TOO DARKK!!! BLAARGHCKJSHA!

If you can't see what's going on I'd recomend you adjust your monitor settings. It's supposed to be pretty dark as all the screens are from the same night.
I'd really like some constructive feedback on this, like the mapping etc. There are some errors that I'm already aware of, though. Like the bottom of cliff looking a bit too rough, the water looking plain ugly and also the lack of shoreline in the last screen.

To damn dark...

I know you cant see shit at night... and you are going for the realism look(despite the fact that you are using cartony sprites)... but you should study the "American night" concept

Let it go bro. I'm not changing the color tone. The only screen I might lighten up a bit is the last one which was a bit rushed anyway. I've tried testing the game with both my laptop and some of my buddies computers, and you can see everything clearly ingame.

It looks pretty good. Are the graphics rips or originals?

Also, some people here either need to get their eyes checked or adjust their computer's brightness. It is dark, sure, but I figure it was supposed to be. It's perfectly clear and the darkness doesn't obscure the map at all.

Thanks Kaze! It's good to see someone commenting on the screens without complaining about them being too damn dark:P

They are all rips, mostly from the SNES game Rudra. I didn't rip them myself, I just converted them from rm2k to rmxp compatible tilesets. Well, that and some heavy editing of some of the tilesets.

Celvin some people's monitors display things rather dark. So you have to becareful of that. It's okay to me but that second one is kinda dark :P But my monitor is light with things usually. And if you make it so some people can't see it they won't play your game so you automatically rip out a crowd of people to play your game. Just sayin.

@Raven: I'll have that in mind. Weird, the second screen has the same color tone as the other screens actually.

@006: I know the shoreline sucks, so that needs some editing. Do you think the rest of the autotile is bad as well?

Oh, how I've missed stalking this thread.

I had intended to show what I was working on when I'd completed it, but it doesn't look like it's going that way. After months of absence from my little project, I have little to show for it. And now I'm mostly stuck. But here it is anyway:

Chances are I won't complete this game; I just can't do the graphics quickly enough, for a start. But I do want to at least complete this tileset. Any thoughts on how to add an appropriate ceiling to the scene would be greatly appreciated, as well as general C&C.

Mattastic, that looks great! Do you really need a ceiling? With the perspective you're using, you wouldn't be able to see it (except for the front-facing edge similar to those you can see on the walls), unless you made it possible to see a much higher point. I personally think it's probably going to look better the way it is, without the ceiling.

The style and the shading are really nice. I also really like the way the shadow looks. The only problem is the lighting. Since the walls get lighter toward the bottom, the floor getting darker further back kind of clashes with this (what's making the walls just as bright in the back as in the front?). There isn't a light source behind the character, so, if anything, the shadow should be facing the other way. Honestly, though, I think I'm only noticing this stuff because I'm looking for it. The depth looks nice, even if it's not 100% realistic, so I'm not sure it's necessary to change it.

Thank you for the critique. :)

The back wall is actually darker at the bottom than the side walls are. The walls actually get lighter as they approach the bottom, and as they approach the front, with the bottom front being the brightest point of all. Perhaps it's the floor that makes it hard to see that. Unfortunately, an un-shaded floor looks a little wrong. However, you are right that it's not realistic the way it is. I'll have a play around.

The shadow's something I can't replicate in RPG Maker and is just photoshopped in. Which is probably for the best, for the reasons you cited. This still functions as a dynamic tileset, so the light source could actually be coming from anywhere. Hence why the walls are (meant to) appear evenly lit all the way around.

And you're probably right about the ceiling. I thought I came up with a good alternative earlier, and it looks rubbish.

EDIT: I've posted a version with properly shaded walls and floor under a spoiler tag in my other post.

Black Shadow...
Seems like you need one more color to go with the violet/grey scheme.
Here's what I came up with along with other problems I saw...

White curtains seemed to be a good idea to me, to go with the violet ones, but I couldn't make them look nice in a short amount of time.
None of my solutions are perfect, though the gold tassels look pretty nice.

EDIT

Forgot I made a new logo too...
CRITIQUE! I COMMAND IT!  ...please. ^_^

Hmm, the white did fit in with the violet curtains. If I need to use another colour, I would go for white with a piece of gold aswell. Thx for the exampels . I will see how Im going to do.

I made this map earlier today. I could put in some white curtains here aswell.

It may look a bit bare around the stairs, but I coudln't find anything to make it look less bare around those areas without making it look like a mess.

I think those two lamp thingys [[not to sure what they are]] at the top of the stairs seem a little out of place. :/ but thats just me. And I'm not really a fan of the carpet in the kitchen [[the room in the upper left]] also seems like it was just thrown on there.

All in all excellent stuff. I do think that you should change the color of the couches as well. The pink clashes with the purple theme you've got going on y'know? just a suggestion. :)

this looks awesome but the font's annoying. either change it or make it a little bigger (or both)

http://img157.imageshack.us/img157/9553/vectlogo3ii6.png

it's not instantly-readable. a logo should be BOOM READABLE withouth having to think about it at all. the fancy B and the shit coming off the L take away from readability. also the V looks like a U
