The Blacksmith's Apprentice - Version 1.5 released

@Naze:  I'm glad you like the game so far.  It is difficult to debug 10 hours worth of game time.  Whew... As for the quest menu, I can't remember where I got it, but I'm pretty sure it wasn't by searching for the author.  I just searched for Quest management scripts, and the one I got had to be majorly overhauled to fit my needs (Not to mention the way it interacted with other scripts).  It was not plug-n-play, as I had to modify many other scripts to make it work.  I'll send you the script, but you'll have to figure out how to integrate it into your game.

@Bruno: I'm glad you enjoyed the game.  Thanks for pointing out that bug in the Garrison Caves.  At this point in the game, the only purpose for those caves is secondary, getting items and experience.  It becomes MUCH more important later on.
 
Sure. And let's hope you make a map for those caves. I ran out of springwaters, so I couldn't fight for shiz, and I was running all around trying to find the exit and not running into too many bad guys. I had to load a previous file in the end :(

Looking forward to the next chapter, though. Are you REALLY working on all this alone? It's freaking impressive.
 
I am working on this alone.  It's my baby.  What you see so far has taken about two years, though it's more of a hobby than a full-time thing.

Well, I certainly hope not!  There was a definite learning curve for me with using RPG Maker XP, and I spent a lot of the time at the beginning of the process collecting resources.  The development has gotten much faster since then.
 
I'm very sorry for double posting but, i seem to have come across an error or what not? Ive downloaded the game but I don't know how to open and play it.
 
That's not an error that's lack of knowledge. I talked about this a few posts back, it's no different than any other XP game. >,>
 
Hi, I recently downloaded and am playing your game, I think its awesome! I've gotten to the part of the ancient ruins and I think I'm stuck.

The bug is that I cant enter the 4th floor. I've lit all the scones on floors 1-3, all the guards disappeared and the water is gone. I went down there once and died to the boss>.< so I reloaded my save file (Just before the boss fight) and got out of the ruins to get more pots and heal. When I go back, I can't enter it anymore, please help. Nothing happens when i press space either

That's a new one.  That transfer event is triggered by the action button instead of what it should be, player touch.  I'm going to post a fix soon, but in the meantime, you should be able to go one space UP from where you are in the screen shot, and press the action key.  Hopefully that works.

EDIT: Main post has the latest version, which includes the changes made to William's sprite, as well as some more bugs fixed.
 
Sorry to double post, but I think I found a new bug with the newest version.

I just completed the Garrison and I'm on my way to Dwarfs Mine... After the cutscene with the 2 guys and the beacons, my screen goes black. If I randomly move around a bit, my lantern lights and I'm in the cave with the 2 guys, but I'm invisible.. I can move, but invisible. I can also access the menu screen. I can also go out of the cave, but I'm invisible there too.. I can walk, and I found a monster and I can engage a fight with him, the battle is normal.

 
Ugh.  I knew I would forget something.  Anyway, the main post has the new-new version.  Hope you're not on dial-up.  :blush:
 
I remember playing this about a month ago.
from what i remember it was a decent story and game that had me hooked for about 5-6 hours.

I never made it to the end of the demo though because around the Dwarf mines area it suddenly became a lot harder, I backtracked a bit to do some side quests (namely the one in the abandoned church) and ended up getting completely destroyed by the boss of said castle :|

Gonna download it again now though, coz reading the recent posts it seems like a lot of work has been done on it since i last played    :straightthumb:

I'm glad you liked the Ancient Ruins!  My inspiration for that section (and I might be showing my age with this one) was an old PC game called "Lands of Lore".  (Awesome game, featuring the voice of Patrick Stewart as King Richard)  There's a place called the White Tower where wraith soldiers are literally coming out of the walls almost endlessly, and it was one of the most terrifying, hard, memorable, and satisfying parts of the entire game, or even any game I've ever played.

Hmm... If that's what you're going for, then you should make it that you can't see soldiers on top of the black bits.

How are you able to see them?  I can't when I play test it... Am I the only one?
