forward to having to remake all those tiles xDD
But Drew which were you talking about looking more shaded? The characters or the tiles?

Oh yeah, a bobbing effect is probably optimal for those rooted platforms. I kinda got offtrack by thinking of other similar objects in that scenario - feels like a massive amount of rocks should be tossed around when I looked at it.

Ohhh.. the characters are actually shaded LESS than normal Breeze characters and the tiles xD Besides the outlines they only use 2-3 colors. Normal Breeze things use 4-5.
Tis why I just wanted to make sure you didn't mean the tiles looked shaded more.
