The Orange Box

Ah, I see now. I'm going to go ahead and wait until this weekend. (my computer is being upgraded and needs to be wiped out as well)

Well...my computer is upgraded, now I get this error saying "minimum requirement: DirectX 8.0" or something very similar, I have DirectX 9.0. Is there a way to fix this?
EDIT: Never mind...apparently I have 8.1, but still I should be able to run it...any help?

Portal=Awesome. It may be short, but it had the highest concentrations of greatness I have ever seen. The song at the end is one of my favorite songs ever. The humor is perfect. The gameplay is solid.

Best 3 hours of gaming. Ever.

Ok, I've gotten the games running finally and started playing Half-Life 2: Episode 1 a couple of days ago...I forget what chapter I'm on (I didn't pay attention to that stuff, lol) but I'm stuck. It's this underground-appearing room that's flooded and full of barnacles (whatever you call them, those things that hang on the ceiling), I flipped the switch but I can't think of any other way to the door on the other side without touching the electrified water.

I think there's a second level above, but I can't get up there. (and yes I've tried letting the barnacles to give me a lift, lol) Anyone know how to do this? Thanks.

I am not sure, I can be confusing with HL2, but a Poison Heady scared the crap out of you in that area right? Well, kill the barnacles and after you make your way to the switch and turn it on, use the blue barrels to make your way back to that part where the head crab is and there is an electric door that should now work. Easy =)

The new SDK tools are a bit screwed, but you might have to update your drivers. I'm not sure about this error, but I fixed it by adding a -engine ep1 in the launch options, which as it says reverts the engine back to Episode 1. I'm not sure whether this would be good for you considering you're wanting to make Portal maps, which uses the Episode 2 engine.

Oh, apparently Valve will continue to make more Portal games in the future. Yaaay.

lol, guess I haven't gotten that far into the Half-Life 2 stuff yet.

Ok, I'm through all that and I'm at the part AFTER you save these people and they get on the train and all that. Once Alyx (or however you spell it) leaves this giant 3 legged thing shows up. I followed a path to the part where these two soldiers attack you and stuff and I'm at a dead end. I've tried everything I could think of to destroy that thing but I can't kill it.

EDIT: Never mind, didn't notice the gap in between the trains, lol.
EDIT 2: Now I'm playing episode two...lol. Any help on the part where the two guardians show up?...Especially since I'm VERY low on ammo, I even tried using the flammable barrels and stuff but nothing works.

...Ok I'm just going to quit asking for help (no one helps anyway) since I get past the problem as soon as I ask, lol. But I do have a question...when you get to the room with the rocket or whatever, you see this headcrab jumping around the room. I was about to shoot it but it turned out to be harmless and...playful...WHAT THE HECK! Explain please.

Lemar?...I'm confused...will playing Half-Life 2 clear any of this stuff up for me? (I played episode 1 and 2 first, I thought they came first in order or something)

Half-Life 2 Episodes are the Aftermath (the original name, then Valve decided to make Episodes) of HL2. You should have played HL2 before the Episodes.

And the head crabs aren't that scary...lol.
Nope, regular Headcrabs aren't, but the Poison Headcrabs are freaking ninjas! It's a good thing they make a squeak before jumping.

Well I'm playing Half Life 2 now, and I'm at the part where a bunch of gunships start attacking you. (it's during the chapter "Sand traps" I believe)

I grab a couple rockets and blast all 3 of them at the gunship and then it takes off while another one pops up, and then the other comes back and I can't figure out which one is which. The trailing smoke disappears making it hard for me to figure things out...I think a third one pops up too. Tips please! (and watch, tomorrow I beat it before someone answers, lol)

You mean dropships, you are near a lighthouse right? On top of the lighthouse there is an unlimited rocket cache, just blast all of the ships and then this doctor guy will tell you to follow him, etc... See a walkthrough for tips.

Wrong part, lol. I'm at this part after you get these spore things and get the the Antlions to join you and all that. After you come out of this sewer thing then the dropship pops up...followed by another one later. (and like I said before I think a third one as well...)

...What's a good and cheap controller for this game? Playing it with the keyboard is hard, especially in parts like these.

...........I mean in some parts you have to duck and move at the same time, I can't think of an easier button to use as duck. And how am I supposed to hook up the Wiimote (and the sensor bar) up to the computer? lol

Anyways you do know what part I'm talking about though right?

EDIT: Ah yes, almost forgot to ask something...my graphics card is a bit outdated (it can still handle the OB, although it lags a bit and there's a view glitches with fire and such). Anyways, RADEON 9200 SE Family is what I have. What would work perfectly with the box without me paying too much? (broke, lol)
