Still need a way to push back or mess with the 'z' value for animations so they don't go over the battlers in front (seen at pine's foot).

Here's Pine mowin' down some fools with his Sandstorm attack activated via his Time Scratch ability. You can see in his status bar "Sandstorm:3" which indicates his Time Scratch technique as well as the combo count necessary to activate it. Here he'll use Sandstorm whenever you get 3 hits on an enemy. Changes and additions to this can be equipped or activated during battle.

This shot shows Pine's basic attack, Palm Frond, in conjunction with Tea's Dust ability. Dust marks or 'Dusts' an enemy for a limited time, and Tea will support any attack with an additional attack of his own against dusted enemies.

Demo out in a few days. Fell behind because I had to help a friend move to Cali and then that got me behind on my schoolwork.
 
@Kicks: are'nt Tea arms a little shorts?... only in the fighting stance...

I have been trying the 8 way movement script to see how it works with the tiles Im using... and it really looks funny...like the character is drunk or something. But I am not a scripter so untill I dont find something else I?ll be using a 8 way movement script...

Graphics are'nt mine they are rippped sprites from other games.... with a little editing here and there. Like in the SS you can see that the MagiTek Armor is a sprite rippped from Metal Slug.

very impressive, every screen looks great! I would like to play that.
here's the 1st screen of another game I started today, not much done, mainly graphics, I plan to make a VERY short game (1-2 hours top) a bit on the silent hill side, Probably there will be no battles, and I have yet to think against who you could fight anyway
the whole tileset is custom.

the whole game you'll be inside an abandonen convent. obviously the character is temporary.
 
@Avadan: You should look out for isometric movement scripts, as they have a correct angle to go with your tiles. Your screens look impressive, btw... I like the style.

@Kicks: I like what you see... make sure to kepp working on this or send SNK your sprites or something ;)

@Deltree: Nice battlesystem, and apparently a very script-expensive game overall. I dislike the character graphics, though, 'cause they look off because of the shadows. They look like they'd lay on the ground this way.

They're not meant to represent actual shadows, which are kind of unnecessary in a 2D game, I say. I did that intentionally, so they'd "pop" out of the background, sort of like Paper Mario. I tried using heavy black outlines for this effect but looked a whole lot messier on little sprites. :-/

Also (shhh) it's almost 90% events, so it's a wee bit slow (okay a lot slow) right now. I heard about an interpreter module rewrite about 3 months ago so I was banking on that to help some, but I didn't hear anything more.
 
Avadan: Again, as much as I usually HATE isometric, I truly love screenies O.O The sprites and tiles are really detailed a nice :) Just don't like the Magiteks that much, but they actually pass for Mtek armors so no problem :)

Deltree: Your sprites look a bit static, maybe it is the shadow beind then... But the battle system and layout looks interesting really :) ...ops, you actually replied to a similar comment o.o

Kicks: Looks smashing! Really interesting 2D fighting game feel ;) I want to see screens with the girl in yellow fighting XD

Cray: Looks great, nice feel for the tileset, kinda spooky. The room looks too wide or a bit empty, but nothing big really.

Of course, it is supposed to be a convent, so I'm thinking that the empty space might be the overall theme.

Good job, Cray. Keep it up!
 
Thanks for the comments fellas! I'm positive you're all gonna love the battle system. It's really fun even in these early stages.

@craybest: I think you should have another picture other than the duped one on the right. There is never two of the same painting in any time period, in any one church.
