These screens are basically examples of the current version of the HUD that's going to be used in my survival game (half complete, if you're wondering about the empty space).

The green circle represents hunger, the yellow energy, and the blue thirst.  As you lose each stat, the game keeps track of the average and your overall health either rises or drops.  When your overall health gets too low...  :sad:

If you happen to be able to walk over the HUD on a map, it automatically becomes more transparent so you can see what you're doing  :smile:

A demo is in the works, so stay tuned in early projects.

Well, it's still a bit too early to give out more details about the game; I work with a lot of sketchy placeholder art, so the screenshots should be considered heavy wip. The story is going to rotate around unlikely heroes, inspired by the spirit of 'Firefly' and 'OnePiece'. I will try to make a proper page in the early dev forum in the next 2 weeks.

This is the best artwork I've seen in an RPG Maker game (any version)... Period.

(By the way, I should probably mention: I've seen thousands of screenshots and character illustrations, played dozens of demos, beaten quite a few fully-playable demos over the years, and even tried to design a few RPGs; starting with RM95, up until now.)

Only suggestion would be that you should decide whether or not for the faces on the message window will have white border around them. It looks inconsistence when one face has and the other has not :) Other than that...it's AWESOME!!!
 
Lurk I don't think I have to say it look great. But as suggestion maybe drop out that white outline you got going on around the faces and the sprites. How does it look without it? Especially on the faces it just kinda jumps out at you taking away from the artwork. I think it'll blend in and mesh better without it. But otherwise absolutly goregous, your art really springs the characters personalites out already :)
 
I know what you mean TREG. I was thinking about posting some things until I saw Lurks stuff. Guess I'll wait until I have something more interesting to put here =P
 
Reminds me of Sonic.. Is your game alike to sonic in a way?

Welcome to the Ninurta Stagnants, a land filled with rot, decay, and endless swarms of hungry insects. After the strange beings known as "The Putrefaction" moved into, the once pleasant (though very wet) land took a turn for the worse. Located inside the swamp is a cave of stagnation where vile abominations lurk and the air always smells rancid.

Visitors are reminded to bring antifungal foot cream or they will suffer some itchiness.
 
@Enrichment: Not really, as far as setting and storyline is concerned. There are a few familiar objects like those springs you jump on, winged rings being a logo, checker-patterned backgrounds, and some familiar gameplay like special stages, but you're not running at high speeds, fighting a mad scientist who turns animals into robots, collecting golden rings that float in the air for no apparent reason and so on. I will admit that this game is was made with Sonic influence, though it's supposed to be a remake of a newbie-crap project I've done.

By the way, your swamp looks absolutely awesome, your cave does as well. Excellent work.
 
I see. Anyway, I checked out your slimy the sahagin topic back in the resource section and the game looks quite nice. Most of all it seems all the characters and even the enemies are all lovable! Seems like a humorous game to play. I like the idea of having a monster be a hero.

I'm having a lot of trouble getting the pier/boardwalk tiles right. I felt there wasn't enough contrast before (although I am going for a creepy, dull, repetitive look) so I changed the colour, then I noticed our hero had been drawn as if one were looking at him from above whereas the rest of the map is drawn from a side-view, and now this fisherman guy clashes with the pattern on the pier/boardwalk. Rargh!

Nope, you play as the lobster.

And thanks, but I would hardly call that "retro". Simple, yes, but the colours are hardly right for that old school look, they're far too pale and glib.
