...you don't see where you can put more houses?  O.o;;;

You have so much plaza space there it hurts.  You can add a couple more smaller houses near the ones that are already there, and make the market bigger.  Leave a cross of two or three tiles extending out from the center platform, and fill up the rest.

Awesome Bro

It doesn't necessarily need more houses, just space fillers. I don't like it when people say "Just add more houses" because then that means more NPC's, and it totally changes your initial idea for the town/village. Try making it a little more busy. Structure the centre so it's more eye pleasing instead of a big open space. It seems a pretty perfect place for an outside market in my opinion, but that's just me.

I don't think I'll ever get used to VX's style.

What if I added a market around the platform in the middle of my map? (and expanded the current one in the bottom left corner?)

That's what I said :p Erich made a good point. Every village/town centre tends to have a statue or significant marker to represents where you are. A fountain would be nice, or maybe the town's local trade in statue form? (That's what my hometown has ... along with Queen Victoria).

Perfect!

I'm trying. I suck at mapping though.

I just added the market around the fountain and expanded on the already existing one, what else could I add?

Ok how does it look now?
Are the flowers ok or should I replace them with stalls?

Note: There is an animated water fountain on the platform and the items on the stall at the bottom are on the even layer so you may not be able to see them.

Count how many spaces between houses or between the west wall and the west side of the fountain.

Then testplay, and walk it yourself.  You're likely going to see tons of empty space.

Even if your map looks decent zoomed out in the editor, it's not always gonna look good when you actually play.

I really need something that will fill the bottom right and top right corners beneath each of those houses.
My tileset doesn't really have any long fountain pools and no horizontal flower pits.

Because they aren't houses.
Top left corner is an inn
top right is a guard house
bottom right well...not sure yet, was thinking item shop

It is unlikely those buildings would be connected together
This is the entrance plaza to a city, it wouldn't have a bunch of connected houses, there are three residential districts, the houses are mostly there.

that's why.

You can fix the emptiness by simply putting out a few more houses, and it would make sense for a town to have more than 4, so it's win-win. :> One below each of the 2 northern houses is a good start.

@Elias: So ... Damn .. Beautiful ... I'm ... addicted ... How did you create the font look and what kind of font is it? Also, is that VX?

@Ice:Why don't you add some stuff to the tileset your using if you don't have enough things to add to the map. BTW, what tileset are you using for that map?
