I can imagine there are some camera problems, considering all the gravity stuff - is that true?

Not true. The camera is designed wonderfully. It takes a little getting used to, but the fact that you are on spherical worlds doesn't detract from the camera enjoyability.

Yeah actually, and come to think of it, that's what impressed me the most. The default camera is fantastic, but even if you don't like that, you just push a button and it's behind you. It always works very, very well, particularly when you run into clear worlds where the innards are a mix of 2D platforming and 3D.

Sounds weird but it's awesome when you first see it!

Why? It'd be stupid to play it with anything else. The controls blow a regular controller out of the water.

A peripheral that costs like 20 USD isn't a big deal if you want a great gameplaying experience. I sorta wish they came with the thing, but I'm a corporate schill. I have the recharging station, 4 wiimotes, 4 nunchuks, and that Classic NES controller they made for the Virtual Console. I also have all the Wii Services and many of the VC games (not to mention a crapload of regular Wii games and a subscription to Nintendo Power Magazine).

I bleed money for Nintendo and they repay me with fun. It's win-win (except for my hemorrhaging wallet).
fine you bleed your money to nintendo il bleed my money into song :p, but still when i get my wii for SSBB il still get this

How wierd! I just bought the game today, nice to find this thread! Yeah I freakin' love it so far. I am very impressed with Nintendo, always a plethora of hits from those guys I swear... Damn. If only SOnic could be THIS cool in 3-D as well.

I'm a HUGE fan of the mario games and my favorite genre is 3D platformers.

I got the game and started playing about 30 minutes ago and had to take a break because the planetoid/camera gimmick was giving me a headache. So far it's annoying as hell- smooth, but annoying. I really hope this gets better.

Really? It's fine with me. Make sure you aren't playing in a dark room with the only light being the TV. That does a lot of bad things to your eyes-and head. D=

It definitely takes some getting used to--especially running to the undersides of flat-ish planets!!! My heart skips every time I do it. Everything I've ever played tells me that running off the side of a cliff'll kill you, and in this game you have to! Puts you in a very different state of mind o_o

@ J.D.: Yeah, Sonic Adventure II had something a little like this in one level (planet hopping) but the camera was too messed up to really enjoy it. Sonic games were so fun, they really need to give the 3D division of Sonic Team a good, hard kick in the pants.

It was too short D=.

The story, at least.

Also...theres a glitch! If you accept free 1 ups from Peach then save, then quit using the Wii Menu screen the 1 ups don't save! D=

Still, it was a kick ass game.

Well, Mario games are never very renowned for their story, but it's very cute, to say the least. I'm not running through the story, I'm doing every single instance of a level before moving on ... So the story's been taking longer for me ;'P

It's very rare for me to get addicted to a non RPG game, but Super Mario Galaxy proves to be one of those rare few. This game has been one of the most fun and thrilling experiences I've played in a platformer in a looooong time! I absolutely love how the game's mechanics feel almost flawless and everytime I encounter something remotely hard, i don't blame the game; I actually blame myself! (as you can tell this was the issue with many 3D Sonic games... u.u) But anyways, I have to honestly, REALLY recommend this game.... if nothing, it's a really entertaining experience!

On a side note, I just found out something REALLY cool about the game, so read only if you don't mind knowing slight spoilers.... It has nothing to do with plot, it's just what happens when you collect 120 stars:
After collecting 120 stars you get to play the entire game again as Luigi! This is a really good reason why I am trying incredibly hard to get em' all! Oh man.

iCheeze, nobody really left. Most of us have pretty much accepted that only a very few of the leaving threads were for real.

As for the game, yeah it was really good. Definitely among the better games on the Wii. With this and Metroid Prime 3--and SSBB soon--the Wii is pretty much the best choice of the current consoles. The quality of these few games is definitely better than the large quantity of generic games the other consoles advertise.

I beat the game, but it'll take me a long time to get Luigi. Mostly because I can only play when my roommates are gone (I got lucky this weekend) and I suspect that I won't be playing it again until summer break.

Also...theres a glitch! If you accept free 1 ups from Peach then save, then quit using the Wii Menu screen the 1 ups don't save! D=

How is that a glitch? It's just NOT SAVING YOUR GAME.

what.

oh wait that was my fault. i meant to say that it NEVER SAVES THE ONE UPS

but yeah the point that I was making is the same that it's not a glitch.
