There was a french user (MGCaladtogel) who created a script so the game would be isometric a while back.
Topic can be viewed here although it is in french: http://rpgmakerxp-factory.net/forum/ind ... ic=10787.0

Gudib is now implementing/translating that script, well has already. Into his TBS (GTBS) and now with the help of Siegfried (another french RM user on that board who made a demo- I can't find the link right now, which implemented height) is implementing height into his TBS aswell.

Both Siegfried and Gudib have accounts on this site.

As for the script itself, it works by having 2 maps and putting the image of the first map over the second and changing the angle of the second by 45 degrees.. I think (it's in french and I'm not a scripter so this is what I assume)

The first map is the foreground image which is made up of whatever isometric tileset you make, and drawn on like any other tileset however is only a visual layer. Then you have the second map which is a standard rtp or any tileset where you create the outlines of the isometric to where the boundaries are. It takes a bit of trial and error figuring out where you need to put the boundaries though.

The isometric tilesets take a bit of work getting them in right positions, however most of my template is complete and now the hardest part is finding Ideas to fill in the gaps and map the maps look less dull. And of course touching up.

DeadlyDan, that is probably one of my favorite screens in the topic. Try making the text look more pixelated and blocky. I bet you can import the actual font RM2K used.

Superhero, it looks good but some of it is WAAAY to dark.

When will people realize that it's possible to show night effects without making it impossible to see?

Neeeevvvverrrrr!!! moohahaha... *cough* anyway...

Yeah they look nice Superhero, The only problem I would have is I'm to fond of using smoke/mist on the inside of a building, it looks ok, but would look better if it didn't over run into the black areas as well.

DespainThanks =] but which bits did you think were too dark? Were you talking about the Lovers Creek screenshot? Because I think I see where you're coming from, but I'm not sure what to do about it.

Hevendor Thaanks =D

Rain Yeah, I see where you're coming from... chaanged now, I cut and pasted bits of Fog till it looked the part and could sit nice and comfortable curling on the inside of the building but NOT the outside =3 cheers, I wouldnt have noticed otherwise.

DO NOT add a fucking fog.  Fogs just cover your mistakes and make things look bad.

Just make the cliffs more natural looking.  You've got this weird EVERYTHING IS CIRCLES look going and it's very unrealistic.  Cut off some of those circular corners and add some rough, bumpy edges.

Jagged Look? If you can elaborate that would be great.

Make it look more rough and natural.  You have these rounded corners which makes the cliffs look like your basic ellipses.

Ah Vikon.  Your amazing under water tale will never get old.
Anyway, since we want a screenshot, I guess I'll supply one.
The tileset is still a WIP, but it's getting there.

Wow Mario! That looks wonderful! You wouldn't happen to have some kind of tutorial or such out about making tilesets would you?

I do enjoy the purple scheme in there too. I don't think I see purple caves often enough.
