The PS3 is starting to kick ass!!

Well me and Matty (psiclone, above me, lol.) have been working out the price of a PS3 compared to the 360, if you bought everything needed for the 360 to bring it up to the PS3's standards...

These are going by UK prices (Copy pasted straight from the MSN convo)

Well the way I see it
Over here, a PS3 is £300 ($600), yeah that seems alot to some people
But consider this
For a 360 to be the same as a PS3 you'd need;

You'd need a 360 - £180 ($360)
You'd need a wireless adapter - £40 ($80)
You'd need a bluray player - £250+ ($500+)**
You'd need XBOX Live - £40 a year ($80)***
You'd need a controller charger - £30 ($60)
You'd need batteries for controller - £XX ($XX)****

And that's just off the top of my head, let's see how much that comes to...
£540 ($1080) while the PS3 gets all that for £300 ($600)...

** For a half decent one.
*** That's only ONE year of XBOX Live.
**** This could be ANY amount.

So yeah, work that out for yourself, how long will people be buying XBOX Live for ? And how many batteries will they need to buy for their controllers ?

... Exactly.

And even if you didn't buy the Bluray player, that's £290 ($580), but then add onto that the battery prices, as well as all the years of XBOX Live you'd buy, and it still comes to more than the PS3...

The 360 is having a 6 year lifespan or something, right ? That's 2012ish when the new one comes out, 6 years of £40 is £240 ($480), so basically, add £200 onto that £290 (Taking £40 off from the first year), which bumps that up to £490 ($980)...

... I rest my case.

You can't really include the Blu-Ray player in the price list. You don't need to buy it for your 360. And the guy was right, you either have rechargable batteries, normal batteries or the direct connection.

Please learn to read before you start something, notice I said "if you bought everything needed for the 360 to bring it up to the PS3's standards..."

That means that, if you want the 360 to be as close to the PS3 as it can, and since the PS3 plays blurays, you'd need to buy a bluray player to close the gap... even though it still doesn't, since it's an extra peripheral/item you'd be needing anyway, and look at the cost.

started to realise that COD5 is going to sell for over 50 quid yet jbrist? Pre-order in game was 55 quid today. apologise to shopto.net.

Sometimes I wish I had a Playstation 3, but from my experience Sony's Australian products(Don't know if they're any different in the US), I have about 4 friends who said their playstations have just died or freeze often, one guy said once he got to a certain point in a game and his save files were deleted(Don't fully understand that one.) But maybe when I get cash I will, cause I really want to play Uncharted.

Calibre I'm still standing by my point that it will retail at £40-45... I don't care what any website says, I just know this, you'll see.

okay jbrist do you believe when a national tabloid runs the story...

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/technology/v ... or-55.html

There are threads everywhere on the net to boycott the purchase until they lower the price, because MW2 is being set at that price as a test. If people buy, then all games are going to go to that. And don't think shops will be able to counterbalance the price because if they are paying a much higher cost, they will have to sell for a higher cost.

The PS3 isnt starting to kick ass! It's ALWAYS been kicking ass from day one :p

It really hasn't, and I've had a PS1, 2 and 3 all on day 1. There wasn't an exclusive killer app for far too long after launch. Only Motorstorm had anything about it, Resistance was merely okay, didn't feel any better than Black on ps2 though IMO.

Meh, either way Calibre, I'm not paying a penny over £45 for it, paying £50+ for a game is bloody outrageous if you ask me...

From which website may I ask ?... Nevermind, lol. I've really been wanting that I have, lol, it looks damn impressive, lol.

OK jbrist, I'm a bit concerned you might be thick. MY whole point ALLLL along was that shopto.net, a site you ridiculed for their prices, was pre-order MW2 at 42.99. I also said that it's going to retail in shops for £55! Why would I say it's going to retail online for £55 if I'd already proven that it's not going to with my shopto evidence...

The point is, RRP's are real yeah? And MW2's IS 54.99 and WILL cost that in Game etc on day 1. I clearly never said you can't get it for less.

Go back and read all our posts and try and soak that up :fap:

LOL, it's so ironic, that's the CHEAPEST pre-order price going on the internet for MW2 you just slammed. :), there's some unknown site doing it for 41.99 but other than that, it's shopto.
