EDIT: Ah yes, almost forgot to ask something...my graphics card is a bit outdated (it can still handle the OB, although it lags a bit and there's a view glitches with fire and such). Anyways, RADEON 9200 SE Family is what I have. What would work perfectly with the box without me paying too much? (broke, lol)

A GeForce... My old GeForce 2 (also Family Edition) could run Half-Life2 and CS:Source =D, so I guess you should get a GeForce 7 series, just don't get a 7600 (the one I have, a total pain in the ass).

About the controls, I guess you aren't used to use Ctrl in FPS are you?

Not really...actually this is my first FPS on a computer, lol. And I'm stuck once again, I forget what its called but I'm at this prison and you have to set up 3 turrets and stay alive for a while. I tried everything, I even played the part on EASY and still couldn't make it, lol. Maybe posting here for help may magically cause me to get through the part soon. >_>

Well, I've played Team Fortress 2. I must say, it's close to one of the best multiplayer games I've ever played. No crashing, no copius lagging and a fucking excellent game. Buy it NOW! The Orange Box, I mean.

Who goes Sniper? Anyone?

Well, you could always buy HL2: Ep1 for $30AUD (roughly $15US). That comes with *checks Steam* just those two. Well, it isn't much if you want it that bad.

If you have trouble with using wasd and mouse for FPS games, you can always get a controller for PC. I know playstation ones exist, don't know about XBox.
Oh and that part is harder than the final "boss", it's really fucking hard, just keep on trying. You just need some dexterity to grab the hacks with the GGun and fire smash them at the ground in about a second. Try to keep your turrets near a pillar or a wall and keep a watch on them, because the combines throw grenades or either go there and bash them. If you need to save ammo, the hacks are always good to be thrown at the combine, instead of simply destroying them. Good luck.

I actually tried out this one trick that someone suggested to me. You know the containers (where it is hard for the combine to knock them over) where you find the turrets? All I did is turned them around so they are facing out and hid in an empty one and the combine pretty much ignored me and went after the turrets...I did nothing, lol. You should have seen the wall, it was, not red, but black from too much blood. I just sat there laughing, and oddly no manhacks either...lol.

Ok, next month I'm hoping to buy a new graphics card...and I think the one I'm looking at is GeForce 7300, how would the games look with this card? I want my Half-Life games (and Portal) to look beautiful!!! lol
And this should take care of all that lagging and glitches as well too right? My RAM stands at 2GB, and my processor speed is at 2.4GHz, just making sure if this card won't make the games beautiful or not, lol.

EDIT: Oh, one other thing...Any word on a Episode 3 yet?
EDIT 2: Oh yea, I've been told you can sell a game you don't want or give it away as a gift or something. How do you do this, I want to make some money and I don't care much for Team Fortress 2 anyway.

I don't know nothing about that card, but it should run all HL2 and Source games just fine.

If your income is reasonable, save enough for an 8 series.

Ok, I'm wanting to try out Hammer and attempt to make some Portal maps...
Are there any good tutorials on this? (I keep finding tutorials on Half-Life 2 stuff, and the Portal ones don't help me out much)

Also there's one other problem, Steam is taking like, a VERY long time to "scan for game updates". It's been like several hours now, is this happening to anyone else, or is it because of my dial-up? I know there is supposed to be an update for Episode 2 and Portal today...

EDIT: Never mind!! I hate it when this happens, I ask for help then the thing starts working. Steam is updating now, lol.
But still, let me know if you find any good tutorials for map making in Portal. Thanks.

Well, if you have beaten the game more than one time, trying to beat it in different ways, you should have enough experience to do maps. What you need to learn is how to map good, in general (kinda hard if you don't have this certain talent).

...I don't know why beating the game has to do with learning how to use Hammer. Basically I want right now is tutorials on how to make maps based on Portal, everything I'm finding are tutorials to map for Half-Life 2 and Team Fortress...To me, Portal's maps seems simpler than Half-Life games.

All I know what to do is make a simple room with texture, I don't know how to add ceiling lights or objects and stuff...I've looked at tutorials on this stuff but it tells me to go somewhere and I have no idea what's it's talking about. (Properties World Model?!)
Anyways do you know a good site with tutorials for Portal? Make sure it's for newbies also, I'm not ready (obviously) for the advanced stuff yet.

I tried one tutorial and I think I did everything right, when I go to test it I get this..."Failed to load the launcher DLL: The specified module could not be found."
What happened?

Bell, you should be able to play all Source Engine games with full settings with that card. Only thing you might want to turn down is HDR.

I'm able to play the game with full settings (it lags a bit during big battles however) but I'm saying that I need a new card for it run lag/glitch-free...not too mention better graphics. (the graphics right now on my computer doesn't look all that good)

Does anyone know where I ca find Portal/Episode 2  music? I've tried going to Hammer and going to ambient_generic entities just so I can play the sounds and all that...but it won't play the music files...Episode 2 and Portal has some pretty awesome music.
