LegacyComplete said:I love how most people say that the PS3 is WAY to expensive, what they dont realize right now is, the PS3 can PLAY BLUERAY CDS (any kind). Normal BlueRay players and drives cost WELL over $1000 USD right now.... now $600 USD for something that plays CD's DVD's BR's and PS1 2 and 3 games?? Stop bitching about the price!!! that is a GREAT F**KING DEAL!!

As for an exchange that took place, I want to emphasise something.
It's not just a $600 Blu-Ray player. It's a $600 Blu-Ray player that plays CDs, DVDs, BDs, PSOne, Playstation 2, and PLAYSTATION 3 games, along with the single most epic third party support imaginable, and the backing of essentially all of Hollywood. You get this all without a HDTV, but an HDTV makes it better.
For $600 you get CDs, DVDs, HD-DVDs, many Xbox games, and Xbox360 games, assuming of course you spring for the HD-DVD addon coming out.
PS3 = same price as a HD video player/gaming machine, but with thousands more games, better hollywood support of its format, a bigger harddrive, and over all better value. Of course much of this value will also be established as the library is established, but regardless of what you think of Blu-ray, it's a good deal for what you get, and is a good price no matter what you want to do it for. i.e. play Final Fantasy games and other games that aren't shooters and sports games. (Not that you don't get those.)
Saying "I don't care about Blu-ray" is akin to saying "I don't care about DVD."
If you don't want it now, you will want it in the future.

What? Who cares about either in the context of consoles? As far as I remember, I've bought my consoles for their games, not formats.arcthemonkey said:Saying "I don't care about Blu-ray" is akin to saying "I don't care about DVD."
