RPG Breeze (Cancelled)

so is this still alive? i can't hear a heartbeat

Theory is still working on a job for funding. Last time I talked to him, he said that it would more than pay for the project, and allow us to get down to business.

Unfortunately developing programs can be very time consuming, especially when you do a program to such a scale, the last project i worked upon (and we had a group of 5 programmers and 5 artists) took 2 years to develop, sometimes it's not just all about coding, you have to do other work as well.

Like designing how it's going to work before you code it.

That's one of the major things with RPG Breeze. Originally, RPG Architect, the software program was written by a group of people theory hired, and they resulted an end product which was far from what was intended. So he re-envisioned the project, and is taking the time to develop a plan of action, and finance it properly from the start. Which is why it's taking so long. Word has it he's laying the groundwork for the project to succeed, versus become another vaporware, or half-baked, title.

Exactly, designing a program is one of the most important parts of programming, if you get your design wrong, well you end up with a flawed product.
You have to think about everything, and when things go wrong sometimes you have to re-design and then change your code to reflect your new design, it's all about making a better quailty program.

The project is still underway. I'm completing another contracted project which will provide, upfront, funding in full for Breeze. The draft is pretty much done, so it's just a matter of money to make the world go round. (Don't try to say it doesn't.)
I'm still alive, and will be returning shortly. There's only another week on my funding project, roughly.
Looking forward to coming home, and bringing an army with me XD

I just spent the last three or so hours reading through this entire topic.

I don't even know what to say now.. lol

Other than that I'm following, and that I can't wait for some screenies.

I'm on the way back. Your support has been unwavering, and I appreciate the level of confidence, as it makes it a lot easier to continue my work.
As I mentioned before, I have been working on a couple of funding projects. So, good news, is that Breeze officially has a budget now. I'm still finishing up a few things to get that number as optimal as it can be. But our goals have been defined, our methods have been chosen, and our time and dedication will soon pay off.
I'm not exactly back yet, I'm still a forum ghost, but the waiting period is coming to a close shortly.

theory,

I don't mean to sound rude; however, aren't posts like this purely for the sake of hype?

Your post is a few sentences, saying nothing related to the actual progress of the project other than what you've said before.

I have to wonder, based upon how this thread tugs back and forth with action, inaction, vapor-ish promises, others supporting you, your response to that support, and your saying it helps you keep on going: why are you making RPG Breeze, if not for yourself? If you're making it for other people, why charge for it? Further, if this is a business venture, why not wait until you have a product before saying anything? A professional knows to keep something quiet after an incident, like before, until something less vapor-ish becomes available.

I tend to agree with you on this one, Morou. I think this thread should have been left to die months ago, and a new thread should have been posted if and when the product was actually near testing or actual release. That being said, theory obviously isn't a professional in this sort of thing, as evidenced by his actions in the past.

If I would have known that it was going to take this long, I would have left it to die myself. Shortly after the thread was created, development was moving. That turned out to be a flop, and I've been working towards trying again. My budget the first time around was (apparently) insufficient, and there were a series of miscommunications.

Since then, I ran polls to determine the feature set of the program. Now that it has been decided, it's been a waiting game while I rebuild the budget for it, and to a proper amount.

It's true, I have no professional background with IDE development. I've worked on a few teams, developed a lot of game systems, but not actually a game-maker, and not a commercial product. As it's something that I most enjoy, I thought it would be great to merge my work and my entertainment together. That is why I am making Breeze.

I have the starting budget for it, and am preparing to recontract the development of RPG Breeze. These posts were not meant as hype, they were meant to demonstrate that the product has not fallen the way of vaporware. That said, there's no difference without any significant news.

I'll let this thread die, because honestly, if I did post new content, the thread is so cluttered, it would be difficult to find the newly relative content. I'll wait until mid-development to create a proper thread for it. I do look forward to resuming the conversation then. Apologies for not doing this sooner.

[Mods: Lock if you feel appropriate.]
