This should very much resemble a Pokémon Starter town. (It's not - don't worry - I just want it to look like it is) The bigger building is like a lab.

Dude... now that you mention Pokemon and a VX screenshot in the same post... VX would be so awesome for Pokemon fan games.  Quick, someone adapt the starter kit for VX!  XD

As people have said already, the houses need to be bigger.  I'd extend it by one tile on either side, and add two tiles up to the roof.  The lab is okay except for the roof; it could use another tile up of roofing.

Brandonn, you have some tree events in places that a non events will work just fine.

Just some screens from a dungeon including the boss :P

EDIT:  I made battles have a neat little zoom transition when you enter and exit them ;p

Uhh... didn't you post the SAME EXACT THING before, only with a lighter screen tone?  :|
No, theres a bit of a difference.
Zernrdy - You've put too much grass on, not enough trees. Also things can grow out of the grass.

The start of a thunder temple.

If you walk through the lightning beams, you take a proportional amount of damage and step back. (25% - so it can't kill you, but can make you vulnerable to enemies around you)

The urns that are glowing, turn beams on or off. They turn one set on and one set off, so you have to work out which ones to change in order to progress through the dungeon temple.

At the end there's a big boss, so... losing 25% HP each time you walk through a beam suddenly seems a lot worse.

The beams are fully animated.

zenrdy - I like it, although a little more plantlife would be nice. Just because its nature doesn't mean its cluttered. In natural places with at least some human contact, there aren't plants growing wild or anything. Ever see the midwest US? Hardly anything going on at all.

@ Wyatt - Lovely idea and looks like you've executed it well, however just because you have a good idea doesn't mean the temple mapping has to be so simplified and orthodox.  Add in more variety and detail to the maps as it seems like repetitive corridors from that screen.

@ zenrdy - There's nothing wrong with it, its just suffering from a bad case of  "seen it before" syndrome.  How you overcome that is where the innovating comes into play.

I like it. I mean it's VX graphics, it's not my fav thing but the colors are vivid and pretty. It's a good map.

I'm fucking around with some stuff for a big lake, this is what I came up with:

[Current pic later on]

Do not mind the emptiness the map is WAAYYYY from done, just wanted some C&C on how the water bit looks.

Looks pretty nice, except for the transition from one waterfall to the other. Perhaps you could improve that.

Hahaha yea I noticed that, I changed it already, I had the priorities wrong. ^_^V

Pretty, Lisker, pretty. Although, shouldn't lily pads float? And is that a tile of grass growing underwater there? Maybe change it to a more underwater plant :P

Great map Lisker, I like the water a lot. I agree with what Regimos said, the lillypads should probably float :P
Also, the it looks like the vines used on the cliff are also used underwater....it doesn't stand out though.

I was trying some effects in photoshop to see if I could make the RTP charactersets look better with TheInquisitor's tilesets, do y'all think it turned out alright?

@The_Falcon: I guess it's alright. The texture and color in the tileset just doesn't match the RTP very well.

Anyway... how's this? Here's a little rock puzzle I made where you push the rock around onto a switch. Just wondering about the lighting, is it too dark? (The yellowish light around the player follows him, it's a lantern.)

looks really nice. You could tone the light down a little bit, and that lilipad thing is just totally placed randomly. Make a pond or something with water, and put the lili pad thing in there.

Calibre Of course they're more contrasty, I just changed the brightness and contrast. I think it makes them blend in with the tileset much better though.
I frankensprited it with the head from one of Naramura's characters, and got the body from (I think) Pickle/IceAxe's site.

Regimos
I think it looks fine as it is, the player can always change their monitor's brightness if they have problems :P
