Ok... so i've been on a bit of a break as of late... but ive decided to post this early... it's unfinished... but has 3 key animations and the one i'm working on now...

1.) Ready Stance
2.) Item Usage (completely turns and checks into pouch that player cannot see..)
3.) Attack Evasion (She does what is now known as the "replacement technique"... fitting for a ninja)
4.) Struck (Basic animation for when Katelina gets struck by a weapon... this is the non-critical version) *not done*

These sprites are 100% custom built from scratch and have alot of time and care put into them... please don't take my hard work... :)... and also, Please Leave Crits and Critiques... i need them to improve... no excuses... :)
 
For those that don't know... this is Katelina.. She's a Ninja from the Kitsune Toukon Clan (fox fighting spirit)
She's a Ninja... thus i wanted to make her actions seem ninja like... After playing Naruto / Bloody Roar (bakuryu)/ Soul Calibur (Taki) and Tenchu.. I've tried to replicate her actions in this character set... it's still not done  but i'm showing more improvements on her...

Actual Speed... with the new spell casting animation...

1.)Standing pose (ready animation)
2.)Use Item (She reaches into her unseen bag and throws a item into the air)
3.)Attack Evasion (Alot of ninjas i see turn into/ replace themselves with logs when they vanish, i felt this was a good attack evasion animation that would reflect her ninja like skills)
4.)Damage Animation (Since she's so lightweight, almost every attack will send her flying, but she catches herself and gets back into battle formation
5.)Ready Stance (again)
6.)Heavy Damage/ Knockout (A powerful attack that lifts Katilena off of her feet, she cannot regain balance and is knocked down, the last frame of this animation is the dead animation....)
7.)Dead (see above...)
8.)Getting up animation (i have some quirks about this animation specifically, but she gets up and then spins back to her ready position..)
9.)Ready Stance (yet, another one...)
10.) Spell Casting (i had to decide to go with either the hand seals that i see alot of ninjas use (not only just naruto) or use the full range arm movement spell casting that Sign Weaving uses... well i wanted Ninjutsu to have it's own unique feature in this world... so instead of writing out the letters like sign weaving... Katelina will do complex hand signs and formations to cast her "spells"

I hope that demystifies Katelina and her actions a little bit... please leave crits and critiques... they are always helpful... :)
 
anyway about the walking animations it seems that the lower part is the only one moving the upper stay still
it should be moving... maybe moving arms/shoulders or changing his heights about 1 or 2 pixel

other than that...
your a very good spriter... i love to see more animations ^^
 
Mmm, what Hanzo said. It's all fantastic, though that walking animation is a little strange - she's almost gliding as she walks. So okay, if that's your intent, maintaining the same height works, perhaps - but something about her upper body needs movement otherwise, as is... when we swing our arms, our torso twists forward and backward - hers doesn't.

Though if you do just make her upper body bob up and down that'd probably do the trick for regular walking just fine.

I love the two color shading you've got happening. Must save a posterior-load of time when it comes to drawing new frames.
 
Aye, I think that goes the distance. Complete perfection would require the minds of better than I, but I figure you can leave that one be and move to your next sprite at that. :)

this is the one that was chosen.. so i am in the midst of recreating and beautifying several parts of this system with graphic styles similar to Menu System... i'm also working on another logo for Samurai Ragnarok... that will be the final one... but i'm working with Silouhettes... i'll update more when i get a chance... hopefully the next time i update will be the completed design for the battle system...
 
Looking good as always Dark. Keep up the nice work, loving how you're setting up the battle screen should be pretty interesting when it is completed.
