Super Smash Bros. Brawl - (SPOILERS)

Marth is not my best, he's probably third best for me. His Counter lasts much longer than Roy's; I think almost a second longer so the margin with which it works is considerably higher than Roy's, provided you know how and when to use it properly. Also, Roy's B-up recover looks much more epic than Marth's, but does so much less damage, I think between only 5 and 10 per cent. Roy can't chain grab either; Marth can.

How would the whole leaf, bud, and flower thing work in this game? Will it just be random when he plucks them up or is there a way to make them stronger?

Because a picture tells everything, right?

Personally, I can't wait to play as him.

Well, it's not that. Olimar's main weakness is the inability to pretty much do anything without plucking Pikmin. Now, on a small stage on a one on one fight, a fast character would be able to kick his ass before he could summon any Pikmin to his side. That said, when he respawns, then he could go to town.

o__O i'm not so sure about olimar anymore. well, maybe, maybe not. its really really really hard to tell. those moves are REALLY something else... and his recovery move looks like its a bitch to use.

snakes final smash looks like its useless in a 1-on-1 if the rockets move nearly as slow as they do in the mgs franchise. it'd be easy as hell to dodge.

Its possible that he begins the battle with pikmin already. Also, we don't know how long it will take to pluck one.

He will still be a unique character, though.

I dunno, I managed to kick a lot of ass with Mr. Game and Watch in my day. His charged side smash move is almost illegally good, and Oil Panic is awesome if you're up against, say, Mewtwo, or any other long-range character you can think of.

Cook and Judge are pretty lame, though. However, I see Cook potential for offensive use against someone trying to recover after being knocked off stage; a cloud of sausages might be able to kick him around and interrupt his moves enough to finish him.

That said, yes, Mr. Game and Watch is very, very, very, light. Like Jigglypuff, but with some actual well-rounded moves on his side. That never seemed to be a problem for me, though, and I'm not sure why.

He's also fast. Not Cap fast, but fast enough. That might be it.

EDIT: Olimar looks pretty fun. I'm not sure of his ass-kicking potential, but it's certainly gonna be interesting to find out firsthand.

I'm scared about the low polygon count on the pikmin, though. Don't tell me they're already approaching the Wii's limits!

The graphics on the pokémon aren't too great, except Charizard Squirtle Ivysaur.
But you won't exactly be zooming into the pikmin in the same way you would up peach's skirt on Melee, so I doubt you'll be able to count how many sides there are on a pikmin.
EDIT: Game and watch was only good for recolouring Kirby into that beautiful blackness with the many colours of black, black and black. White eyes though. They better have G&W just for that
EDIT2: The videos of the warioware stage  ;D ;D ;D It will be so fun to play on!

<raises hand>

I was very, very, very young, so I can honestly chalk it up to innocent curiosity.

And Xilef, the reasons most Pokemon have low polygon counts are because the majority of what we've seen are directly pasted from Melee. Such new introductions as Groudon and Deoxys are much prettier. The Pikmin thing is a totally new development, which is why I'm worried.

I'm a little confused of his moveset. I'll give an example and you correct me.

Olimar pulls out a red Pikmin, infused with the power of fire. He can throw it and his enemies become all flamed up and lose damage slowly. However, you can also keep it, then do say a side smash where the power of the smash increases and also puts people on fire.
?

That's how I interpreted it, and I think that might be pretty cool... however I'm into using the gimmicky characters, and Olimar is shouting "Shoot me!". This is nit-picky, but when he's holding a Pikmin, I wonder if Hal will make it so he holds an item he picks up with his other hand. That could just look stupid otherwise.

And the Peach thing... one of my friends showed me one day, so I've seen it, but haven't gone out of me way to see it again. Pffft softcore gaming porn. Geez....

Whobby 2008 is underway, and we'll have translations of an attendee's live up-to-the-minute blog. Stay posted here and keep checking back every for new updates and images (if available)! Updates will be posted with newer updates appearing at the top

# Meta Knight: No strong attacks. He's the kind of character that relies on multiple hits. FS is very strong and has a wide hitbox. Not much use for gliding. Taunt: Flaps his wings and does a "warp" or some sort.
# Diddy Kong: He's very fast and can "put hurt on you." He has combo attacks, similar to Meta Knight.
# NO MORE DELAYS: According to someone to who asked a Nintendo rep there: Brawl is confirmed to be released on the 24th. (Japan)
# Pokemon Trainer disappears on certain stages. He was not present on Delfino Plaza.
# New Pokemon: Shaymin
# UNCONFIRMED: Pokemon trainer's starting appearance is him running to a stop and taunting.
# Item Selection is ON. Smash Balls can be turned off.
# King Dedede has a pink costume.
# Dedede is a heavy, slow, powerful character. He has 4 mid-air jumps (5 total jumps). His Waddle Dee throwing attack is weak. His Up Special has good knockback.
# Dedede's starting appearance is the Waddle Dee Shrine seen on the Dojo.
# Pokemon Trainer and King Dedede Playable! They appear as "Dedede" and "P. Trainer"
# Confirmed: The Brawl game available is a demo, however, it is a new one.

i'm sure there'll be special variations of smash attacks and stuff for if he holding a weapon.
tbh i can kinda jsut see them making the item 'disappear' momentarily during a special attack that has to do with throwing/plucking a pikmin  the way they do if you were, say, MR GW holding a capsule, and using one of his special attacks.

# Link tried to FS an opponent who had a Starman and it failed. One time during Kirby's FS, Starmen were launched from the pot. The enemies used the Starmen and ended up KO'ing Kirby.
# Waddle Dees are better than turnips in terms of knockback and damage. Dedede's Suction spits out fast, but not very far and has low damage.
# Samus cannot missle cancel. Peach can float cancel.
# More reports of Dedede being very slow with fast atacks, but a conflicting report of his Waddle Dees being useful and spammable.
# More PT Impressions: Charizard's has multiple jumps and his Fly is powerful. He flies straight up and burns anything around him. His flamethrower is identical to Bowser's Fire Breath. Squirtle's Water Gun is chargable. Ivysaur is immobile while using Bullet Seed. PT's FInal Smash is very powerful.
# The PictoChat stage sometimes has impenetrable walls and can trap you on a side of the stage.
# DK's Final Smash used correctly can take up 90% of a stage. His FS was originally thought to be ineffective.
# Some people worry that the Smash Ball occurs too much.
# Rumors of Black Charizard. Some suggest a very dark Chrarizard that is near-black.
# PT Impressions: Squirtle has fast attacks, but no reach. Ivysaur is the more balanced of the Pokemon. Charizard is heavy, medium speed, and attacks using claws and tail mostly.
# Pokemon trainer's starting Pokemon is random. So far, it's unconfirmed if the starter can be selectable like Shiek was for Zelda in Melee.
# Dragoon does 42% damage. It KO'd Mario at 0%.
# Lots of Invincibility frames when switching Pokemon.
# Dedede's Suction is beastly because of it's force and strength.
# Ike is being called a noob killer. His Side Special charged can KO Kirby and Meta Knight at 35%. He is being called "too powerful".
# Meta Knight is a good beginner character.
# Ike Impressions: Eruption has a lot of range and can be used in the air. His Final Smash has more range if you "charge it up"?
# Ashley Deconfirmed! She appears in the WarioWare stage. So does 9-Volt and Jimmy.
# Kirby Impressions: Final Cutter has been changed once again. More confirmation of Kirby sucking up items.
# Attendee's Opinion: Pictochat music was bothering.
# Dedede Impressions: Attacks are fast, but hammer is sluggish. As stated before, his Up SPecial has good knockback, but is completely vertical, like Ike's.
# Pokemon Trainer Impressions: Takes about three seconds to change Pokemon. Colors: Red, Green, Blue, and Black & White (original GB version). PT's Pokemon do not have accessories like hats, glasses, ect.
# First reports of an attendee: He writes about Samus, but adds nothing new to what we already knew. You can't turn into ZSamus at the start of the match at all.
# Muddy Mole is an assist trophy. (Not Monty Mole) Muddy Mole is a character from "Mole Mania", a GB game that Sakurai adores.
# People are under the impression that Meta Knight is very good and Dedede is not. (This is only first impressions that are hours old and opinions, keep in mind)
